Downloaded the latest rome and saved it in my INTERNAL STORAGE by mistake.
It was only after I wiped everything (cache, dalvik, format system, and all that necessary to flash a rom)... Now my phone is virtually bricked...
So, I was thinking about porting my sd card from my bionic to my other phone, and save the roms there. Then I can port the sd card back to my bionic and flash it... but I cannot get into the recovery...!
Any help...?
Thank you.
im thinking you are going to have to flash the stock image and start over buddy. unfortunately at this point in time there is no way to boot custom recovery without being booted.
FXZ with rsdlite and make a mental note, SDEXT, i have to do it every time i flash, been there

can you at least boot into fastboot mode volume down the power at the same time? if so you will be fine. if not you are bricked. as long as you can boot into fastboot you are good.
If you used CWR it has "install zip from sdcard", after selecting that one, it offers "instal zip from internal sdcard" down about 3 entrys....at least that's the way mine is. I've installed almost all Theroy roms and now Liberty without any problems directly from internal.

I only get that option if I use rom manager and install the latest CWR. Else wise using just bootstrap app I don't get this option. I think the theory roms with the built in recovery had that option from a newer CWM that was in there.

Hello. I just got the VZW tab yesterday and followed all the forums to root with oneclick. Worked. Used rom manager to flash CWM 3 and it will boot into it, however, the option to flash a file isnt there. Only wipe cache, factory reset, and flash update.zip and reboot. I've looked everywhere for two days.
Any ideas? Thank you for your help

hello all,
relatively new to the forum.
last couple of days i've been looking for a guide to installing CM7 on my O2X.
I failed! I can't find even one guide with a-z instructions.
please, can anyone point me to a guide?
I did read quite a lot and got 2 conclusions:
1. It scares the **** out of me
2. It needs rooting which i've already done day-1 using SuperOneClick 1.8
plz help me,
Eitan
1. Download ROM manager from market
2. Open ROM manager, install ClockworkMod Recovery
3. In ROM manager, Download ROM -> CyanogenMod -> pick your ROM
4. When your download are finished, choose "Backup" and "Wipe Dalvik-cache", press install
5. Thats it

Be sure to be rooted first
Don't forget in this method
1. You will loose EVERYTHING on the phone including the internal partition where mediabis located...
2. You cannot download Tom using the above meantioned way unless you've have premium rom manager
If you don't have premium version just download the update.zip and do install from SD
Hope I helped I am also playing around with this latelly I got the phone 2 weeks ago

Also if i download and place on my sd can i use this method for the modaco vanilla rom?
Will this also update the bb as well?

Warranty question
I'm aware that rooting voids your warranty. However, does anyone know if unrooting will make your phone look normal, and thus, applicable for the warranty?
can always install original rom at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035041 using smartflash.
Note: all data in internal SD will be erased. Hence unroot phone.

Backup and wipe in Rom manager after you picked your downloaded rom.
So open rom manager, select "install ROM from sd card", find your downloaded zip file (on external sd), select backup and wipe from the popup menu, install.
Your phone are going to reboot into recovery and install your zip automaticly. When its finished, it going to reboot again but this time you should see Cm7 bootscreen

Can I ask two (potentially) stupid questions?
Say I want to use vorkkernel with the ext4 option:
1. Is ext4 considered stable enough for every day use?
2. How would I go about this? Format my internal storage to ext4, flash CM7 on, and then flash vorkkernel on with the appropriate flags?
Thanks.
Just flash the kernel, it will convert /system & /data to EXT4.
There is no going back to EXT3 afterwards though, you have to wipe everything to do that.
~HELP~ i followed the steps in beginning of post. CWM did its stuff ending with a CM7 installation. First boot of CM7 started and repeats endlessly.
How can I proceed?

[FIXED] ok, if this happens to any of you what I did to fix is:
1. shut the phone off by removing battery.
2. boot into recovery by pressing volume down and then while holding pressing power up.
3. in recovery: wipe dalvik cache, wipe cache & wipe data
4. in recovery: install from zip on sd card i chose the cm7 installation again.
(it can be found in clockworkrecovery foleder and inside in cyanogenmod folder
hope this helps.
Just one more thing... if, say, you install CM7 do I understand correctly that all apps bought before wiping everything will be lost and would have to buy tumor again??
Thanks for the help

Alright, I recently factory reset my rooted and CWM'd Revolution and I was getting immediate boots into CWM recovery. I followed the steps outlined http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161537, and I was able to successfully boot to the LG screen. Here in lies the problem, it is now infinitely bootlooping... it stays on the LG screen indefinitely. I have left it lit for hours at a time, no luck. I have googled for hours and found nothing. Also, factory resets in CWM don't give a completed script, but recovery just resets and I have no idea if anything was actually erased, but I do know it still doesn't work.
So, is there anyway to save my phone?
quick recap:
1. phone is rooted and has CWM installed.
2. it is bootlooping.
please help!!!
edit: with some good camera work, I was able to capture the error string at the end of the factory reset:
E:format_volume: make_ext4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
then a rapid reboot and back to step one. The phone will then boot back into CWM, and if I reboot, it will stick on the LG screen indefinitely.

yes, verbatim.
It is as if nothing happened, no log at the bottom, it is fresh.
The reset at the end of the factory reset is normal. Can you flash anything in cwm? You may need to flash a rom to get further.

