xD Oh, you guys. Hashcode's goal is to get us ICS before Moto, so I have a feeling we'll see CM9 before the year ends.
dpwhitty11 and Androidsims c'mon mates give us something work with here lol
When do you think we can get our hands on cm9? Is hashcode the one working on it?

moto also released the D3's source to sourceforge today. wouldn't that include the audio bits?
I am of course looking at the source for ICS as we speak..
Possibly even testing how the source compiles.
But, I don't want to send the wrong message. I don't think ICS will be usable in any real way for the D3 till I either get source built up for the omap audio stuff (or a new kernel)
I'm just toying around with it, and getting use to the new layers.
@sarreq: I don't see any new source on Sourceforge for the moment:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/droid3.motorola/files/droid3/
This has sex written allllll over it

I've been following Hascode's CM7 since I got my D3. He's been great and the support and discussion on it is great. Haven't read too much on the release of CM9 but seems like ICS is the main feature it needs before its release. I'm excited to try more ROMS on the D3, great phone!
This topic is way too small aosp android 4.0 roms are popping up everywhere except here
im sure you could repo it and give it a shot! lol

Yes, alpha, buggy, useless roms.
Look, it will take us a while to get it running but we will have it. Just relax.
I'd like to repeat: I'm not ignoring ICS
I'm actively working on it in my spare time between: D3 CM7 updates, Safestrap updates, and helping with the CM7 for Bionic.
Add to that: I'm also watching CM9 develop and doing testing there as well (I have 3 repo's going at the moment).
AndroidSims has is correct tho: It will be a toy to play with for the moment, even if I get it booting to the OS. No audio, no phone.
IMHO, CM9 w/ our current kernel will get us a lot further due to the compatibility issues. But, obviously CM9 will take a while.

It looked like devs were jumping on the Bionic at first, but now it seems there is nobody working on new rom development.
I have tried unleashed and it is nice, but was really looking forward to CM7.
Goto IRC, and the channels for Bionic are DEAD.
Anyone have any news of any new rom dev going on at all for the Bionic?

And Team Liberty has been working hard on our ROM... Although its still a week or two out... I do release test build on IRC though
Its not always dead in there. But I have to agree its not hopping like the Charge channel.
I think the locked bootloader and lte radios have a big part in things being slow. I'm willing to bet it will pick up soon enough
Edit.. and note my above statement is for freenode #bionic. I've yet to be to AndIrc.... headed there now

Thanks kejar, I was downloading your latest 39 build and you must have cancelled the page when my download was about finished, because it said complete on my end. I formatted everything on my Bionic and tried to install the 39 zip for it to only tell me it was a bad zip.
No biggie, I made a nandroid
I'd say the biggest problem is this: devs don't get paid for this and the bionic is $600 off contract. Alot of them have families and jobs/careers outside this - actually I would say most do.
My best advice? If you like a dev and want to see him give the bionic love, reach out to him. Start a donate thread.
For the time being, Unl3ash3d is doing me good. Looking forward to Liberty and CM7.

^^^That right there hits it on the spot... This is a free service and most people don't contribute to the devs so it takes more time for things to come around... But sometimes this is the best way because it produces the best results
I agree, I have donated to most of the devs. I had thought everyone donated to one of the cm7 devs.
I don't ask for anything for free, that's not my point.......
My point is, dev has stalled on Bionic.

The Nexus will be out before the month's end, and the source code will drop in the following 2-4 weeks. If someone built it from SDK, they'd have to start it all over again after the source drops.
ya but that means source wont drop till xmas and then by the time someone has a working build moto will be releasing there official build so it doesnt really do anything for us

It might be a fun exercise, and fun to play around with, but sdk ports are buggy and wont have the framework that really makes up ICS. It would basically GB + some ICS features/apps, since all we have access to is some apps and what they ask for

I hope no one is wasting time working on a port from a Software Development Kit (SDK) emulator "ROM" that is incomplete and lacking. SDK's are for app developers to test, not for ROMs to be be made.
Once the source hits....you'll have a better chance of getting ICS, AND a much better and complete ROM.
I really hope no one is working on an SDK port "ROM" for the D3.

The current devs we have are still working on the roms they first put out. We will not get an SDK port. We'll start to see ICS when the source is released.

Just to be clear, I'm not working on an ICS port from the SDK. Sorry :/
While I applaud jellydroid13's enthusiasm, there is still alot of work to be done getting the D3 to be more AOSP friendly. This includes working on getting the audio drivers working correctly, BT updated, overlays which don't have PBUNDERUN events every 30 seconds, camera routines to iron out, etc.
Fixing these issues in Gingerbread where our kernel matches up with the source, gives us a better chance at then migrating working source to a true ICS port later.
There is also a fairly sizable kernel hurdle to jump as well.
Just my 2-cents.

Google hasn't even released the Nexus yet, so of course Verizon won't have yet. They usually release the source right around the same time the corresponding Nexus device hits, so if this is any indication, the GN is right around the corner

Agreed! I'm sure CM7 would have had been fully functional by now if Hash or another Dev had decided to finish it. Here's another scary thought, I read that Google is supposed to be releasing Jelly Bean (Android 5.0) in the second quarter of this year. If this is true, there would be a new OS before even a hand full of devices are even running ICS.
Yep, it would be finished, and we all would be begging for him to start to work on a ICS build.
CM7 is nice, but CM9 is nicer
Also, I'm starting to think Hash is Legion, for he is many (jk)

If that were to really happen I have a feeling there would be a lot of unhappy Galaxy Nexus owners...
^^I agree. There was so much hype surrounding the 4.0 OS that it seems both doubtful and (if true) disappointing that Google would be too shortsighted/trigger-happy, to actually let the OS mature a bit first, before pumping out another release. I've owned Android devices for better or worse, since the OG Droid, and I have to say that the evolution of the platform has been staggering...but I'm at a loss as to how the OS could really get SIGNIFICANTLY better than this. It's just my opinion, but I think 4.x is close to perfect...in the past, I could see clearly, how Eclair, Froyo, or GB could be improved, but ICS really has it all. I just think it would be terribly irresponsible of both Google and manufacturers, to support the release of a new OS this soon...

From what I read, the biggest new features are supposed to be Android's own version of NFC and compatibility with netbooks, laptops, desktops..... I agree it is too early for another release, but perhaps the extra features that are supposed to be included are too significant to just be an update to say 4.05.
I have been looking and am unable to find any new ROM's past March 10th. Has development stopped for the bionic? No disrespect meant to the developers, but I was just wondering. Are we waiting for an ICS system dump for the kernel or an I just not looking well enough. Again, thanks for all you do. I guess I am just used to Kaos when I was on the Eris. Sometimes we had 3-5 updates in a day. Just wondering. At this time I am using gummy 1.0.2 and loving it. Just wanting to be able to flash more. Force of habit.
