Anyway, back to the thread!
if you need to root your phone.
Dont know what rooting is?
A: Well, it gives you superuser access, like running as a special administrator. having superuser rights means you can also modify your system, installing modification's and much much more.If you would like to root your phone then click here
done that? if you did splendid
right so now you'v rooted your phone you are in top controll now.
if you have cypress multitouch for your x8 then this should activate your special chip: here
if you have synaptics fake pinch to zoom then click this little link: here
great stuff, isn't it!
now to recoveries...
firstly xrecovery. this is sort of the main recovery for our x8. you can install doixanh's roms through it well at least v013 or lower now that he switched and now needs cwm recovery to install now.
you can also install rachts roms as well
Q: How do i install rachts roms because it wont work through updating custom zip ot choosing a custom zip!
A: what you do, is you unrar the file. you can use winrar, or what i have:RAR File Open Knife - Free Opener. which is an open source project that works a treat. my dad uses it too. he told me to get it since its easier to use...
anyway once you unrared the file, put the file into xrecovery>backup and save it to there.
After that, boot into xrecovery on your x8 and go to: Backup/Restore>restore then chose that rom you saved in there.
Q:why are there no more updates for rachts roms?
A: The thread got closed, so there will be no new updates, you will have to make fixes yourself.
Next up cwm recovery: This is hard to get for our phone. it comes preinstalled in gingerdx's roms
if, however you dont use a gingerdx rom, then you can manualy install it by clicking here
cwm is more advanced than xrecovery.
Q: is there anything special i need app i need to get to install xrecovery?
A: Yes! Its called busybox. its from the android market. once you have installed that, open the app and it will come up with which version to install, click the OLDEST version because new versions are not compatible with it. to install and learn a little more click here
the only reason its for x10 mini is because other versions such as v02 and v03 do not work with the x8. and because the x8 and x10 mini are very close relatives!
Did you get any of them?
now to roms:
heres the link to all rachts roms! remember, i said how to install them earlier... here
heres froyobread by doixanh: here
heres gingerdx also by doixanh: this
Install doixanh's roms the normal way>install update.zip
or> custom.zip!
gingercruzt rom: here
gingerxperia rom: here
install these the normal way too.
those are just main and recognized roms. the other roms you will have to search for yourself.
Now for the Questions and Answers!
Q: gingerdx seems to have a battery drain, how do i fix it?
A: battery drain seems only with a few people, boot into xrecovery, do a battery wipe.
Q:What is the best overclock frequency for the x8?
A: 710Mhz, you can go higher if your lucky but most of the time anymore and it becomes unstable.
so 710Mzh is the most stablest...
Q: can i get flash player for my phone?
A: Yes you can! all those people who disagree, they obviously dont research on this stuff! heres the link to adobe flash player 10.2 for armv6: here
Q:can i play gameloft games for my x8 such as modern combat, n.o.v.a?
A: yes you can. i have modern combat sandstorm and N.O.V.A for my phone. just google eg. n.o.v.a hvga
or n.o.v.a x8...
Q:help! iv bricked my x8, what do i do???
A: if you can get onto the se logo then boot into xrecovery and restore a working backup.
if that didnt work, restore it through seus (sony ecricsson update service)
Q:should i update the su binary?
A: no, for lots of people it leaves them with a broken su without working binary! never do that.
Q: there seems to be a camera bug in my rom!
A:lots of roms have trouble with camera.apk! also devs found it hard to make a new one so they started porting stock eclair's camera.apk and modifying it to make it work and look like a froyo or gingerbread camera
Q: which is rom is most dtable for our x8 out of froyo, gingerbread, honeycomb and ics?
A: Froyo because its a next platform up which makes it more stable and run faster, although there are some pretty good gingerbread roms out there, i myself use gingerdx. honeycomb is really no point sice it was made for devices with bigger screens and ics is out there it will just run like a snail racing an athlete...
Q:my market isnt working, it wont install the app/apps i want, iv tried everything but still it wont work!
A:click this
it should work, its the old market from android 2.1 i think. i must give a thanks to dimitrisioa for providing an answer to a question with this situation. he provided the link, thanks man
Q: what is freexperia and fxps cm7 project?
A: its a cm7 rom. The only reason I don't have it is because they rerote the entire kernal and ect. There is a link to their rom in the 3rd post
Q: my wifi keeps on switching on and off! is there any solution?
A: yes, try doing a full wipe in xrecovery/cwm. if that doesn't work then try wiping davlik cache/cache.
if that doesn't work then reinstall the rom. do both wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache.
if that doesn't work then find a wifi fix or get a new rom.
Q: got a question?
A: post it here!!
just remember, we dont accept trolling or flame wars here.

