I like the the idea of having ICS on my nook color but I like Honeycomb UI and the TAB feel over ICS (ICS is build for cellphones and tablets). Idk but I rather have Honeycomb over ICS on my Nook Color.
I'll love to see a lot of new roms in the next coming months for the nook color, we have 2 new source codes to play with.

Lol there is 0 point in using Honeycomb especially now that ICS is out. Now it is just a waiting game.

ICS for tablets acts just like Honeycomb, just with ICS looks. There is no reason to want Honeycomb.

There is no reason to develop Honeycomb for anything that didn't come with it from the factory. There are very few apps written for it because they have to be specifically written for it. With the limited devices out there that came with it, app developers pretty much ignored it. ICS is supposed to change that by letting developers create one app and letting ICS handle how it plays on tablets and phones.
You can run most apps on Honeycomb. I've used a few devices. I don't like HC because fullscreen includes the button bar. I hope that has been changed.
ICS will surely benefit from HC breaking in app developers to the various changes.

Yes, but you can't run Honeycomb apps on Froyo or Gingerbread. That is why there are not many in the market.

No, but you can hide it. AFAIK it's separate from "full screen" as it requires separate handling (a way to bring the buttons back).
Here's ICS at 1024x600 @ 160dpi, scaled down to 600x352.. ICS looks very different at various res/DPI's though.

I just flashed the 1.6 AOSP build and I love it; but i'd like to spice it up a little bit. My biggest issue is the lockscreen. I HATE it.
what options do I have in the themes/lockscreens department?
EDIT:
I've installed metamorph and andexplorer but i've done nothing more with it. I've watched the videos in the metamorph thread, but i'm still a touch confused. is it really CDMA/GSM/Rom agnostic? the videos and info lead me to believe that whatever phone/rom you're running doesn't matter and that you can create themes from pretty much anything...but then i see threads that say you need the cyan 2.x.x.x or some other rom that isn't available to the CDMA guys.
Can anyone shed some more light on this? can i steal pieces from the Dream roms and skin my CDMA AOSP 1.6 build with them?
im in the same boat as you. sprint htc hero, running AOSP 1.6 + Googlebits
so far ive found that metamorph is your friend for the theme department. ive used it to change a lot of things so far. i have all eclair icons, the eclair dialer, nexus launcher, and nexus power control widget... just to name a few. there are a lot of other options out there for metamorph as well if the stock look isnt what you fancy.
as far as lockscreens.... im still on the hunt. i absolutely HATE this stock lockscreen
heres some screenshots of what ive done so far to the AOSP 1.6 rom by quietcblongs

Thanks for the info!
for lock screens, I played with Lock Bot (it was an old version that i found in a seedy part of the internet) but it didn't work. I've heard that Lock 2.0 works, but I don't plan on paying $$ for a lockscreen.
here is where most of the mods i have used came from
this is also a large selection of which a lot of the morphs work.
pretty much, rom aside, if the morph is for 1.6 it will probably work. they just work based on where the applications are and what their named which should be the same across the board for 1.6
any more questions feel free to ask.

Thanks man! I managed to get it skinned quite nicely. Sadly, due to unreliable SMS, I have to flash back to a 1.5 ROM

how'd you get that clock widget to work? you don't have all the sense widgets on that do you...? :OO
So is it possible?? If so, where can I get the .apk?? I love the Froyo roms...the speed is amazing but, I miss friendstream and just the sense look in general. Would it slow the rom down any? Has anyone tried it?
same query here
You're probably going to have to wait until HTC updates the Legend to 2.2 and someone ports it over to the Hero. I know nfinite is interested in porting it over once a ROM is released/leaked
Yeah, it's not very simple to do and Sense itself is closed source so we will almost surely have to wait until another MDPI device gets FroYo Sense.
Please also note that there is a Q&A forum for the Hero, this forum section is for actual development for the Hero.
I know it aint sense but damn look at it. This is the latest version of froyo

Just because there is Sense running on 2.2 doesn't mean it's going to be running on Hero any time soon. Sprint has said they have no plans of releasing a 2.2 update, so to get 2.2 on a Hero you're gonna need either a Cyanogen or AOSP rom. Then you've got to pull a 2.2 compatible Sense build from a phone that has the same graphic resolution as the Hero (I believe this is why everyone keeps mentioning the Legend). And THEN you've got to make the two play nice together. I'm not saying it's not going to happen, and I'm not even saying it wont be soon, I'm just saying the fact that other more modern phones are getting 2.2 Sense has very little to do with it coming to the Hero.
What I never understood is why someone just does not load the images into photoshop. Splice them together and resize the canvas to the images get smaller but proportional to themselves. Then, when you done, repackage them and bam.

