Does anyone with stock honeycomb show 4g in the notification bar? Mine only shows 3g even being in a 4g area. Put the same simm card in my gingerbread streak and it shows 4g. Does honeycomb only show 3g? Its the little things that drive me nuts!
Thanks.

I have the same issue.
It's nowhere as fast as my Verizon LG revolution on 4g either. I'm beginning to wonder if it really is connecting at 4g.
Sent from my Dell Streak 7 using XDA App
Under tablet status/network type it says HSPA. Shouldn't it say HSPA+ if it is 4g ?

+1 that I'd like to know an answer to this as well. I suppose I could go to Speedtest.net, but I'm not sure what I should look for to "prove" it's really 4G.

HSPA+ is not actually 4G so it's possible this is a fault in Honeycomb (not recognizing it as 4G). If there was an actual verified OTA from T-Mobile, we would probably see the indicator as "4G"

Ummm... this was a new Dell Streak 4G that CAME with HC 3.2 installed, so I think it is close to whatever the OTA might be. That said, I think I can prove we are getting 4G speeds. Check out my Speedtest result from my runs this morning:

Faster than my Cable Modem or my Clear WiMax service. If it wasn't for the 3 Gig restriction I'd be tempted to get another line and replace my home service
Android displays HSPA+ as '4g' (even though the original definition it isnt 4g)
Check settings -> about -> status and see if the network type is HSPA or HSPA+
I believe it's only the statusbar not turning on the 4g inidicatior, it needs to be specifically enabled in 2.2 and the line isnt in the 3.2 build.prop
It only shows HSPA, no plus. My downloads are nowhere near ewan's download speeds. At best 4 or 5 mbps. I put the simm card in my older gingerbread streak and it shows 4g, and the same HSPA in status without the plus.

Just got my ATT N1 and was wondering if there is any way of turning on HSPA? I just got my Telus droid last week and that has HSPA and i like how fast it is...The milestone shows 3g and H when downloading. how can i enable the N1 to to d/l on or show the H? Thanks in advanced...
Also is anyone having reception issues...on the N1 im having 2-3 bars when my droid and 3gs is full bars...if so i hope there is also a fix for that...
perhaps the nexus doesnt have a HSPA icon and just displays a 3g one in its place, easiest way to know is download a SPEEDTEST app and check your data speeds.
i had the droid myself, just sold it. and got the nexus, the droid showed HSPA since thats prob available in Canada, not in US. So it was essentially what i described above
if i understand right its that u cant, the N1's 3g wasnt built to work with atts 3g so your only ever gonna get half of the 3g through att, so no hspa on Att, could be wrong though.

The factory ROM doesn't show an H, it uses the 3G icon for both.
You can look in the settings to see if you're on HSDPA or not when downloading.

the rom's are personal preference. I personally use cyanogen as it has everything i need right now.
I am getting 1.3 on speed tests, does the Bionic have a 4G indicator? All I see is 3G in the top bar.
The card is in correctly, it is activated, I can make calls, browse the web, but no 4G and I am in a RED coverage area. Other phones get 4G here...
any ideas? Something I forgot to do?
Yes it should say 4g. Go to wireless settings and mobile network and force it to 3g and then back to auto and see if that helps.
i am in a full 4g area (not extended coverage area), the best speed i have seen on 4g using the speedtest.net app is 1500 kbs, more typically it is around 1000 kbs. 3g tops out at about 400 kbs, so at least 4g is a little faster :-(
Thats really odd, my Bionic is getting better speeds then my Charge did by a little bit. Try turning off the phone and pulling the battery. If that does not help try a factory reset and let it re activate.

Just spent 30 minutes with technical support, they said it should be working, they suggested I go to another area with 4G coverage and try it.
I will be doing that later.
They said if I still get no 4G when others do, it's my phone and I'll need to return it.
I will update this thread in case anyone has the same issue.
Troubleshooting was:
Power Down Phone
Take Out battery
Remove Sim
Wait a minute
Put it all back together
Then same thing while being reactivated by tech.

wow, 4g is absolutely amazing (20 Mbs download)...about one mile from my house, apparently i live in a HOLE even though Verizon's 4g coverage map says otherwise
gormly - have you tried connecting to 4g from different locations? might be worth a shot if you haven't

Ouch. You should get them to send you a micro sell for your house lol.
I was just curious as to what download and upload rates everyone's getting.

I'm getting anywhere between 1.5Mbps and 3.5Mbps I just made the switch from T-Mobile and a Mytouch 4G where I was getting upwards of 5Mbps no matter where I was and sometimes close to 10Mbps. I have to admit I'm kinda disappointed, I can't even watch HQ YouTube videos without pausing the video and letting it load. : /

Live on the very edge of "4G" coverage according to at&t map. Can go fro one side of room to other and not even get 3g. Totally stock and unrooted, so the settings for full "4g" are not on.have got up to 8mb when closer to town.

To continue for the closed thread in the dev section.
Hello, my name is quarlow, and I'm a flashaholic.
The i777 (original Galaxy S II) is the premier flashaholics phone. Not only is there 5 stock based ROMs, there is CM7 and MIUI, plus its the only US version that can port i9100 ROMs to. The skyrocket may be the same ghost town as the Thrill. Its a good phone with a niche feature. Thrill has 3D, skyrocket has LTE. But in every other way the i777 is a better phone. None of the i777 devs will be moving, they have all confirmed staying with the i777.
If you really want LTE, and live in an LTE area get the vivid. I bet the vivid will pick up the Inspire crowd. But, it still remains to be seen if the vivid has an unlocked bootloader, so it may be just as bad as the skyrocket.
On a side note I see the same speed on my i777 that I saw on my Thrill. About 2-3 Mbps down, 1.5 up. In my area they have HSPA+, and those speeds are 50-75% higher than what I got on my captivate is the same place.

I have a Nexus 6 on Google Project Fi. At home, my phone switches between LTE and eHRPD when on Sprint. This happens about every 20 seconds. Project Fi support thought I had corrupted software and wanted me to do a factory reset. I will monitor your thread to see if any of the suggestions posted for your problem would help mine. Good luck.
And I want to add its not the service because my girlfriend has a cheap metro PCs a phone and the signal is always strong

I updated my N6 from MOB30W to MOB31E and my signal strength and service continuity is much improved. The radio baseband did not change so there must be a software update or refresh that has helped my situation.
I'm using metro PCs got the unlimited everything the LTE is surprisingly fast.

Before I switched to Verizon I had my Nexus 6 on MetroPCS, and WiFi calling worked for incoming/outgoing calls and SMS but not MMS. You need to contact Metro to get your E911 address updated if WiFi calling isn't working for you. Didn't have B12 near me though.
I've had my phone for two weeks and it's never been able to connect to LTE. Am I the only one experiencing this issue?
ATT has my IMEI in the database and still no success.

You do realize that Oxygen OS doesn't show an LTE icon for LTE service? LTE is still considered 4G service, and as such it's only reported as 4G.
Download LTE Discovery, it will tell you if you're on LTE or not.
Straight Talk MVNO: AT&T Towers
OxygenOS: No, I only get a "4G+" which after a while seemed like it was as fast at LTE if I got good reception. Either icon next to the signal icon means the same thing.
Sultan's ROM: Yes, I see the LTE icon, and I even get the LTE icon indoors where I used to not get it on Oxygen OS. The APN was automatically in the system as well on this ROM.

Take a look at your APN's. If they look right, give AT&T a call.

Already did that, no worky. So maybe the phone is just defective, or OnePlus sent me one for the Chinese network and but the USA.
