[Q] How fast is SGT in comparison to other gadgets? - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I am considering buying a tab atm but want to know how fast it is with good MIUI and stock roms. The tabs I saw on display were extremely slow..
If anybody could give me a comparison to other phones, ill be thankful
Cheers!

Yeah, most of the Custom ROMs for the Galaxy Tab (Overcome as well as MIUI and CM7) do make the Tab run heaps faster. The single-core CPU will be noticeably slower than some of the newer dual-core hardware as apps continue to get more advanced, so the choice is yours. Still, I can attest that for the majority of use, my Tab running Overcome is more than speedy enough.

It is not fair to compare the original galaxy tab with the latest tabs available. And I should say it is really slow and sometimes force closes on the latest apps optimized for the latest tabs.
Remember it is more than 1 year old, and for today's technology is considered obsolete.
I would also like to add that despite of being old it is the only tablet that has complete phone functions integrated.

Is the speed comparable to a SGS?

As far as I know ROM, RAM, CPU & GPU is concerned, it essentially is an SGS.

[Q] How to Make Galaxy note faster?

I recently bought note (white) and it runs on stock rom. I have a gs2 as well, and i feel note is laggy sometimes and not as superfast as gs2. i dont prefer custom roms. Is there any tips to make the phone faster? I have many apps running in sd instead of phone. would that make a diff?

I think we just need to give samsung time to create better stock roms for us. Having been on the full journey for sgs1 im sure the note will be blazing fast in the future roms

For the time being use an alternative launcher which should give you a boost, example LauncherPro...
But still felt smoother with stock launcher.
thanks, it wox
Update to Kl7 firmware. It seems to have resolved most of the lagginess that made the Note feel slow

right. KL7 fixed it all.
I prefer GoLauncher, it's much smoother than LauncherPro. Homescreen switching is not as smooth as Touchwhiz tho.

Lol, funny how these launcher's work. In my case it's the opposite, LauncherPro is miles faster & smoother than both ADW Launcher & GoLauncher...
Ha, ADW has been very smooth on mine! I have not tried the other launchers on my note yet though. I updated to KL7 ota within an hour of acquiring the device, and have not experienced any lag whatsoever.
Guys, I am been a die hard fan of Apple iPhone and just last week I have shifted to Android, so I am not sure what you guys are talking about when it comes to launcher and KL5 or KL 7. Can someone guide me? My G-Note is not smooth as it should have been. I will appreciate an honest guidance
If you have task killer remove it. This device has enough ram

[Q] galaxy note - fast under ICS?

Hello,
after asking some info about the the battery on airplane mide, I ha now some question about ICS.
I have tested today the galaxy note, in a shop, running under android 2.1 or 2.3 ( I don' t remember...)
the device was so slow to use. it was really really slow. a lot of lags, the behavior was not good.
is the galaxy note faster with ICS?
thank you
olivier
There are varying opinions. Personally i found it smoother generally although was using launcher7 instead of touchwiz. The task management is fantastic. If youre looking at stock ics, samsung in their wisdom have skinned it exactly the same as gb which really annoyed me!
There are settings to select if you want hardware image decoding or software, i have a feeling its glitchy if using software.

Known problems for Galaxy Tab P7300?

Hello!
I want to buy a used Galaxy Tab P7300and I wanted to know if there are some specific problems for this device: some touchscreen issues, some display rendition issues, anything. Something similar like "black clipping" specific for galaxy note and galaxy nexus...anything
I'm waiting for your answers..
I do think it is worth highlighting the lag/smoothness which sometimes occurs when swiping between screens in TouchWiz. Other launchers help and hoping this will be addressed with ics update. This was my only concern with it out of the box. Search lag or similar in these forums and will see a few hits.
Btw, I still love mine and reckon this is the best form factor (few products in its league).
With the ics update the 7310 it is quite perfect. Super smooth and fast. Zero lang switching between homes.
I believe that the ics for the 7300 will work just like that.
The only thing that you should consider would be the nexus 7 vs the 7300.
Cheers.

Thank you for your answers. I appreciate.
I don't take the Nexus 7 in consideration because of the size (I have already a Galaxy Tab P3100), because it doesn't have a camera, a LED flash and the 3g facility.
Thanx again!

