I regret that my first post here was asking for help rather than being a contribution but I'm stuck. I've been using my Hero since January, flashed a custom firmware day 2 (FreshROM) and it was fine back then, ever since though my connection, throughout the county, has been on a downhill slope...
Sprint customer service hasn't helped at all, got a single email reply and haven't been contacted since. I can't tell if it's an issue with Sprint or my phone though I'm starting to think it's the former, everyone I know with Sprint seems to be having problems lately...My particular problem is bad signal, I use to be pulling ~90dbm at all times, now I'm lucky to see a minimum of 98. Running speedtest (ookla) I can barely pull twice dialup speeds, though on occasion it runs ~120 kb/s (about normal out here, though pathetically below advertised speeds) and sometimes it just randomly drops into/sticks as 1x (even outside of the BestBuy I bought my phone from where I had full bars and definitely EvDo)
Currently running DarchDroid 2.7, PRL 60667 (I've tried all since 60663+), I don't know if it could be a PRI issue, I can't see PRI while using DarchDroid though I believe I'm running Flipz' custom PRI he put out after the leaked eris issues with 2.1 roms...
Suggestions? Further information I can provide?
Same problem here. Stuck in 1x, wireless also not connecting properly, voice signal minimal even sitting right next to my femtocell. Darch 2.7 only rom so far that keeps me on Sprint's network at all, others send me into roaming. I've tried Damagecontrol 2.0.9 (boot loops, kills SD), DamageR (roaming signal, frequent FC) Fresh 2.3.3 (roaming signal) and Aloysius 2.1.2 (roaming signal only)
Wireless not connecting with any of them. Any tips/fixes would be greatly appreciated

Forgot to mention, yes have also tried various basebands. Running the ancient stock seems to provide a minor boost.
I kept playing with this one, eventually broke the data connection altogether. Stuck in roaming unless using darchdroid. Took it to sprint store, they said once struck in roaming, no fix. They're replacing phone tomorrow

Thy the VZW PRL. It's here and in the EVO forum somewhere. I like it for my work and at the campground but here at home Im stuck with crappy signal because it wont work with the sprint airave. Im trying to talk my neighbor into buying a VZW one and putting it in my house. They don't have internet and use my WIFI so I think its a win win. For now I swap back to sprint on the weekends we are at home.
If you're using a custom rom, try rebooting into Recovery and wiping the Dalvik cache.
I had the same 'stuck in 1x' issue after trying to update my profile/PRL today, nothing I did seemed to make any difference, and when I did connect to EVDO my voice signal would drop out to, literally, 0.
Wiping the dalvik cache seems to have fixed it entirely - am now on the 60668 PRL (must've just come out today) and my signal is right where it should be, both EVDO and voice.

I've done entire wipes both factory resets as well as Davlik cache
I've tried both the verizon PRLs as well as the verizon baseband from flipz
I also managed to break my data connection at one point, eventually fixed it by driving out to where I had signal after doing the PRI reset thingy posted after the leaked Eris PRI issues. Tried the new *68 PRL as well when I finally had signal again, didn't seem to help at all, currently have no signal at my home at all anymore regardless of what I'm running, flashed back to an old FreshROM still on 1.5 so I can manually change PRLs, nothing seems to be working at all...
I'm likely to just run the new RUU to unroot and take the phone in demanding a fix, service seems to have just taken a hit out here period, weak connection at my gf's apartment, and she's now having issues even sending texts, seems like a network issue more than a phone issue at this point (she's using a Rumor Touch, not a Hero) also stuck on 1x (but amazingly not roaming) out here, but better than the no signal at my home :/
Help! I found this treadz by searching i bought the new iphone 4 and i have no signal when i hold the phonez.
I was hoping for a fix from apple and steve jobs said i was holding it wrong.
Thx any helpz would be awesomez
I'm using a Bluegrass Hero, and when I first got my phone, it picked up rev.A evdo just fine. Back on the old 1.5 rooting method, when I first rooted it, it lost rev.A and went to rev.0. Even on the official 2.1 update, it still had rev.0. I need to fix this. Please help!

I think I remember seeing a thread somewhere where this changed on its own depending on signal.... could be wrong.
No, it doesn't. Full signal or not, always rev.0.
And yes, I've done a power cycle, turned airplane on and off, reflashed the rom, etc.
not sure if your carrier does this, but on mine if I dial *228 I get an automated activation thing that will unlock the spl and re-program the radio. I usually do that when I have data or calling issues after changing roms and it usually works.
I got the official OTA yesterday and installed it. Ever since then, my phone can't hold a signal for more than a few minutes at a time. Not only does data go out, but so does voice! I get the little red circle on the signal bars. Only CDMA is enabled because 4g sucks the life from my phone. So I dont think it's a handoff issue between the 2. Wireless and bluetooth are also off.
The phone is completely stock, but with root. No debloat, mods, anything.
Same thing is happenning to my wife's Bionic and she is 100% stock, no root.
Anyone else having similar issues?
nothing like that here.
What did VZW tech support do?
No issues here either. I was one of the lucky ones and had very few issues before the update.

mine was doing that yesterday morning. i am rooted and had the latest leak version, still stock verizon build tho. i did battery pull and sim card pull. then i finally gave up and called verizon. while on hold, it started working again, and been good since.
VZW support said to power off and do a battery pull... even though I've done that several times.
I hardly had any issues with this phone before the update. Signal was usually fine. No BSOD, and a very rare random reboot... all issues that were supposedly fixed with the update.

