Read a site the other day that basically read as ics is available for update to the Vivid. Ill look for the site again and post the link. Any truth to this?

No truth to it. AT&T Software update is showing no updates available currently.

Should've been moved to the trash.
ICS isn't officially available for any device now. HTC says early 2012 for any of their devices.
I did read that our device will be avaialbe in early 2012 but nothing for a while i assume.
I would Guess Feb. or March if HTC stands by early 2012 release date.
yes it will get ICS
source:
http://techdweller.com/?p=40
I can see where the confusion came from just by reading what HTC's Statement was.
" We can confirm the brand new HTC Vivid is upgradeable to Ice Cream Sandwich"
I can see how if that is out of context or someone doesn't know that ICS isn't even on the market yet would confuse people.

Thanks, Herwood!
Would not be a stretch to imagine Froyo coming for the UK Milestones either then.
This August is going to be a long month!
Mid to end of september? That means i could get it as a birthday present =D

Eh? Where is that info from? Does this mean that Motorola made up their mind about Milestone getting FroYo after all??

According to HTC, Gingerbread upgrade for Incredible S will be on June for Singapore.
"Dear Alexander,
Thank you for contacting HTC.
With reference to your query, Incredible S may receive upgrade to Android 2.3 in June this year.
Thank you for your continuous support of our products and services. Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
We look forward to be of service to you again"
That's pretty slow, my opinion.
Better late than never? LOL
June....I hoping we got the update in April. I guess June is about right. These next 2 months the phone should be out there more in one variation or another in the Canada, the States and some more places overseas.
In my opinion to HTC's reply is earliest is June.

True ....
If it will be as with the Hero, then the update will be released at Christmas time, at best
This has alreayd been posted before:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1014937
and I'll say what I said there again. Customer services just give a generic date, until HTC make an official announcement, they don't know anymore than we do. I have already seen a couple of leaks of the GB rom floating about (nothing that can be publicly released or flashed due to NDA's) but I can't see any reason for it not being sooner
When it launches as the droid incredible 2 here in the states it will have gingerbread pre-loaded, so there would be no excuse to not have the INCs on GB before that, verizon ad's a ton of crapware to the device and not to mention cdma vs. gsm, we should get gingerbread before the Dinc2, at least I hope so.
Hy guys . I'm a new user of Xda forum so sorry if That's not the good place for thread.
I've a little question, Officially, HTC says sense 3.0 is esp. for new mobiles but anyone knows if this version will arrive inside our Incredible S mobile ?
T.U
i think this has been mentioned before, but well
after 2.3.3 update or higher... we should recieve it by than
Some features of Sense 3.0 are supposed to make it to an update for the Incredible S, but not all. Which ones haven't been announced yet.
Ok thank you for the information
And sorry i've mentioned for the second time.
I'm sure HTC skipped releasing gingerbread this month as they promised to make the sense UI 3.0 compatible with the release.

I hate to see this date creeping back due to upgrades, but I do like the look of the new sense... with the hero firts it was and upgrade to 1.6, then they pushed it back for 2.0, then pushed it back for 2.1... it took quite a while.
Still, HTC's original statement for the IS and MWC was Gingerbread in Q2, Which is April-May-June, so they still have 2 months to keep to their original word. the did say they would encorporate some features of 3.0 onto older phones (i.e older than the sensation), and although they didn't say which devices the IS and DS are most logical. However, that doesn't mean to say the gingerbread update and the Sense update will one and the same, they might be delivered seperatly, as gingerbread with sense is already released with Sense 2.0 on the DS, and the leaked builds for the IS are still Sense 2.0
I'm so sorry to tell you that is "NO", HTC had announced that Sense 3.0 is only for duo-core HTC and Flyer.

The question was if Sense 3.0 would be available for the IS. It will not.
They will try to "incorporate some aspects" as said in the Cnet article via Twitter.
Would you call a version of your software 3.0 if it has less features then another 3.0 version you've made? Especially if you have version numbers 2.2 to 2.9 available?
I posted the twitter link as a source to my arguments. As I am sick and tired of people posting stuff like: "A guy at HTC told me" without any official source.
I think this is a good way to prevent forum spamming, because you have a direct link to the posters source.
You did exactly the same with the Cnet aritcle, I don't know what the problem is.
a) Twiiter is not an offical source, a press release is
b) It depends what gets ported and what doesn't. If sense come over without some of the animations then yes I would say its the same. Until we know what will and what won't there is no point telling people 'it's not comming' and spreading FUD. It's much better to say "some of it's coming, we don't know what". See my point?
I'm sick and tired of people Acting like they are better than everyone else. The CNET article explained and linked to both tweets and explained the timeline involved, which is why I linked to it.