Because it's not just the images are the wrong size, the framework is compiled for a different processor.
I can Photoshop anything. I'm a designer. But Photoshop doesn't give you functionality meaning just because I change dimensions or image size or even the actual data size of each image on something like friendstream, without HTC framework it will not function. I understand sense is not open source but if that was such a problem we wouldn't have things like the buffed rom. Its gotta be do-able. I'd be willing to help with the images. Sadly until next quarter that's all I'm good for

Once you download the ics.apk you have to use a file manager (which I prefer Astro but thats just me) to browse to the file in the download folder. Then you can install it from there
Edit: this may sound dumb but you get it in the market. Just want to be a lilttle more detailed so no confusion
So when installing new themes ect you will use Astro or another DL manager?
This is not the actual ICS launcher. Just some developers guess at what it might be like.

I actually would also lean toward 4.0. If it were meant just for phones I would lean toward 2.4. But Google has already stated that ICS is going to replace both gingerbread and honeycomb as one single system for both phones and tablets. With that mentality one would think that this new OS would get a whole new version number. Much like honeycomb did for Tablets. Going off memory I think the 2.4 mentality started when it was thought that ics was meant to integrate honeycomb with gingerbread for phones. But that's not the case. This is a vastly improved system over gingerbread with bits and pieces of honeycomb brought along meant for all devices. This is also actually a big enough leap for a new version, not like the small changes from 2.1 to 2.2 to 2.3.

Hello & hi to every one.
I've been using Android 2.3.x Gingerbread from my day one (almost 4 moths back).
Did not experience Froyo 2.2, only once when i rooted my DHD. Since then, i've not seen it (only in pictures).
But i did never like the boring black status bar of Gingerbread. My request here is for status bar and notification icons of 2.2 for 2.3.
Clearly, i want to change my Gingerbread status bar and notification icons as it was in Froyo 2.2.

This image that i've taken from web tells all the story.
Thanks.
Hi m8!
I've been looking for the same thing, when I was using a CM7 rom...Finally,I found a theme named RetroDroid which themes almost everything in your phone and makes it like a Froyo.Remember,it's only for CM7 roms using theme chooser app.
You can find the theme here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1014773
hope that helped you.
Dont forget to press the thanks button!
It's a real nostalgic screenshot.
Cm6 was incredible in the final stages.
It would actually be good to have a thread on the history of android with visual pics at some stage.
Regards

Yes, it could be worth but since i abandoned my HTC HD2, i'm no longer using CM Roms. Instead i want this for RCMix3D Runny 4.0 (in my opinion, so far so good).

There are kitchen mods but it only changes colours for status bar. There is a huge difference between 2.2 and 2.3 status bars. Secondly kitchen has custom notification icons, not stock 2.2.
May be kitchen would work.
In the last days I really became a fan of everything I can find about cornerstone. There are (already) many things to find about this rom extension which makes it easy to show multiple apps at the same time.
I start this thread for the following reasons:
*) I'd love to see a Cornerstone ROM for our Galaxy Tab 8.9
*) I want ta make a statement to the devs. This piece of SW seems to be awesome and should be integrated to your custom rom project!
*) find others which are thinking the same
*) find new news about cornerstone and discuss.
I start with some Infos:
What is Cornerstone?
See:

Devices which already got cornerstone:
*) Motorola Xoom Wifi
*) HP Touchpad
Rooted:
*) stingray (???)
*) stingray_cdma (???)
*) Asus Transformer tf101
*) Asus Transformer Prime tf201
*) umts_everest (???)
*) wingray (???)
*) and I'm sure even more...
I read that testbuilds for our big brother (Galaxy Tab 10.1) was already seen on the net so I expect that there is no reason why we shouldn't get it for the 8.9.
Other rumors tell us that CyanogenMod 9 will get it. I really hope so but I think this will take some time until we see the first nightly builds.
Anyway, maybe I can motivate some AOSP rom cookers look at cornerstone?
Would love to see this as well. That extra real estate has so much potential.

i think all the ICS devs have been notified of this and have looked into this.
if or when this gets merged with standard CM9 im pretty sure to see kallt_kaffee cook up a version for us.
Btw, you may want to give Overskreen a try. Paid app but check the demo in the market. Quite neat having a second screen.

Nice finding but it seems to be for browser only. I'm planing to use the split screen feature to use google navigation and a music player.
Agreed. Cornerstone will be a lot better. Still trying to find effective use of overskreen browser but nice having the option.

Oh yes... this would be awesome. But I would still like the i957 to get an ice cream sandwich upgrade as well...
Just Acquired a galaxy t8.9 and am loving it so far. Really excited about the cornerstone app and can't wait to have a ROM COOKED up for 8.9 use.
Hopefully the devs are watching this and we won't have to wait too long
