just used this on the stock 16G card from the phone!! Works like a champ!!!!!
Going to find a pre-mango xbmod rom to try so I can see if it will unlock my 32G card...

Mods,
Can you please make this a sticky???

Tried it myself. Although it's a hassle to put a new Custom Rom on the phone because you lose all your data this tutorial really works!
My only problem was that DiskPart cleaned my SD Card but didn't want to create a partition. I had to remove and reinsert the MicroSDHC card, clean it again and then it worked like a charm.
+1 for making this a sticky. Could be extremely useful to lots of users and the rom that is used is available on all HTC 1st gen devices.

be nice if this SD_UNLOCK could be included in all custom ROMS!!!

if the custom rom supports cab sender then you can just send the dev_storageunlock to the device. it will persist even after hard reset but not flashing.
we just need rom buliders to start support cab sender and we will be good for everything. :0)

Whats the purpose of doing this?

When you use an SD card in WP7 the card is no longer usable in any other phone/laptop/device etc.
The SD spec allows for the 'S' Secure password to be setup so only the device that knows the password, in this case the WP7 device you last Hard reset it in, can access the card.
You can remove this password using a nokia symbian device but not every one has access to one.
So the purpose of this tut is being able to use your own HD7 to remove that secure lock so the SD card can be read in any other phone/laptop/device etc. and format or in some cases dual boot to droid if you could be botherd to inflict your self with that rot.
Hope this helps.

Ok so does that also mean we can replace the hd7 card with another of our own purchased from off the shelf?
---------- Post added at 04:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:49 AM ----------
So if the sdcard , can be read by laptop, is IT possible to change its contents like down grade sol, is ECT while the card is in the laptop

Go check out the sticky on how to upgrade the memory in the HD7 to 32GB...
you can upgrade it, but you don't need this to upgrade it... This is so once a card is removed from the HD7 it can be used in other things. You can't take it out and modify it etc then put it back in...

Hi there.
Just want to say that my HD7 have Bootloaer(SPL-5.10) and the ROM in there does not support cabs install. But, I have HD2 and install HD2_Updatable_XBmod_Yuki_v2_native with the HD2, and follow the step in this thread in post one(1) and put in my 16GB from my HD7 and BINGO it UNLOCK the card.
Now I am using Android on the 16GB for my HD2 and the 32GB card for my HD7. I might end up switching it the other way round. Won't mind or worry cause now I can UNLOCK the card without any phone.
Thanks for your guide.
PEACE!!!

Great
The initiative taken for the concern is very serious and need an attention of every one.

i like to use any sdcard in hd7 . i heard hd7 only recognises certain cards. how can i do that???

it will recognize just about any card, but some cards are too slow to operate properly. In the sticky on how to upgrade to 32G, there is a lot of info on what cards will and won't work.

the card i want to use is a 8GB microSD class 2 but has no brand on it
its taken from an older smartphone around 2009
I am intending to install this card on the phone
Since its a class 2, it may be lower power consumption hence better battery life.

Best bet is to do the crystal disk mark test on a PC before you install it to make sure it is fast enough. Save time.

TREO 750 "beta testing expired"

Hi, this is my first post on this forum and i'm hoping to get some help to solve my problem.
I have an unlocked ATT treo 750 that i'm currently using with T-Mobile. I was happily running windows 5 and decided to try this new windows mobile 6.5 so i downloaded the rom from a thread on this forum and i ran the update process while my phone was connected to windows zync porgram, so it worked fine, but as soon as i rebooted my phone to the new windows 6.5 it gave me the
"This concludes de beta test of this software release...." now i try to reconnect my phone to my pc to zync and flash another rom but i won't recognize the connection.
what can i do, i know there is a way to flash a rom using your mini sd card but i'm not sure about this process....tell me if i have it right:
1. format your mini sd card using fat32, using a computer with a card reader (i can't format it using my phone cause of ovious reasons)
2. copy the rom image to the mini sd card on the root folder. the rom image should be in .nbh format. (i have a rom called CHEEIMG.nbh by Navenedrob)
3. re-insert the mini sd cad to the phone.....I DONT KNOW WHAT DO AFTER THIS, and what do you mean by HARD SPL or SPL... is it a file i should copy along with the CHEEIMG.nbh file in the mini sd card????
PLEASE HELP ME.. what buttons do i press on my treo 750 to trigger installation...?????
thanks
Hello there if you look a couple of threads down on main form page there's a post by Navenedrob who gives step by step instructions on how to sucessful complete the whole process