I'll try the SIM card pull and see what happens. I'm also going to enable 4g and see if that helps.

I find it odd that tech support didn't recommend:
factory reset
address lookup to check towers/complaints etc of your location
check your provisioning
check your signal strength and prl version
etc
etc
I had few issues before the update, and my data is even better after it. I can hold 4G in places I would have it madly fluctuating before. I still leave it in CDMA only most of the time for battery, though.
You guys aren't having issues with 3g dropping with cdma forced after the update?
I try to force it to save battery but
It won't get a connection.. Turn on lte and it gets data right away..

Same as OP - reset to factory, permarooted, and installed OTA - data is MUCH worse than it was (and it was bad before).
Thankfully, I am still eligible for upgrade. This POS is going on Ebay and I am getting the Nexus tomorrow.
I have to agree. My data is horrible horrible. This was supposed to be my dream phone...... Data... cameras.....ota made camera bearable but data it grrrrrrr.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
Maybe I am in the minority but my data issues seemed to have been resolved with this update. The camera is working better as well.
All items that were supposed to be fixed with the update seem to be, but now I've got this problem.....
Anyone have any idea what is going on here?
I was rooted with the Bionic Bootstrap Recovery app installed and working. Today, I just installed the new Verizon update because I was having the black screen problem as well as the no data signal problem (all the time).
Since the update, I lost root (I figured I would) so I re-rooted. Now I cannot update my SU and Bionic Bootstrap Recovery doesn't work as well as WiFi tether. WTF Verizon?
Any help is welcome. Thanks
Adam

Anyone have a fix for this? On Verizon and after almost 4 weeks I have lost my cellular service and data. I noticed when I went to check up on my phone right now that it was finishing a boot-up screen and then never had any bars at the top. Dug deeper and found no service at all. Wiped dalvik and cache and seemed to be bars for under a second and then gone. I am on sensei kernel and am thinking about doing a factory reset and reverting to stock kernel. But I really don't want to lose the benefits it came with.

Well, this is odd. After a month of perfect service, I suddenly cannot get LTE, only 3G. Even nandroids of prior ROM's will not boot into LTE. Is VZW LTE down or should I do a total clean reformat? i do have factory images and everything is backed up. Just a pain.
Very strange. I was flashing various ROM's (CM 12 based - am testing for someone) and at one point pulled out SIM and replaced it. I checked to make sure it is seated right since then. Again, no longer get LTE.
Was on Sensei kernel as well. Let me try flashing stock kernel from ROM first. EDIT: NOPE! Flashing the stock kernel from the ROM did not do it. Looks like total reformat/flash is next!

I just got my Nexus 6 and I am also on Verizon and had the cell coverage drop too. I backed up my apps with titanium backup and did a factory reset and signal came back. I only had it for a day and went to Canada and on my way back to the US I noticed the cell bars were gone. I was just rooted and boot loader unlocked and otherwise stock. I read online that others had this issue when they got to places in the US that had little or no signal. I also noticed that under cellular network settings it loads up with Global under the preferred network type even though it has an option for "LTE (recommended)" and if you choose LTE, global is never an option again until you do a factory reset and it loads with it pre selected. With global selected it works perfectly with calls and LTE, so not sure what that means or if my selecting LTE made it drop the signal after going back from Canada.
Yep, total flash of factory image fixed it. Sigh. Early enough in the day for me to get everything set up again.
Same. About to do it too... I've done too many factory resets with this already. Kind of annoying.
I am in the same boat. Had no problems until I flashed bliss 1.5 then was stuck on 3g. Tried a clean flash of Slim and still stuck on 3g. I will try a stock rom but I am not very hopeful at this point. It's looking a like a reformat here as well :/
Ended up having to format everything and start from scratch again. I'm running a stock ROM now and in weary to try another cm ROM
Don't know if it'll help, but try LTE Discovery app in the Play Store. I use it from time to time to reset my data connection.
Having the same issue, running CM12 daily, have been for a week or so. Midday today it drops LTE, 3g data was working, then a few minutes later to no data. I didn't change anything, nothing new installed. I did reboot the phone at some point before this but that is all...
My only fix was to backup via trwp, restore stock rom, factory reset, reboot & let sim activate, then restore cm12 via twrp... it's a 20-30 min fix all said and done.... pita
Maybe its something Verizon is doing, because I didn't change anything and then next thing you know no data. I hope it's a simple fix for CM12 but I see this popping up more the last few days. Hopefully someone will figure it out. I like CM and prefer it over stock but I am not going to do this multiple times a day just to keep CM...

