so i was looking around the interwebs for rumor release dates for Android 4.3 on the sprint HTC One. i found some threads of people saying that they thought that the update was supposed to arrive by the end of September. I went on to the sprint website and in the chat I had this conversation with a sprint worker:
Sprint: Thank you for your recent payment. You’re invited to enroll in AutoPay, our most convenient way to pay.
Click here to set up automatic monthly payments or exit the chat window if you don’t need to chat with a Specialist.
Sprint: To chat with a Specialist, type a question below and click SEND.
You: hi i was wondering when the Android 4.3 update will be available for the HTC One
Kristina C.: Thank you for contacting Sprint, my name is Kristina C.. I am happy to help you today.
Kristina C.: Hi.
Kristina C.: You want to verify when is the Android 4.3 update for HTC One, am I correct?
You: yes
Kristina C.: I see, let me check our Android update tools to provide the right information.
Kristina C.: One moment please.
Kristina C.: Thank you for waiting.
You: you're welcome
Kristina C.: Upon checking the Android update tools it showed that there is no information yet on when the Android 4.3 will start to launch, here is what you need to do, please visit our website at www.sprint.com/newsroon.
Kristina C.: www.sprint.com/newsroom so that you can check the update every now and then.
You: ok
Kristina C.: My supervisor confirm that there will be an update this coming 09/23/13 for the Android.
You: is this the Android 4.3 update?
Kristina C.: Yes, and other Android phones update, just check it on 09/23 to 10/06/13.
You: ok thank you very much
does this seem like good evidence for a possible September 23rd release date for Android 4.3 on the HTC One??
Sounds hot to me. Now DROP IT. This phone needs it.

Oh **** that's next monday
Being sprint, I give it as much credit as "Were updating our towers" and "The $10 extra is for WiMax 4G data" which I have yet to see both in my city since 2009
Yeah, as much as I want to believe, I'm casting my vote for "no way in Hell".
Interpret this as you choose to....

Nope.
I don't trust the Sprint chat people. Or Sprint in general. Or HTC.
I once asked via chat if any Sprint stores around me could do a warranty claim (not insurance) for me, and I was referred to a store. I was immediately shot down because I had no insurance. The guy said the chat guy could have been a robot.
Yeesh.
Its near for sure, I don't trust the info from Sprint but at the same time just another tidbit of info to confirm SOON. With all that info that Jason Mackenzie has provided lately on twitter and the tweet provided above I would say all is adding up for a very close release.
BUT, will 4.3 satisfie, hell no, few weeks after the update all will be crying for some Kit Kat and complain its not soon enough. I give it a week or two after release...... the crying wheres my kit kat threads will appear
So yeah wheres my kit kat already?! :silly:

i just want them to update to 4.3 due to the fact that the good HTC one roms like viperone rom are for ALL the variants of the HTC one except the sprint variant -_____- and on the rom page it states that the the rom will become availabe to sprint htc ones when they get the 4.2.2 update but they skipped that so hopefully 4.3 will still make those awesome roms available.
The updated file structure (example being user profiles) will make flashing much more simple.

According to HTC, Gingerbread upgrade for Incredible S will be on June for Singapore.
"Dear Alexander,
Thank you for contacting HTC.
With reference to your query, Incredible S may receive upgrade to Android 2.3 in June this year.
Thank you for your continuous support of our products and services. Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
We look forward to be of service to you again"
That's pretty slow, my opinion.
Better late than never? LOL
June....I hoping we got the update in April. I guess June is about right. These next 2 months the phone should be out there more in one variation or another in the Canada, the States and some more places overseas.
In my opinion to HTC's reply is earliest is June.

