Well on the phone specs it doesn´t show anything about this protocol, neither shows "n" networks. But some ppl modified their wifi conf to suppor 802n networks, maybe they can do it possible too, but idk.

i had hard time to search my ACCESS POINT at home. There is no sign of my router. Both my laptop and netbook can search just that the topaz cant find. why? help
Ok, sorry for asking... but you dont have a hidden SSID?
My device has much worse wifi than my laptop, but no problem connection when I'm right next to it. Hopefully it'll be better with future ROMs.
There's a energy saving setting under WiFi for better performance / better battery, have you tried to change that?
You do have 802.11g enabled and not just draft n?

You need to log on to your router and check the settings.

Did you try to turn off all access controls in the router?
Does the phone find *any* wireless network? Go somewhere where you could expect many AP and maybe use some wifi scanning software like WiFiFoFum.

thanks i solved. dont know Diamond 2 chip set cant scan such secure wireless access
quick question, (after a long debate with my brother) I say it does, he says it doesnt.... who is correct???
A Laptop that is wifi enabled WILL always be able to connect to a wifi a-p regardless of its encyption as long as the software using the wifi supports it WEP,WPA,WPA2 ect.. ??
Or a Laptop that is wifi enabled WILL NOT always be able to connect to a wifi a-p with certain encyption it depends on whether the hardware supports it or not..
In my eyes, wifi technology uses 802.11 IEEE (which we know can connect to WPA) theirfore it WILL support WPA it just depends on the software that is being used to connect to the a-p.
who is correct ??
thanks guys
Quick answer: it can in theory be done completely in the software (driver level), but hardware usually helps in practise

In most cases it is a combination of Firmware/Drivers/Software, some cards just do not have the driver or firmware level to allow the OS to connect with WPA.
I have several PCMCIA wireless cards that will not connect to WPA at all, but then again driver dev stopped for these cards like 8 years ago.
So as chainfire said, in theory yes, but in practice it just depends on how "new" and "supported" it is ...

as the title says, I have a problem with connecting to any wifi network, already spent two days searching different forums, I've tried various CUSTOM ROM (zeus, miui, stock 2.2.2), but without success, currently using ParanoidAndroid V2.52...
i see all wifi network, when it connects just stuck on connecting, then disconnect... router is 100% OK, connects with PS3 or other device OK...
obviously a problem with the MAC address, in advanced wifi is set to always and my MAC address is 74:A7:22:E5:09: DA... but in the etc / wifi / nvram.txt in line macaddr = 00:90:4c:c5:00:34 ??? not same as orginal...
any help is welcomed :good: and sorry on my bad English

Why dont you try to set your MAC adress then? But if it doesnt work with any ROM, what about your wifi device, might it be broken? Did you already try to connect to other wifi networks? Did it work there? What channel does your router use? Maybe change it to another (between 1-10 I would say) one and try again?
Happy answering and testing

thanks for the anwser
I think that wifi device is not broken, bcuz i connect 4-5 time in 2 days... but page from browser not open... maybe 100-200kb download and stuck... then disconnect...
how to rewrite the address in the etc / wifi / nvram.txt ... I tried with root manager and busybox tutorial from this forum but without success
EDIT: i made some progress... in router settings i change to United States (even I am in Europe - Bosnia) and channel 9... connect each time but not open any page in browser ???
The address in nvram.txt is a dummy MAC address and should interfere with the actually MAC address once it's fully powered on.

The mac address in nvram.txt is dummy address. It's only used if it fails to get proper MAC address or haven't got it yet.
Perhaps it's hardware issue.

Change the ROM. Try a newer version or a stable one.
Hi, I am trying to find a ROM which has in-built capability for VPN over Wifi hotspot, please could someone help me?
My phone is the S3 i9305 model.
Thanks for your time!
You care only for Internet sharing, or something more ???

You want to share your VPN with a Wifi HotSpot ?
BTW, this is a QUESTION, it belongs in the QUESTIONS forum.
Hi apologies for posting in the wrong forum.
Yes I would like to have all my Wifi clients connected to the VPN connection. Is there a ROM for that built in?
What happens if you set up your VPN, connect to it, and then enable the Wifi Hotspot ?
Hi, the Wi-Fi hotspot connects to the wireless client but contains the original internet connection not the VPN'ed connection from the Phone.