I just checked and global is still an option for me. I've bounced back and forth, looking to see if anything changes..
Same thing has happened to me last night, lost connection to VZW cell and data. Looking at the field test menus, it seems like the SIM/device understand GSM but NOT CDMA anymore. So I believe the issue has something to do with that. Tried everything, but will nuke and repave most likely....also lost Global as well. and LTE Discovery shows GSM stuff nothing for CDMA
Tried the SIM in another device and it works so its not the SIM.
OK I tried a world of things to recover like some of you may have....its something in Userdata because if I flash everything but userdata it wont work. I am going to try and recover from the backup I had before this happened to see if that works....otherwise rebuild from scratch
will post back
UPDATE: So restoring a backup seems to be ok once you get the SIM back.
Having the same issue over here as well... After a month or AI of having the 6, now I randomly drop service where I would normally have full LTE. I almost NEVER get LTE now and am at most on H with a couple bars then it drops out again. Have also.noticed WiFi connection is very shakey.
Any one find a fix?
I had an issue where i couldnt get my phone to connect any network. Took me long rime to realise, that entering my PIN-number too fast caused the issue xD it unlocked the sim, but didnt let me connect any network... Dunno if this helps anyone, but definetly the most cryptic issue I've ever had.

Troubleshooting my wife's N6 here. Your PIN issue doesn't make sense to me because the phone should be connected to the carrier when locked. Are you talking about WiFi? Because that should be connected too when locked unless settings have been changed from their default (ie, turn off wifi when locked/asleep or something)

I'm talking when you turn on your phone and it asks for pin number to unlock your sim. Some how it seems that if you enter your pin too fast, it bugs the phones radio somehow and you can't connect to your carrier but if you wait like 5sec before entering the pin, it connects to the carrier and the (!) Mark goes away. Try rebooting the phone and see if it helps? Even I think its a weird issue
Edit: OK, just pinpointed MY issue. I have to wait for the "no service" text to change into "emergency calls only" before entering my pin or I don't have any service just the exclamation mark :/

Thanks. I told her about it and she will give it a try, or just remove the pin altogether as a test. It is a weird issue. She is missing important calls from her elderly parents at night and it is rather frustrating. Turning wifi off also seems like a bad fix.
I recently got a new phone from AT&T. I haven't contacted them as I haven't felt it necessary yet. After recently switching from an iPhone 4, I love Android. I quickly rooted it with the Ping Pong method and installed apps such as Busy Box, Greenify, Nova Launcher, Clock Sync Adblock Plus, System Tuner, SD Maid, Titanium Backup, Uninstall, and etcetera. I listed almost all root applications due to it may being a problem with that. My phone worked fine for a while. I noticed it stopped working after some calls stopped coming through as well as texts. Randomly, I see that my texts don't go through, but after a quick restart it seems to work fine. I was wondering if there is any way of getting logs to help someone out there figure this out for me. If unrooting via SuperSU and then factory wiping my device would work please let me know. If there is any information I can provide you I will. The phone worked for the first week fine. Restarts seem to fix the issue until around ~6 hours of time using the device. It mainly sits next to me at my desk.
SMS doesn't go through or receive. Phone calls are not received (Have not tried outgoing). Cellular Data (4G/LTE) does not work.
--Edit:
I have frozen the OTA notifications from wsync. I also remove some bloatware thanks to System app remover (ROOT) by Jumobile. It gives you things that are not CRUCIAL to your system to remove. I removed a few things. Nothing relate to Samsung.
I'd make a backup backup of the phone using your favorite method (I seem to remember that titanium can do this), and try a factory reset to see if that fixes your problem. AoN

Well... Umm. dm-verify verifaction failed... So I'm guessing that I "bricked" my device. Guessing I have to plug it into my pc and do a flash somehow. Any info?
--Edit: Booted into my device with same settings. However I cannot do a factory restore as it always says dm-verify verification failed.
Beyond my knowledge. If the phone still functions, un freeze / restore all the system stuff you disabled, try again? But I'm just guessing. AoN
Use Odin to flash the factory OE2 firmware via PC.
If you're still having issues it may be a faulty SIM card.

Alright, I flashed everything. Re-rooted (I tested before root if the Cellular Data/Messages worked. Cellular data did not, but messages did (and haven't had issues after root). The cellular data still DOES NOT work. I live in a location where LTE is supported. Any info?

This may be s silly question but have you tried toggling the 2 switches under mobile networks/mobile data off then on? One of them is enhanced 4G LTE services. I read somewhere that this might help.

Call AT&T tech support and have them provision your data on the back end again. Just explain that everything works except your data. This can happen if there is a data block on your line or if someone used the my AT&T app to turn off data for lines on the account.
Are you able to make phone calls?
Do you see the 4G LTE logo at the top when wifi is turned off?