Not to thread-jack but I'm in a similar situation. I was trying to get RevRom1.4 to work. I'm rooted. I've installed that premium version of clockwork, and then installed clock work recovery. I was able to boot into CWR and get to the sd card and see revrom1.4 but it would not install. I get the error message "cannot open folder/file" something to that effect.
But I was still able to restart and go back into stock LG phone. After hours of frustration I decided to do a factory reset from the lg settings menu. My phone restarted, the LG logo comes up and then it goes to clock work recovery. I can't get out of it, and restarting it simply brings back up CWR.
I found the fix from thecubed about clockwork exit fix. But I have yet to try it (at school). Is this the way to go? Why won't it let me install roms from clockwork recovery?
Being a noob, I have no backups. Please help me!

Run the xip you saw that cubed posted that should fix you. Idk I never ran into that situation myself so I can't promise anything.
And side kick: Just do a full restore even if its from like your first backup. The restore will give you your boot image and everything back hopefully allowing the phone to finish the boot process. After it boots go back to CWR and do a data wipe then flash 1.4. Reboot and set the phone up. Should work fine. Hope this helps.

That CWM is not correct for our phone you need to use thecubed's CWM, it can be installed from the Revo_toolkit.
The exitrecovery.zip file should get you out of recovery. Then download the Revo_toolkit and install the correct version of CWM. After that you should be able to successfully install zip files and perform backup/recovery.

+1 to K0G for knowing that.
I did use Rev_Toolkit to install clockwork recovery. It is version v4.0.0.2.
The error I get when trying to install RevoltRom1.4 is "E:Can't open /sdcard/download/RevoltRom1.4zip (bad) Installation aborted."
I have no way to transfer that file to my sd card (well I do but its at my house) when I connect the phone to the computer, the sd card storage does not come up.

Basically installed on your phone as an app, and you re-bootstrap/recovery after you flash your custom rom so you can create new backups/restore/flash update .zip files ect. After the rom is flashed as well... if you think you wont have any issues ever after, by all means, brave the world without your cwm recovery on there... but that kinda seems like you'd be sinking your d*** in looseness w/o a rubber... and no body likes that itch in the AM...

But why does no one wipe for any of these roms?
And what is safe strap exactly?

IF you can access the app, yes you could just hit reboot recovery. If youre bootlooping or something you can go into recovery and select bp tools and that reboots into the same recovery as selecing reboot recovery in cwm. and the safestrap is different from the tweaked bootstrap. the safestrap boots from /preinstall or something. Also, you should wipe especially after switching to/from CM7

This. ^^^
Basically you want it if you can't actually boot your phone.
if you don't redo your recovery and just rely on clicking those buttons when you need them from the app... you'll be stuck if you bootloop and have to flash the sbf in order to get your phone back. I much rather restore from recovery and have 99% of my phone data back with no issues.
The safestrap and 2nd Int. stuff is wicked cool, I just wish i knew more about that... I couldn't really help describe that part lol.

To flash a ROM in CWM:
1. Download ROM and move to your SD card
2. Reboot into by either downloading an app or by powering down the phone and then pressing Power and Volume down until you are prompted to wipe phone data. Press power button twice and you will boot into CWM.
3. In CWM make a backup (inside backup and restore menu)
4. After the back up wipe user data, cache, and dalvik (dalvik located in advanced menu)
5. Go to flash a zip --> choose zip --> choose the zip --> Select yes
6. After it flashes go back and wip data, cache, and dalvik again
7. Reboot

Full instructions, from receiving the phone for the first time to Gingervolt:
1. BEFORE ROOTING, install any OTA updates. (Settings> About phone> Software Update)
2. Root. I used the latest SuperOneClick, with psneuter. (Zergrush doesn't seem to work after updating) Ignore the warning that says psneuter doesn't usually work on devices on 2.3.3+.
3. Use RevoToolkit to install CWM. DO NOT use ROM Manager, as it will leave you unable to leave recovery.
4. Get everything ready for flashing:
4a. Get Gingervolt and put it in your SD card.
4b. Make sure that the device has 4G enabled. (Settings> Wireless & Networks> Mobile networks> System select> Network mode: LTE/CDMA)
5. Reboot into recovery. RevoToolkit has a button for it. You can also hold Power and Volume Down buttons while the device starts up.
6. In CWM recovery, make a backup. (backup and restore> Backup)
7. Wipe user data. (Wipe data/Factory reset)
8. Install Gingervolt. (Install zip from sdcard)
9. Reboot
10. Complete initial setup.
11. ???
12. PROFIT
Enjoy!
