[Q] Im new, why I cant update my samsung Galaxy s to 2.2

Hi all.
Could anyone tell me why I cant update my samsung Galaxy s to 2.2,
its on o2 but the phone was on orange if thats any help.
Iv downloaded kies and it says there are no updates for my phone so can you help me?
Ive updated my girlfriends phone and she has got the same phone me
She can update it again now.
Allso we cant send mms:mad

Im having this same problem with my girlfriends phone.
Everytime I try to update her phone it says that it cannot upgrade her phone.
I updated mine to 2.2.1 now. Her phone is still on 2.1-update.
Her buildnummer is I9000XXJF5.
Either she does not recieve my MMS.
Very strange.
P.s. Im from holland, and the phone arrived in Germany Language.

Your apn settings will be different on o2 if the phone is from orange which is why probably both internet and mms doesnt work.
Don't know why kies isn't playing ball, make sure u have the latest version.
I'd suggest changing to a stock firmware from samsung. E.g. The latest jpy firmware.
First thing is to check the 3 bitton combo works, if it doesn't then there is a really simple windows based fix for this on this forum that doesn't require any programming or command line stuff.
Next, visit samfirmware, sign up free, download odin and firmware. Follow instructions to a T. Install jpo firmware first as it's v2.2 then you can go for jpy as the v2.2.1 is really a vast speed increase.

Ive done all the setting with o2 and still dont work.
I did the three button combo and reset my phone and put all the setting back in still no good.
Ive done all this visit samfirmware, sign up free, download odin and firmware. Follow instructions to a T. Install jpo firmware first as it's v2.2 then you can go for jpy as the v2.2.1 is really a vast speed increase but it would not download.
My phone numbers Pda jf3 Phone jf3 and Csc je5 if this helps

If your phone is O2 UK you get update to )2 firmware .
If its an Orange product code phone you need to check Orange has updated the firmware .

you could always do what i did with my o2 uk phone that wouldn't upgrade to latest version...im guessing that you may still be on JM1 software? [thats what mine was].
all i did was download the Kies registory patcher and use it to tell kies that i was on XEU firmware. next time i connected to kies it told me there was an upgrade available to JPY [2.2.1].

[Q] Need some clarification on KIES is looking for

Lots of us are trying to get our phones back to Stock Firmware so KIES can update to 2.2.1 & at some point 2.3. In my case i9000T Latin America (TTT) model which seems to be very popular on the various US sites selling unlocked i9000 phones (New Egg & Expansys-us)
Many of us have used Euro 2.2 or 2.2.1 Firmware without issue using ODIN 1.3.
What happened in the process of applying the Euro firmware that keeps KIES from updating once you've rolled back to a stock firmware. In my case i9000TUBJH1 which is android 2.1 (ECLAIR.UBJI1) .
I've tried everything from changing the Product Code from KOR, TTT, PCW and any other one that might trigger KIES (1.5 or 2.0) in allowing the update.
I have 2 of these phones. One is untouched stock firmware. It was i9000TUBJG7 and after KIES update it's now (i9000TUBJP9 with a TTT Product Code). again, just trying to get my other phone back to stock and then update to 2.2.1 so both phones are the same.
Which file is KIES looking at to allow the update? CSC?
I'm not sure why the i9000T firmware is not readily available on samfirmware.

why bother with kies anyway i have a 19000t.. just use odin and flash the stock rom form samsungfimrwares.com or a custom one like docs etc..
i am currently on jpy with jl2 modem.
also once you have clockwork on you can also flash one of docs roms via that.
or is it that you are trying to get a stock rom via kies. that is not on samsungfirmwares.com ?
if that is the case i think the reason may be that these stock firmwares were never release via kies?

I bricked my initial handset using KIES as it crashed during the update. Won't be using it again to flash my phone.

Samfirmware & i9000T
No sign of any i9000T (TTT) Latin America firmware on Samfirmware.com. The latest update via KIES for this phone was about 10 days ago. Version i9000TUBJP9 which installs 2.2.1.
Again, just trying to get back to stock. I'll be passing this phone to another user at some point and they'll need KIES to keep it simple.
Any help in understanding what keeps KIES from updating after you've installed stock 2.1 firmware would be great.

