Hi xda,
i am in a serious problem with this EFS , i was using congition H3 rom and i decided to goto Batista70 FOXHOUND EDITION 2.4. from there my problem started, my gameloft games were not working like 9mm and nova 2, so i had to reflash twice, on the second reflash the games started working but i lost network, my product code, my mac id for wifi and bluetooth, i got the generic IMEI-004999010640000, i was never aware of EFS and its use coz its never mentioned in the ROM sectioned(i think that should be the first thing custom ROM pages should have in big red words that back up ur EFS coz it Important)
Anyways the batista had backed up my EFS but i deleted as i was not aware how important it is-genius me, i dont have any EFS back up with me and i have tried all the forum in xda and on the internet but failed to fix it, I am from INDIA and out of 4 prepaid carrier one is working i dont how but its working with the fake IMEI but the other 3 are getting rejected-no network, i have flashed back to first firmware phone came with i.e-I9100XWKE8, service centre in mumbai are asking for lot of money to repair it in which i can buy another phone, IS THERE A MESSIAH out there who can help me as i have always looked up XDA for solution and has worked for me. This is my sincere request and i am ready to donate both xda and the person who helps me $20 each as i understand its a hard job to do and it require skils. please help me out with this. Thank you
I can't help you (assuming you have tried deleting nv_data.bin & nv_data.bin.md5 and rebooted) but I can tell you why it still works and thats because it's not a fake IMEI but a generic one.

Do a simple search in the sgs2 forum. IMEI as keyword should show you several threads wich possible solutions. Read, try and ask again if nothing helped.
EFS fixed
hi XDA,
I knew there was genius out there who can resolve it and i am really thankful to god that i got in touch with ODIA because of Northern Loop post the ODIA is a Super Dev http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103357. He really fixed it and I did not had any backup, I WILL REPEAT I DID NOT HAD ANY BACK UPS AND EFS WAS MESSED UP. Service centre just sucks as they don't have any knowledge, I have attached the proof that Odia has fixed it and the guy is EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL in his work. I always believed that the issue can be fixed as there is nothing like cannot be fixed in mobile phone, bricked phones can work again why not corrupt EFS can be fixed?, ODIA proved me right and im sorry for those who dont believe like segunmichaelolu
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332125, U need to trust developers they go through a lot of hardwork even sometimes working through out the night to find a solution for one of the most complicate EFS files. Thank ODIA and THANKS XDA
P.S-IF U APPRECIATE HARD AND SMART WORK I DON'T THINK ANYONE SHOULD HAVE PROBLEM PAYING SOMEONE WHEN THE ISSUE CAN BE FIXED. THE PERSON HAS NOT LEARNED THE ART FOR FREE OR GOD TAUGHT HIM HOW TO FIX IT
I need help too fixing my EFS
I don't have a EFS backup either, It does not show the IMEI, No service even when a simcard is inserted and indicates unknown Baseband in the phone info section. I'm willing to pay $20 for a foolproof solution that will permanently fix My SGS2 I9100, Restore it's IMEI to the Origianl one and have it working normal again. So if bryanfuryin22 Says Odia performed a genius miracle for him I believe He can do the same for Me
*Fingers Crossed* Odia tell me you can fix my problem?

The chances of Odia seeing this post are pretty much zero, since he has never participated in this thread.
Send him a (polite) PM, and wait patiently for an answer.

Since Odia isn't receiving PMs at the moment, and MIGHT have a notification set to alert him when he is mentioned, I'm posting here instead - similar "lost" IMEI problem on a Captivate (due to rooting sloppily 2 years ago when I was younger and braver), now gun shy about fixing it on my own after reading all of the 9-step guide thread. If Odia sees this and is willing to assist, a PM would be welcome.
I think you'll find Odia hasn't done this sort of thing for a very long time due to being overwhelmed by n00bs who didn't take EFS backups. Take it to a local mobile repair shop now rather than putting yourself through whatever period of hopeful anticipation only to have that hope dashed (I'm just being honest with you here).
Edit - Also, as your device has it's own dedicated fora, you're not even allowed to post here. I'm asking mods to move your post back where it belongs (my point about Odia no longer doing this stands though).

This thread is a year old, i would suggest making a new one or looking for a more resent next time.
Now that being said, you can recover you IMEI by flashing stock kk4 with Odin (which can be found in the stickies). Of you're already on gb or up, use the non-bootloaders version.

I don't exactly get your post.. You could've been useful instead of being "honest" (harsh).