Hello Community,
I've installed a time ago GingerDX v22
on my Xperia X8. Now theres a new Version out (v24).
I wanted to ask if I should update/upgrade the
version on my phone just with the option Install update.zip
or should I do it like the first installation with full wipe and so on...
And if I should the update.zip will it kill my data and my apps installed on?
Thanks for quick answers that will help.
Greets xdix
PS.: Sorry for my bad english if it is bad... xD
------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've just tried it.
At my phone it worked without full wipe.
But but I think not everywhere it will work so fine. But if
you don't want to lose all your data (e.g. apps)
just try it. But without warranty that it will work so...

You don't need to make full wipe if you are just updating the version of the ROM. If you are changing the ROM, then a full wipe is needed.
Can you please tell me how it's working, cuz im on GingerDX v022 and i wanna try v024
Hi,
Thanks a lot for the great rom. I really appreciate it.
After flahing my second version (August 1)including full wipe I somehow managed to destroy cwm. I can still boot the OS as well as download mode but instead of CWM there is just a black screen. I also tried to flash a New CWM with rommanager and twrp with goomanager. It didn'change anything.
What can I do to get a working recovery if possible without full wipe again (too much work)? This way I'm unable to flash anything.

No need to open a thread for a already known problem that is discussed in the 10.2 thread in General.
If you install a very early experimental build you could at least read in the related thread. Or consider installing a Stock Rom.
And as other members you have to install a new Rom with PC Odin to eliminate the problem. I made this already two times - and now use an older 10.2-kernel as workaround.
But please use the thread in General for further postings related to CM10.2, ok?
I'm sorry I was coming from CM 10, CM 10.1 and for a year or so I was no longer forced to care about such problems for quite a while. So I couldn't find the thread you linked. Xplowild closed his thread and I was a bit lost with so many threads.
Thanks for your help!

Hello to all.
This is my first post on this wonderfull community.
So far i´ve just been reading a lot of material, since i´ve recently just adquired my first android phone, a Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, with synaptics chip.
I already read enought to be able to root my device, unlock my bootloader, and tried some custom roms and custom kernel.
I have x8tools final and flashtool all setled up.
I tried nAa custom kernel and his android 4.1.2 rom (MiniCM10), but i find it to be much heavier than the stock rom, so i went back.
Now i´ve been reading about FroyoPro, which is a continuation of FroyoBread by dxoinha, and some users said their phones got even faster than they were at stock rom, so i really wanted to try it out. Plus it would be nice to have some Gingerbread features, android 2.1 is so feature scarce.
But i cound´t install it, kept getting this message:
(bad)
installation aborted
I checked md5 for the downloaded file, it´s integrity was ok, but still the file wouldn´t install.
So while i was searching for an anwser to my problem, i discovery GingerDX by TeamFun, which is a continuation of GingerDX by dxoinha, using android 2.3.7, suposedly very fast as well.
So i got insterested in this ROM, downloaded it and it installed wihtout any problems, but now i have eternal bootloop.
i´m currently using stock kernel, and i made a full wipe / system / data before i installed GingerDX.
What could be the issue here?
To be honest any possible solution to either my problem with FroyoPro setup or the GingerDX issue would be great.
All i want is a more featured android with the same speed than the stock rom.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