The con of the nexus 7 is indeed the size... although I just find it small when it comes to video... to the rest is quite great.
The pro is the update... it already runs JB... We are just getting ICS... a OS that came out almost a year a go...
Your choice
I just found out samsung all share and I'm overwhelmed! #win

How fast do you need it to be? I've used the 4s and the 5 and, while they are excellent handsets (yeah - I said it! ), they are not better or faster, in my opinion, just different. the latest JB ROMs are impressive, in terms of overall usability and functionality. Try them

Can it take anymore ?

Developer community, hi, I had the S1 for about 2 years and still do, its very good phone yo know , however, what ever I do its too slow! I'm running Android 4.2.2 with over clocked CPU and 400+ of RAM, and sometimes when I leave a small app to main, it take sometime to load the launcher,so what's wrong? Was Google right when it stopped the Nexus S updates at 4.1.2 because it can take any farther? Does project better even exist? The fastest ROM I had ever install was ICS RC2 which worked perfectly (I could run MC3 at background then leave and do some thing else, then want back and its where I have lift it) but I had datadata problem and I had to try something els. Know a days ,some new flagships had less specification than S1 and work smother!, in short words: can I make my phone faster ?
All thanks and appreciates to whom worked to develop this great phone.

Well, the more recent phones that come out right now for the low-end market are running alot newer chips than the S1 has. In my opinion, you shouldn't go to far with flashing newer versions of Android. But on the other hand, everyone wants to be on the most recent version of Android. Google had a reason for not pushing 4.2 to the Nexus S. Other manufacturers don't bring out updates for newer phones (for no reason), but Google had a good reason, because the Nexus S' hardware is outdated.
Unfortunately i doubt you can get your smoothest experience in 4.2.2.
If you want pure smoothness you should try a custom 2.3.7 as that would be ideal although i reckon 4.0.4(cm9 base) would do quite a decent job as well.
You have to try out different ROMs and see what best fits your needs.
Is a way that i use it and is good and smooth
But if expect like sg3 no it's not exactly like that but it's close. And don't disturb u
Cause our hardware's are a part of history
I installed 1.2gb apk and work smooth mostly software not game
First;
Buy a sd card high class 10
Format internal storage
Install cm latest version 4.2.2 with Odin
Install kernel like fishear
And set it up
Install cyanDelta
Install auto memory killer and set in optimum value
Install Roehsoft apk and make virtual memory on your external SD
Also never install any luncher cause it's own luncher is very light
and enjoy it
is good for daily works And smooth

Of course 4.2.2 isn't going to be perfect. Pushing Project Butter onto our phone was a feat in itself. The smoothest 4.2.2 I've tried is Slim Bean, which really is pretty amazing. But don't be surprised about the fact that the phone can't handle Jelly Bean as well as it should. Its 3rd year anniversary is approaching fast.
Its still a wonder our single-core can handle it fine.

Hei man I dont know what roms are you using but try thinkingridge stable by aways and the c-rom mix 18...everything is stable at 55 frames per second in the ui...and ofcourse your phone will slowdown if you put a lot of stuff in it...its normal...you cannot pretend that is going to be fast as when you fresh install the rom..my girlfriend's iphone 4 is stock,no mods but still it lags a lot more than my VERY OLD I9000 ...
By the way anyone can give me some advices on a gingerbread rom?a kickass one? I saw a couple of releases in this days...they should be good considering that the developers had plenty of time to improve stability and performances...
Thanks
Speed depends on the kernel/rom your using and the way your using it. My suggestion is GamerzRom and use the greenify app. Try it and you ll see. Ive never had a faster rom!

whatever you decide to do dont use task managers...they just mess with the android sistem and android knows better than you when and how to kill a process...
True i found out that task managers dont really work well
Greenify works the best and alot of people use it

Hey there,
I HAD the same problem. The 2/3 changes I made was
1.UNDERClock to 800mhz (less stress on phone and less lag
2. Use Nova launcher as default
3. I am running slim bean latest and its fantasiltic
My phone has never run better
Stay away from themes though.
FYI I am a massive app hoarder so you may have a hundred apps on your phone and blame it on that but probability 9/10 isn't.
Hope I helped