Being honest with people is about them having a working phone again in the shortest possible period of time rather than faffing around with snake oil miracle cures & all kinds of ridiculous promises in threads on here which simply don't work.
But eh, if you want to build the OP's hopes up with a bunch of stuff that has no hope of working only to have the realisation that the fix I mentioned in my PP is the only way dawn on the OP in a week/two weeks/whatever & have them without a working phone for that period, knock yourself out.

Flashing stock kk4 does restore your IMEI (95% of the time).

Hello all!!
I have recently tried to flash my Galaxy and me being the most useless person with technology must have done something wrong and now cannot work the phone.
Im pretty sure the message (now cant remember what it said) means it has ROM or something (please excuse my limited knowldege)
Anyway because I played around with it, its not under warranty hence they have to charge me.
However they have asked for $400 to fix the phone. Now I bought my phone for $900..??
I do accept my fault for breaking the phone in the first place, however I think $400 is a bit too much..
Now to my main question, is there a way for me to fix this myself?? or is there a cheaper place where I can fix this because this has gone way too far..
Living without my Android is like hell..
Can someone please help me!!!!
argh!!
I will try to get a better description of the fault if I can.
try reading some manuals and stuff like that on the forum
if it is rom related i think all u will need to do is flash a new rom from odin
just read and dig
if its software no problem to fix
i am learning my self too i had my phone not booting and stuff but after reading all good.
Ya, I got my phone bricked also, but managed to fix it. Basically search more info and tutorials for your particular problem and ways to fix it and you`ll find a way.
Did you drop it or?
If yes, you should repair it and pay :/
If not, setup adb and reflash your android!

My advise pay few dollars buy jig ebay flash with odin save yoursef 390+ dollars it is usb download jig very cheep believe it is exactly what you need

One the beginning as always .
Can you access download mode via 3 button or even recovery mode .
If so the probability is you can flash a stock rom to at least have a phone covered under warranty. If not working 100%.
jje
Forgive me if this has been asked before but how important is it to have the correct IMEI?
I've been flashing my phone since i got it a year ago but in the last week i've been using a miui rom for the first time. I love the rom but as many others have said my imei is now wrong. The thing is i have no problems with data, calls or messages or anything else.
Do i need to restore it or carry on and don't worry about it?
cheers
Warranty! If something happens to your phone and you want it to be fixed, your IMEI is checked, if it's not correct I'm pretty sure they will not repair it. Also most people claim to have issues using android market and making calls, but obviously this is not your problem.
Thanks for that. I won't worry about mine for the moment as everything is working fine.
Under the battery, you see your correct IMEI, so you can check if it is the same if you write *#06# in your dialer.

If you lose your phone, the IMEI number can be used to block it
So flashing with a custom rom will change the imei? That's great!
I will be getting a SGS2 soon, and the phone is associated to my identity which i think it is absolutely unacceptable (I can understand others wanting this in case their phone gets stolen, but at least I think it should be optional)
Please dont come with legalities... the illegals are the governments and corporations building this unfair system and using technology against the population to control them and keep their position on top.
Should we build a .onion site like Silk Road for IMEI spoofing development and IMEI number exchange?
Thanks

IMEI changes only when the rom flashing process went wrong .. when your IMEI is wrong your device will keep crashing every 2 seconds and you wont be able to use the phone at all. . ( I've had this already O_O )
MY SGS is acting funny after installing Mitra ROM with Rom Manager. I backed up the old OS and the old recovery. But now it got deleted by accident.
Now i have the following problems.
- Cant connect to PC (dont suggest me to try other cables , other computers , install drivers etc.)
- Odin wont work
-Android SDK wont work
-When someone calls me the phone shuts off
-The Mitra ROM is accessible but there are alot of bugs , i can still use it if i have to perform something.
-Recovery mode wont work.
-Download mode works but my computer wont detect my phone.
-Phone shuts off when i enable wifi
What i want to do is:
]- Use some app one the phone which will wipe everything so i can install original Gingerbread rom again.
I can use a SD card reader to transfer stuff into the SD car and then use Astro to transfer the files to Internal memory.
I am completely stuck please suggest me something that will actually work , do not suggest me basic stuff that works with some lucky people because i have tried everything and i am aware of what options i have left.[/SIZE]

Dude, please don't blame a ROM for a fault on your phone that was there when you bought it!!
You really don't have to keep opening new thread for the same problem over and over and over and over....
We get it, you get it, the phone is knackered, you bought it like that, take the damn thing to a Samsung/independent repair shop and get it fixed!!!
There is no magical app this week that will fix it, there wasn't one last week and there won't be next week.
So seriously save yourself and us the time, effort and aggravation and get your ass to a service center! I am sorry for sounding harsh but look at all the threads you've posted...