True ....
If it will be as with the Hero, then the update will be released at Christmas time, at best
This has alreayd been posted before:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1014937
and I'll say what I said there again. Customer services just give a generic date, until HTC make an official announcement, they don't know anymore than we do. I have already seen a couple of leaks of the GB rom floating about (nothing that can be publicly released or flashed due to NDA's) but I can't see any reason for it not being sooner
When it launches as the droid incredible 2 here in the states it will have gingerbread pre-loaded, so there would be no excuse to not have the INCs on GB before that, verizon ad's a ton of crapware to the device and not to mention cdma vs. gsm, we should get gingerbread before the Dinc2, at least I hope so.
I emailed HTC and Virgin Mobile Canada the other day, and they said this,
"Thank you for taking the time to reply. We currently do not have the information available to us. At this time the Incredible S's that are slated to receive the ICS update are the ones in the European regions. You may visit htc.com, twitter.com/htc and facebook.com/htc for update information as it becomes announced."
Virgin Mobile said this,
"You've reached ****** with Virgin Mobile! First, allow me to apologize for the delay in my response. Your patience and understanding are appreciated. I'm happy to escalate your feedback about the Android 4.0 update. I know this is important to you and I'm happy to point you in the right direction.
******, I've escalated your email to ensure it's reviewed. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback." This could mean that we
IncS users might see an Android 4.0 update! Virgin Mobile is BAD for updating their phones, but as you may already know, HTC has been working their hardest to work with carriers, and as VMC's update stated that they are happy to point me/us in the right direction, and will escalate it to ensure its reviewed!
Edit!: I emailed Virgin again, and they said that they are working very hard to get this update available! NOW im excited!

Good to hear. I'm with SaskTel which is in a similar vain, and even though I'm installing custom ICS ROMs anyways, it would be nice to see everyone get the update and move to ICS.
Though then, I'd have to stop joking that I'm in the 1%.
I rooted once, but i had to send my phone to get fixed, because it had a charge port malfunction, and they charged $200 to fix it because of the root access, so i am running all stock, which is why i am excited for VM to work out something with HTC

Hey guys. New leak just came out. Think this is as close to the official date as it gets. I can't wait. What do you think http://www.tmonews.com/2012/05/upco...galaxy-note-and-huawei-based-mytouch-devices/

This was posted by someone else on this same general forum about 5 days ago. A second post is always good incase people didn't see it the first time. There are some real assholes on our threads that complain about everything so don't let it get to you when you get a flood of people being rude about you making this post. Just ignore it!
are there plans to release it to any other carriers than tmobile? just curious....

I don't think so. I think this is gonna continue being a GSM only device. Other carriers may get it around the world but I doubt Sprint and Verizon will ever get it. There was a rumor in Jan that VZW & Sprint were getting it under the name Journal but that has since been proven to be the codename of a different device.
Thanks
Good info
Omg double posts lol just kidding its a good read no matter how many times we see it thank u

The question is will it be the same hardware as the At&T version or the international version? The pictures indicate that more than likely it will be the same at the AT&T but why would T-Mo phone have a LTE modem? It would be great if it had the same specs as the international. Just my .02 cents.
Idk about everyone else but this made me kind of excited lol
http://www.phonearena.com/news/HTC-One-will-skip-4.2.2-and-go-straight-to-4.3-says-president_id46519
This may only be for the HTC One Dev edition, which is what the question was about, but since the dev edition is just an unlocked HTC One, it seems likely the plan will be the same for all One devices in the U.S.

As far as we know, we may get stranded on 4.1.

^This. I will not be buying HTC or CDMA phones again. At least with GSM, you can use international updates.
Forget it im going back to my damn G1
Jason Mackenzie is answering A LOT of questions on twitter today... Allegedly he wants 4.3 on the dev edition by the end of September if not earlier.
Guys, there are already like 20 threads on the update. Is a new one for each comment, story, or reference to it really necessary?

If any of you guys are MIUI fans and would like to see it get an official port please take the time to make an account for the English MIUI site and vote in the thread listed above. Whichever phone gets more votes will get the official release first.

I just watched a video of MIUI v5 and that's pretty freakin' impressive. HTC should take a couple notes here. I wonder though, if they decide to officially support the HTC One, is it going to be for International versions only, or would it work completely with Sprint's model? I'd be willing to root my phone to get an official version of this, but only if it's not something we have to port.

oh, didn't see that. well i won't quite apologize for making this thread if it helps lead to more votes for the HTC ONE.
i'm actually contemplating trading my HTC ONE for a S4 because they have a more functional version of MIUI up and running.

it would be official for the international version of the phone.
we have the sprint variant.
the WHOLE WORLD uses GSM.
Sprint uses CDMA.
so we would have to port the official one to work with our radios.