Kies reads the codes from the phone .
Firmware 2.2 Product Code Vodaphone Hardware ID Vodaphone .
Looks for update for the product code if all matches downloads .
Product Code stock Hardware ID stock matches nothing on its Database = no update .
Route back i have used is flash Eclair spoof product code via Kies registry patcher . Upgrade and save rom at the same time to enable reflash to product codes firmware .

I'm helping out a friend, and we are having some troubles being able to update via Kies.
In Kies, the firmware is listed as: (blank field/none)
And we get the message "no update available"
1. USB debugging is disabled (tried enabling)
2. Tried editing Regedit

Why do you want to upgrade via kies??? Just use Odin to go to whatever firmware you want... what are you running now?

Because the owner don't feel safe using Odin and want's the function to be working.
Running stock 2.2.1 XXJPY now
We tried flashing different ROM's via Odin

Kies updates official firmware that came with the phone .
You have flashed stock firmware Kies cannot update that .
Only update path is now via Odin .
You can try spoof firmware to correct product details .

Other question is are you trying to upgrade too a firmware that does not exist
that is 2.2.1 is the very very very latest firmware .
Gingerbread 2.3 has not been released by Samsung yet .

The problem is that the firmware field is left blank...
it doesn't recognize the firmware I guess, but it should be stock 2.2.1 and then it would be able to recognize it, but it doesn't.
Are there any known problems regarding x64 windows?
Will try the spoof, but I think it is the same as altering Regedit
Howcome, Kies can't update that stock firmware we have flashed? the system files should be the same, as of modem, PDA and so on.

Kies spoof method is your only choice .
Stock firmware from samfirmware etc is not the firmware that came with your phone so IDs do not and will not match .
Below an example of legitimate O2 UK firmware ID upgradable by Kies .
Replace that with stock and codes change and fail to match anything on the server .
KIES does not recognize stock firmware .
Stock is not what comes with the phone .

[Q] unable to uprgade firmware with kies

hey guys,
im using roto's rom for 1 month now, but when im connecting with kies
i get the message that my version can't get updated.
i think the problem is my csc.
PDA: JMI
PHONE: JMA
CSC: JMG (KOR)
i don't know if KOR stands for korea, i guess.
but is there a way that i can get back to stock CSC?
im using the SGT: P1000 euro model.

Just flash a stock rom via Odin and you're good. Then connect to PC and update with Kies.

I've downloaded the latest euro firmware from samfirmware dot com and after the installation, my tab is at stock rom with the PHN csc code, this is the one that i needed for the dutch country and im able to receive update's trough kies.
Only kies is showing u have the latest firmware already, thats okey.
But im sure when 2.3 GingGerbread comes i'm able to get it with kies.

You need to be on stock rom for kies to work, just download the stock rom you want to download through kies and use odin

Hi all,
I don't think this is hijacking...seems similar problem.
I flashed to ICS before it was released, now want to update to official version via kies...so I flashed to this with odin (downloaded from samfirmware.com)
PDA: i9100BOKK1
PHONE: i9100BOKJ1
CSC: i9100TMUKK1
But when I connect to kies it still says the 'device software does not support updating via kies'. I've tried flashing lots of other gingerbread firmwares from samfirmwares.com (need gingerbread so kies detects it needs updating). Really stuck now. How do i find which original stock firmware to flash to get dues to update? Tried the list on xda but still cqn't get it to allow an update. Is there something else that can cause kies to give that error, or is it definitely that I've got the wrong stock firmware? If so, is there a sure fire way to get the right one? I've tried the xda branded firmware list, that's where I got the link for this firmware above. Please help!

Wrong IMEI --> no Update
Check your IMEI (*#06#). Do you have your original number or is it changed to 004999010440000?
When I didn't succeed with OTA/Kies-Updates I found that the "developer IMEI" was the reason.