The only fault with the phone was that it wouldnt connect to usb , all the other problems occurred after i installed Mitra ROM
I never got a clear answer , ok so the repair shop will magically fix the phone? I dont have any warranty now because of this rom
There was no other problem with the phone when i bought it , besides the usb connecting issue.
Lol, yes they will magically fix it, probably charge you something to replace the USB port or motherboard.
But honestly I think that is your only option.
You could ask them for an estimate before any work is carried out or you could try to return the phone to the guy you bought it from.

I need some information from experts who actually try to find a solution instead of giving a solution that i am already aware of.
Im not stupid , if i had warranty i would have headed up to the shop instead of making threads here.

Ok well I've had this Galaxy S and decided to follow a tutorial from a reputable website (not gonna name which one) and after following it, it led to the freezing of odin and as a result a hard bricking of my galaxy S. tried so many things read so many threads on this forum, ive even ordered a jig to try to use despite people saying that it won't work. then finally accepted the fact that it was screwed unless i used a jtagbox. now im not the best with that sort of stuff but just wanted to know if anyone knows any PROPER EXPERIENCED technicians in Australia if possible (in Sydney even more preferable) that can carry out the proper procedure for jtag. obviously if theres noone nearby im willing to post the phone out to them . what sort of price am i looking at for the procedure?
thanks in advance guys

I just found the Samsung Note GT-N7000 lying on a wall by my job. what perfect timing seeing as my other phone broke. unfortunately, I'm having a few issues.
1. Phone will not perform a hard reset. I've done the volume up+ home+ power keys and the phone will not respond. I've tried doing it through the settings and can't seem to figure out the password.
2. WLAN fails to enable
3. I'm on T-Mobile and the phone will not recognize my data connection. I receieve calls and texts just fine. But, I cannot connect to the internet.
Is it possible the phone is region locked? would I have to go to T-Mobile and get them to unlock it? any help is greatly appreciated asap. I rely on my phone for work and really need it to perform.
I hate to be that person. But, bump
Could you not ask the original owner who put his phone down for a second, whether its simlocked...? As I am sure he/she will love to answer that for you..
I'm guessing by now, chances are the phone has prolly been reported stolen and de-activated by now... And will end up just being a Tablet very soon...

You act as if I made no attempt at finding the owner of the device. But, I don't think I need to explain myself to you.
if the phone was deactivated, would I still be able to receive calls and texts? because I can.
Who would lose a note and not want it back.however long it takes I think u should find a way to return it.return it to the network provider they will know the owner as I'm sure he or she is registered

It is true, you dont have to explain yourself to me... However, I am sure many other people see this post in the same way. As you've not extactly made your post appear as though you've tried all you can to return it to the rightful owner. No mention of this... Only that you found it on a wall and it comes in handy as your other phone has died? And barely 3.5 hrs after posting the initial request, that your bumping a thread for answers, which shows your desperate for that quick answer...
Some times it can take a couple of days before people see or will reply to a post, not hours...
Not wishing to be mean or anything, but ya gotta see it from other peoples point of view too... Not saying you didnt try to return it... But nothing in your posts express that, only your eagerness to Restore the phone into a working state that you can use...
Don't return it, there stupid fault for losing it... Keep it and enjoy it did.

Seriously? Really?
If so, then let's move further - if someone is stupid enough to keep the phone accessible in public, he just deserves to have it stolen.
The difference between pavement and somebody's pocket is negligible, isn't it?
PS. To the OP - usually, with a found phone, it's enough to dial one of the most recent calls to find who is the owner.
Well said p107r0... My thoughts exactly...
Its not hard to just dial the first person in the phonebook, or recent calls...
My dads mate lost his phone, ok so it wasnt a Smartphone or anything to be proud of finding... just ya old basic call/text type... But he uses it for work, all his contacts and would be lost without it...
Yet one day I was in a pub, enjoying a drink and I get a random call from his phone... The person who found it in the street dialed my number as it was alphabetically first and told me he found it and where he could return it too. I was so pleased to hear honesty from him, and told my dad who passed it onto his mate. This person even waited around for when was a good time for my dads mate to see him, he was so pleased to get it back he rewarded him....
So before anything says its their own dumb fault, they deserve it... Just think if it was your own phone... Would you be happy if you lost access to all your data?? Knowing someone has got something of YOURS?? If your that kind of person, well lets hope they take something from you or your family.. and see how it feels????
