I'm having trouble finding a vent mount car holder for the Incredible S. I see these generic ones that claim to fit any phone, are these half decent for our phone?
I have been using one of those for ages, first for my iphone, then my blade and now my Incredible, they r pretty good imho.
Best thing you can do is go to a car accesorry shop and find one that fits your phone and does not block the usb connection
I got one from eBay

Yea I got mine from ebay also, cost me $3.60au not a universal one. The phone fits in perfectly, fully adjustable, can tilt or twist (landscape/portrait) and it has a threaded lock at the back so it stays in position.
Edit: does not block USB,volume or power button.

I got this Kensington car mount (includes windshield and vent mount) and it is a perfect fit for the HD7 and looks good, too.
http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-Wi...e-iPhone/dp/B0031U1AT6/ref=dp_cp_ob_e_image_1
It's different from other holders in that it can be rotated and twisted on a ball-mount in all directions, and it firmly grabs the HD7 from its sides. And it's only 12 bucks on Amazon with free Prime shipping.
That's great ! Thanks for the info. It does look nice. I bought an HD7. I will definitely pick this up...
Will that hold any other phones? Eg desire, galaxy s?

Seems to fit the HTC Evo as well:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyJR_t_VIlI
Regarding the fit for the HD7, the clamp has to be positioned between the camera and the volume buttons and fits perfectly inbetween. One has to be careful not to clamp the volume button, or else the volume will go down to 0
This is the cleanest car mount I've seen for any mobile phone, let alone my HD7. Works really well mounted on the vent on my G35 coupe.

Anyone tried any decent windscreen mounts yet suitable for the S? Found this which seems OK, any others people are liking?

I'm using a pdair case with the stud on the rear fitting into a pdair universal mount that suction fits onto the windshield. Check the pdair website for details.

Hello,
have the new Brodit Active Holder, works well as in horizontal or vertical Mode.
Bought it here: http://www.haid-services.de/kfz-hal...odit-halterung512246-htc-incredible-s-kfz.htm
Brodit it´s best i ever had!
Nice thanks for pointing that out. Looks like I then need to buy a separate windscreen mount as couldn't see any on the Brodit site, is that correct?
Many thanks
Ant
verizon seems to have released a decent looking one too, would provide link, but at work right now. edit for link later.

Now THAT'S more like the setup I would want!
Here is a ebay seller with a good amount of accessories. I just bought one of is windshield mount.
http://www.rpasonline.com/search1.cfm?Search_Term=Incredible+S
Windscreen mounts for Incredible S
Also consider Herbert Richter, a little expensive, but well worth extra pennies.
I just received Verizon's, and it's superb. It's more like a dock, where you plug your car charger into the back of the mount and the dock charges the phone.

Bump. Anyone tried out the official Verizon car dock for this? I heard that it defaults to launching the VZW navigator, but can that be changed?
Just came across these:
samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/ECS-V1A3BEGSTA
samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/ECR-D1A3BEGSTA
Anyone tried these? I'm also wondering if they will work with the Sprint Nexus S 4G - Samsung's page says they will, but the 4G phone is going to be 1mm thicker and they could have just screwed up.
I can't say anything about the car dock because I don't use any. But, as for the desktop dock, I recommend taking a look at the KiDiGi dekstop dock for Nexus S. It looks awesome, it holds it tight into place, and it's not that expensive; also, it has a version with a 2nd battery compartment.

I've got both.
Nothing fancy, no bells or whistles.
Desktop dock has a blue LED to indicate when the phone is plugged in. When it's docked, the phone automatically goes to clock mode. Press the clock app on your phone's desktop to see what it looks like.
Car dock is completely passive. Very sturdy though so the phone sits there without jiggling, even when you press the screen/keys. Cheaper models are sometimes not quite so sturdy.
But both seem very good build quality. I'm happy with both of them.

Mind if I ask where you purchased them from? Samsung's online store always says they're backordered. I've been looking everywhere online for another place that sells these docks ever since the phone came out, but I can't find them for purchase anywhere. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have been on the fence about the desktop dock, but may have to buy one! Does it slide in and connect pretty easily?
Yes it plugs in and connects very easily and smoothly.
Feels like a very nice fit between the phone and the desk dock.
With the car dock the fit is very tight, which is good because the phone is not moving from its place at all.

Can the desktop dock be turned upright? Or does it have to lay on its side?

I found mine at best buy last night...they had both car and desk dock. I purchased the desk dock for work and love it. Just used it this morning for first time. Slides in easily and goes into landscape clock app automatically when plugged in displaying time and weather. Very cool!
does it come with a built in bluetooth? like the nexus one dock
I don't believe so...nothing mentioned on the box...just seems to charge phone and throw into landscape dock mode.

I just got a case from the sprint store yesterday. Do you think the phone will still fit in the car dock or will I have to remove the case?

I looked at them both at the local Best Buy. They don't look like they would work with a case so ill probably put just an invisible shield on to use the car dock.

can you tell us the seller. I want to dress up my magic too. thx
Ebay Item#170562383600
OEM Housing Faceplate cover HTC Magic G2 Google BLK/Red
Price: US $16.10
Ebay Member id szcoco88610
How hard was it to swap the housing? I've done PSP and DS housing replacements in the past and they were fairly easy. I seriouly want to do this one because my Magic is looking a little worn too lol.
Very easy... Just a hand full of screws... Only issue I had was with the volume rocker... Needed to trim the tabs cause they always kept the volume buttons pressed... Took only a few minutes actually... Maybe 20 tops start ta finish

It looks awesome. Mine is in a really bad situation. The previous owner always threw it around.
I'm considering getting this case, looks awesome.
I ordered new casing too... it's otherwise perfect but there's a small annoyance - the microphone slot was mirrored from the original, so I couldn't use the silvery new middle cover. But well as it turned out I actually like the phone much more now with the new white covers and the original red middle cover - see the pics! The covers are from eBay too, seller sunestyle.
I hope you can get the idea even though these pics are taken with a phone.
First, the microphone annoyance. Red is original, silver new:
Second, front:
Third, back:

hmmmmm do you have a link to which case you are referring to? I would like to get the magnetic one if that is the one you are talking about
Did you mean original Samsung case? I got one from Rogers and very happy, it's worth every penny spent.
Id you mean the original normal case, it's very useful. It's quite "heavy" but comfortable to use. Mine has fallen two/three times and the only problem I have is that the clip no longer closes tightly .
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda premium
I use the original case to "fill in the gaps" when installing it as a car head unit. The 7" tab is tiny bit too short to fill the width of a double-din slot, but with the OEM case, it fits perfectly.
This one is my Fav, with built in bluetooth keyboard and works like a dream, padded and perfect.
hehehe just wish now the damn thing would fit in my pocket like it used to sans case >:¬}
I want this! Looks handy