Hi,
I'm sorry, I wrote that tutorial for people who couldn't use HARD SPL (A piece of software that lets you flash the phone) to get Windows Mobile 6.5.
Try formatting the memory card to FAT32 using a card reader, then from your computer, download the ROM here and paste it onto your memory card (ROM Link- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=541417 ).
Load the memory card into the phone.
Where you've just loaded the memory card, there is a Reset button. It's tiny, and its located where the memory card slot is.
On the other side of the phone is the Media Button. It's the one below the volume buttons. Hold this button down and press the Reset key with your stylus.
The screen should load into the "Bootloader" mode and try to scan your memory card. If it recognises the CHEEIMG.NBH file, it will ask you to press the Call End key and then go on installing itself (I hope).
After saying all this, please note that I'm not an expert and had to experiment. I didn't however brick my phone with a Beta release so I'm giving you this in the hopes that it will work.
Just make sure you have the CHEEIMG.NBH file. It may have a different filename (anything that comes before .nbh), you just have to rename it.
Secondly make sure your card is formatted to FAT32. Google it if you don't understand or if you don't know how. I use a mac so formatting is easy.
Thirdly, familiarize yourself with starting up in Bootloader mode.
Have a play, I hope this helps.

Here is something to keep you busy...

So, many of us are waiting patiently of a new ROM for our Alpines, courtesy of aeroflyluby and cottula, but a few people keep bugging them about release dates.
So, here is something for you. It is a linux kernel for the Alpine.
To use it you mus have a
1) Alpine (Obviously)
2) A 512mb or larger SD card (Not SDHC!)
3) Windows Computer
4) An SD card reader (You can't use the Alpine as an SD card reader for this sorry)
If you have all these then follow these instructions.
1) Download the Zip file from http://www.mediafire.com/?m7klbqdkzf4y3w6
2) Extract it to your desktop
3) Find the linux folder and copy the contents to the Storage on your Alpine
4) Open up ghost32 on your computer
5) (NOTE: If it says anything about compatibility, ignore it and carry on.) Click on local and then Disk. Then click on the 699linux.GHO file. Then click on your SD card. (Usually the smallest one) Wait for it to complete
6) Make sure that your alpine is fully charged and ALL IMPORTANT DATA IS BACKED UP.
7) Put the SD card into the Alpine and Navigate to STORAGE - NOT STORAGE CARD on the alpine.
8)Open haret.exe. It it asks for a startup.txt, make sure startup.txt is present. If here is a button ha says run or similar, click it!
9) Wait for linux to boot and Enjoy!
NOTE: I am not responsible for any damage this may cause to either he alpine or the computer used.
I cant test this at the moment as my battery is broken, if anyone can tell me what the correct voltage for the battery is it would be appreciated.
I didn't make this, just found it on bbsfans.net (I think)

It's nice, I ran it too.
I think having linux side-by-side to operate on ext2 partitions is really good think, especially for Android.
(btw, android runs really similar, but there is another ways (initrd))
Yeah, I know about initrd but this is the old style, less user friendly but less hassle to make. I think the idea of using a Ghost patch so it's easier is nice oo.

But you can forget about manual modifying..
Ext2 driver for windows works okay, but sometimes it really corrupts files or all disk too.
Isn't it quite hard to manually modify using the initgrd? I don't know as I've only read about it.
With the .GHO meathod you can use the Ghosexp to modify the .GHO file then flash it again.
Personally I think it's a draw.
NOTE: If you use this, please post. A few screens would be nice too. I would post some, but my battery is dead. If you know where to get one then please tell me by PM, or just post. Thanks
if we're talking about things that would keep yo busy until release of anything new we should appreciate this useful app for PPC2003, pLock.
It provides you lockscreen known from WM5, with ablitity of automatic locking and hardware buttons unlocking.
To configure it after installation, go into Today options and after checking pLock tap on Settings/option (don't remeber, alpine under hard development)
Download from attachment, enjoy (it's not mine)
I've got an error like this when run ghost32
error when create partitions from ghost.
I'can attach my screen shot here

"Please" would have been a nice addition here
Not sure what you might have messed up with Android, but to check the SD there's only two options:
get a new one and try again or
get yourself a µSD reader of any kind, shouldn't be too expensive
BTW: You say you installed Android and after soft reset you are in WinMo again? That doesn't sound like really having "installed" Android to me - might be an idea to post your question where you got whatever you installed on your phone to get the Android feeling.....

I'm sorry 'please' has several meaning in my culture. My culture prohibit a girl to ask 'please' to anonymous. If that word helpful, okay, please help me.
English isn't my language so you might interpret what I want to say wrongly.
Android is installed and I had run it for days. Once upon time, in the middle of proccessing something, it stuck so I did a soft reset. Then I boot into Windows Mobile (not Android) -DualBOOT- and Windows Mobile ask me to format microSD Card but after it is formatted, the card is invisible. update: I borrow my friend's an imported SD Card, microSD is detected but the computer ask to insert in it.

dualBoot was the missing detail for me.....
Purely guessing as I am not an Android expert:
Were you able to boot into WinMo before that "crash"?
Were you able to boot into Android after the crash?
Can Android handle FAT32 formatted cards?

