[Q] Keyboard issues - LG Revolution

So I flashed a keyboard from here and it is sweet...just one problem, it is tiny! Probably something simple I overlooked but since it says it replaces a file, do I need to reflash gingervolt to get rid of it? Thanks!!

[Q] Tried to install BlazingDragon 1.9b...

And now my 2X won't boot. It freezes at the LG startup-screen. I've probably overlooked something, not checked for the right baseband or not updated something else - AND I've been dumb enough only to back up my setup - not my OS.
Is there any way to get out of this? I had FR8 before...
Thanks.
Backtoext3 or just flash your old rom over this
That did it, thanks.

Can't upgrade to Gingerbread

My GF bought the Revolution when it first came out. Shortly after, I rooted it and installed CWM so she could use the wireless tether app. Some time later, her phone wanted to update but I saw there wasn't a root yet, so I renamed the libdme_main.so file to block the update.
So now I want to update her phone to Gingerbread, but I've hit a brick wall at every turn.
I tried doing a system update through the About Phone, but I get a message every time that the update failed.
I tried just flashing a Gingerbread ROM through CWM. It would work, but then I couldn't activate the phone and it would reboot every couple of minutes.
I used RevoToolKit to put the stock recovery back on and then try again for the system update, but it still fails.
I've tried to use the LGAllInOnePkg to unroot her phone, but it doesn't work. It reboots and says done, but SU is still on there and working.
Any help? I'm out of ideas and very frustrated. Thanks!
So you tried to flash Gingervolt while still on revolt?
That's a big mistake as it'll screw up your phone
Do you have a cwm backup that you can flash back to?
Do you have LGNST installed to you pc/mac?
Try to flash the v7 tot with LGNST to upgrade to gingerbread that'll return your phone to complete stock

No, I was just on the stock froyo ROM. I already restored back to that ROM. Can't find a way to get to Gingerbread. I'll look into that LGNST thing tomorrow. I'm not familiar with it. Thanks.
Here's the link to what you'll need
Follow it step by step and reboot pc/mac when you install new drivers or when its prompt

Don't disconnect the phone until it's complete
It'll take about 15mins
You can also do it when you're in cwm just make sure the phone is set with debug on and internet connection
Good luck

bhp117: Thank you! You totally rock!
Not only was I able to update her phone to Gingerbread, but it didn't even wipe her apps or settings in the process. I told her she'd have to set her phone back up. She's going to be so happy. And now we can Voice Chat with each other. The future is now!
Thanks again. You really saved my bacon!

[Q] non-noob noob needing some help lol

ok, so im not a total noob...or at least i dont consider myself one lol im "hip" to the whole rooting/flashing/modding thing (OG, eris, dinc, evo, & now...lg revo) but this is my first LG/4g device ive encountered n ive now come to a point where i must ask for guidance lol
ok, so when i got my revo from my roommate, it already had the gb update, so i used: [One Click]Updated!!! LG Revo All in One Pkg for Root, CWM 5.0.2.7, and Unroot - to downgrade n root, then "flashed" the de-crapified (i think thats the name) rom. shortly realized i hate froyo, used ^above said method to unroot n return to stock i hopes to update back to gb, then work from there. upon attempting to do the gb update via verizon, i get the "update failed or incomplete" message. oh, n lastnight, i flashed RevoltRom1.5...
now, my question is; what am i/have i done/doing wrong?
...and/or what do i need to do to be able to have gb & root?
...or if nothing else, how can i return to bare stock? with or w/o gb...idc, cuz by this point, im prob selling it lol
(if it helps...) my phones specs:
-android: 2.2.2
-kern: 2.6.32.9-pref [email protected] #1
-build: RevoltRom1.5
-SW: vs910zv6
I would say your best bet is to do this:

thanks....but the dl links (fileserve) give me this, "This file was either in breach of a copyright holder or deleted by the uploader" :-(
If you need the Gingerbread .tot file I uploaded it to my dropbox. Here's the link

Just to elaborate a little what happens is when flashing a froyo ROM over gingerbread the radio causes issues including not being able to connect to mobile network I'm not sure about wifi I never tried also you will get bootloops kicking you into cwm recovery and it's the same for the opposite gingerbread to froyo.. the easiest way to get out of that bootloop is to flash a backup of the Android version you were on before you tried to put that ROM on your phone... if you were on gingerbread flash a gingerbread backup if you were on froyo flash a froyo backup but this phone does not like to jump Android software versions via a custom ROM. Of course if you find yourself without a backup the .tot files will fix your phone and the going from inner Android version to another via flashing a custom ROM has been tested throughly and has a 0% success rate. It will flash and should boot but that's about it.

[Q] gingervolt 2.0 problems with sim

im running version 2.3.6 or v8 i did the root and upgrade from v7 reinstalled cwm and everything went great now im trying to install gingervolt 2.0 this is my first custom rom flash and i hope im missing something small but everything installs it asks for my language then it gives me a error for the sim card not installed i did wipe all data before installing. any help would be greatly appreciated so i don't have to miss out on all the fun. i know the sim is good if i reflash back to the stock rooted rom it works fine.
On V8 you need to flash broken out 1.1, not gingervolt. Gingervolt was for v7.
thanks i wasnt fast enough to get rid of this i just had to take a break from my reading and come back to it and i realized my stupid mistake thanks again

[Q] SIM Card issue...

So, I just sold my working Revo to someone. It had stock V8 w/root & CWM installed. I decided (probably the wrong idea) to bring it back to V7 (via CWM and MT's V7 zip) and then removed the root. Now, it won't activate with a new SIM...doesn't recognize it.
With that said, I'm guessing the problem has to do with the V7 version it's on now. So, my thought was to bypass activation and load the V8 tot file.
Does that seem like the best course of action to get around the SIM missing issue?
Thanks,
Jamie
Sounds like a good idea. SIM issues usually arise when the radio software don't match with the actual android software. both radio and system have to be the same version, ie v7 or v8 or v9.
Just flash the v8 tot with the lg software from your pc and you should be good.

Thanks, wouldn't MT's V7 zip file replace the radios though? Also, I'm guessing the vol up-vol down-back-search method works to bypass activation on the Revo?
Thanks,
Jamie
The radio software is replaced during boot, iirc.
I think there was a thread on the general section about skipping activation. I'll have to look.
My REVO is Broken, Thunderbolted, Supercharged, and Smurf'd
You could just re-install the zv7.tot then update over the air to zv9. Also, Hopefully you are smart enough and are using a correct sim card for the phone.
Got it all squared away. Just installed the V8 tot and everything worked just fine. Thanks for the responses...