I find it strange that you are so angry. In the last sentence I complemented you on giving a source. I merely gave a source of my information as well. If you wan't credit for being first, you should have said so.
All I ment to do was, as explained in my previous post. To give the source of my information, and make it easier for someone reading the forum.
Writing this I'm wondering. Do you think I'm accusing you of being a "a guy at HTC told me" dude, because that is certainly not the case.
Anyway, you are accusing me of acting to be better than everybody else.
When I was just taking part in a forum discussion. I find this a little offensive.
But hell this is the internets.

HTC Incredible S: June-July
This will be the rebirth of IncS ROMS .

I think it is because lot of people want new phones quite often! If there are no buyers then there would not be any new phones.
I think we should be fortunate enough to get an ICS release for IncS. Not many manufacturers provide this kind of support to their 2 old mobile devices.
Yea...they should release it or am going to sell my phone now

Did HTC promise you ICS when you bought your phone?
Didn't think so.

No. you have posted on a thread in the Incredible S forum, not the HTC Desire forum.
Why another thread about this?
Even now just on the front page there are 2 other threads talking about the same updates..
It'll come when it comes...
And for all those who are whining about updates not being on time, remember your phone manufacture gains nothing (read money) by updating your phone.
They might as well sell another phone with the latest software and make money off it than having their devs work on something which will make no money.
And if by threatening to sell a particular brand of phone & never buy one again, the phone manufacturers have seen this over and over again and it is acceptable collateral. you think it's going to be any different with any other phone maker?
the logic applies for everyone.
Only iPhones have a longer support cycle of around 3 years, but hey if you are gonna be happy with what an iphone offers, me thinks you should already be there.
can we please just wait for ICS to be released rather than opening a thousand new threads about the same topic?
Please feel free to fill the existing threads with 100 pages of curses, abuses, wishes whatever....
so i was looking around the interwebs for rumor release dates for Android 4.3 on the sprint HTC One. i found some threads of people saying that they thought that the update was supposed to arrive by the end of September. I went on to the sprint website and in the chat I had this conversation with a sprint worker:
Sprint: Thank you for your recent payment. You’re invited to enroll in AutoPay, our most convenient way to pay.
Click here to set up automatic monthly payments or exit the chat window if you don’t need to chat with a Specialist.
Sprint: To chat with a Specialist, type a question below and click SEND.
You: hi i was wondering when the Android 4.3 update will be available for the HTC One
Kristina C.: Thank you for contacting Sprint, my name is Kristina C.. I am happy to help you today.
Kristina C.: Hi.
Kristina C.: You want to verify when is the Android 4.3 update for HTC One, am I correct?
You: yes
Kristina C.: I see, let me check our Android update tools to provide the right information.
Kristina C.: One moment please.
Kristina C.: Thank you for waiting.
You: you're welcome
Kristina C.: Upon checking the Android update tools it showed that there is no information yet on when the Android 4.3 will start to launch, here is what you need to do, please visit our website at www.sprint.com/newsroon.
Kristina C.: www.sprint.com/newsroom so that you can check the update every now and then.
You: ok
Kristina C.: My supervisor confirm that there will be an update this coming 09/23/13 for the Android.
You: is this the Android 4.3 update?
Kristina C.: Yes, and other Android phones update, just check it on 09/23 to 10/06/13.
You: ok thank you very much
does this seem like good evidence for a possible September 23rd release date for Android 4.3 on the HTC One??
Sounds hot to me. Now DROP IT. This phone needs it.

Oh **** that's next monday
Being sprint, I give it as much credit as "Were updating our towers" and "The $10 extra is for WiMax 4G data" which I have yet to see both in my city since 2009
Yeah, as much as I want to believe, I'm casting my vote for "no way in Hell".
Interpret this as you choose to....

Nope.
I don't trust the Sprint chat people. Or Sprint in general. Or HTC.
I once asked via chat if any Sprint stores around me could do a warranty claim (not insurance) for me, and I was referred to a store. I was immediately shot down because I had no insurance. The guy said the chat guy could have been a robot.
Yeesh.
Its near for sure, I don't trust the info from Sprint but at the same time just another tidbit of info to confirm SOON. With all that info that Jason Mackenzie has provided lately on twitter and the tweet provided above I would say all is adding up for a very close release.
BUT, will 4.3 satisfie, hell no, few weeks after the update all will be crying for some Kit Kat and complain its not soon enough. I give it a week or two after release...... the crying wheres my kit kat threads will appear
So yeah wheres my kit kat already?! :silly:

i just want them to update to 4.3 due to the fact that the good HTC one roms like viperone rom are for ALL the variants of the HTC one except the sprint variant -_____- and on the rom page it states that the the rom will become availabe to sprint htc ones when they get the 4.2.2 update but they skipped that so hopefully 4.3 will still make those awesome roms available.
The updated file structure (example being user profiles) will make flashing much more simple.