It's Okay,
Yes no problem before. I'm not sure how my card formatted but it's original coming from the package.
Try to format SD card in computer with FAT32.
For dual boot you have make partition formated with Ext2 right? What prograd did you use for partitioning of SD? Minitool partition? Try to delete partitions used for Android.
Hi VSJ,
are u using XDAAndroid from frayaab, (I see ur post there too). My SD is also fried out. You're not alone. at least, there're 2-3 people who have the same problem. Someone said that the SD is fried out.

You should know that in X1 port Android, There are two types of releases: ones with ext2 partition and ones without. And I think this girl have android without EXT2 partition. Anyway question if Android can detect is is pretty lame, no offense, I think if the Storage Card isn't working how can you run the Android...
Don't you read that the card isn't detected. It's pretty clear, our problem that the card isn't even detected from OS File Explorer. How can that ur suggested software can detect it?
Hi VSJ, I want to update you. I've asked my friend w/o lucky and bring the card to SESC, I can assure you that SE won't guaranty SD Card.
Thank you for trying to help me.
Since the problem is occurred to many people, I dunno think that the Android only killed mine. I'm giving up. I think it's over a hardware issue.
The developer of the android also has no idea why the problem can be occurred.

well for the HD2 running WP7 it works (http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1414126.html) and considering that HD2 and HD7 basically have the same hardware I'm pretty sure it will work. Also HD7 is "newer" than HD2
somwehre in the turotial thread which talks about upgrading the sdcard for the HD7
i recall reading someone having success with a 64gb sdcard
U can always try .
but make sure u unlock yr old sdcard with the xmod cab before removing in case yr new card dont work, u need to put back yr old sdcard again
basically sdcard in wp7 is locked and u remove it and turn on the phone, the OS will think the card is locked and will not recognise , because u did not unlock it first before removing.
So dont ever do this without unlocking the old sdcard.
if u unlocked it, u can format it in the PC and put it back to the phone again it will recognise it as a fresh empty card and issue a new lock and flash to it
This is a security mechanism for privacy reasons built into wp7 Called TFAT in case someone gets hold of yr phone and removes the internal storage to read its contents if yr phone has a lock screen password . So they can still remove the internal storage to read it in PC. To Prevent this WP7 uses TFAT system
The TFAT file system is best suited for non-removable media, such as NAND and NOR flash memory. Removable media can also use TFAT, but there are potential issues when attempting to use a TFAT removable card on a Windows desktop OS. Because there is no implementation of TFAT on Windows desktop OSs.
So this why wp7 removed card are not redeable in desktop win OS
To remove this TFAT limitation u need to unlock the sdcard with the xmod cab
You can also format the card on symbian phone and make it work again normally
I think I read a post about it here, I'll get it.
But it is also true that SDXC cards use a different technology to SDHC

Nokia formatting only works on sdcard which have nodo OS in it
If u have upgraded to mango ,Nokia formatting method wont work .
With mango OS ,, u need to deploy the xmod storage unlock cab before removing it
After this u can format the sdcard in yr PC or desktop computer itself ( No nokia device needed)
If u dont use the xmod unlock cab, the card is locked forever, even nokia devices will not be able to format it

Hmm... I'll have to try the Nokia E63 the next time, if I can get my hands on one. I tried the N95 and it wouldn't recognize or format my original WP7 16gb SD card out of my HD7. I tried all kinds of phones, printer stations and cameras and nothing would work. I ended up flashing Dynamics 7 Mango version to the device and installed Storage Lock Cab via Cab Sender and unlocked 3 WP7 SD cards without any problems.

[CONFIRMED] [WORKING] 64GB Sandisk MicroSD Card Class 10

Alright Folks! The news we all have been waiting for!
I recently bought a HD7 16gig and wanted more storage. I wanted to use it as a PMP.
After going though most of the first 10 pages of results on Google, I found that many like me were
confused if just like a 32GB card, a 64gb card would work with WP7.5
There was so much confusion on this topic with many folks wanting confirmed answers before
they shelled out for a bit of silion they might end up not needing...
So I mustered the courage and bought myself one of these:
http://www.sandisk.com/products/memory-cards/microsd/
The Sandisk Ultra 64gb MicroSD-XC Class 10 (XC stands for Xtended capacity)
This card runs on exFAT and is fully supported by the HD2.
WARNING: YOUR PHONE NEEDS TO BE UPDATED TO THE LATEST BOOTLOADER FOR THIS TO WORK SUCCESSFULLY.
ALMOST ALL 5.XX.XXXX (XXXXXX) WORK. ANYTHING LESSER MAY NOT WORK AND MIGHT POSSIBLE BRICK YOUR PHONE.

I missed your PM, but congrats! I took my 64 out to put in my L810, but after learning you can only use internal storage for apps on WP8 (8GB..ugh!), I'm going to put it back in the HD7.
I want to know how to reuse the 16gig card that I took out from my HD7... not clear on that... any idea?
