5 Home Screen Customizable Stock Launcher - Nexus S Themes and Apps

Here is a gem I found and Hacked in my search for the perfect android launcher. First of all its very smooth has 5 screens and a interchangable dock. Unlike the UD Launcher with 7 home screens this has 5 which is perfect for me. Unlike the Reddv1 Launcher its very fast and has up to 4 dock icons and Unlike the Black Launcher you can use gray, black, normal, or 100% transparent. Well it is too good for me to be selfish and not share here it is for anyone that wants to try it out. If you like it press thank you and I will share more. BTW heres some screenies

When your on the home screen press and hold the icon you want to change and a option will show asking you to change the icon to something else ala ADW or Go Launcher

Also when you download this you have to push it to your system/app folder and change the permission the same as you would change any other app then reset. Here a screen shot of what I mean. I use Root Explorer but you can use any folder explorer that works with rooted phones.

Nice. Damn nice.

Nexus One Theme

ayone know where i can find a good Nexus One theme?
Haven't seen a theme change notification bar color yet.can mess with my mode themes to customize your own and download helix launcher from market to make it a little like nexus one, till we have root I doubt you'll see an exact replica of n1 on this phone.
Don't forget adw launcher. Real nice. Or wait till the froyo update

I just hate these bubbles around the icons and I figured a good theme would get rid of them

HELIX IS GREAT... AND RUNS FASTER (YOU CANT USE THE HTC SENSE WIDGET... BUT THEY SLOW THE PHONE DOWN ANYWAY)
ZEAM IS GOOD TOO
These and a couple of others are free in the market place, there is even a home switcher app to jump back and forth.
Enjoy!

Can you back this up? I have the HTC Mail, Calendar, Messages, Flip Clock, Twitter, Music, and News. Each one is a 4x4 on its own homescreen, and I'm using the 7 homescreens. On the one with the flip clock, I also have 8 shortcuts.
I have yet to see this slow down the phone in the slightest, so I'm not sure what you are referring to with the slowdown.
launcherpro is actually the fastest stock android launcher app.
And motorjonny is right, the HTC widgets WILL NOT work on any other home/launcher app. they only work with sense.
cant believe no ones said GDE with the nexus theme! gde costs from market, but nexus theme is free...

MiUi Theme

So i been wanting to use MiUi for the longest time but i have no HDPI device
so i did my own research and came up with this
video- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV1Ngirei6I
My own very MiUi on myTouch Slide
Ill show you how to do it
Get This ADW Launcher by andmer - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845376
I used these icons - http://www.droidforums.net/forum/team-d1-miui/104197-launcherpro-miui-icons.html
and thats it
1st. place the icons (after you d\l and extract) on your sd card
2nd. install and set the ADW launcher from up there^^^
as default launcher
3rd. once you have set up ADW, press menu> adw settings> UI Settings> AB
Size> change to 13 (otherwise icons will be too big and look blurry)
4th. go back to ADW main setting then go to General Behavior> Swipe Up
Actions> click Open/Close App Drawer
5th. Click home
6th. any icon you are gonna use (for dock or on homecreen) drag out of app
drawer (by swiping up) and place on home screen.
7th. Long Click App Icon then let go a window should pop-up tittled "Custom
Shorcut" click on the picture of the icon
8th. Once you click icon picture another pop up window will show tittled "Select
Icon Type" click "Select Picture"
9th. Navigate thru your gallery and find the MiUi Icons and select the icon you
wish to use.
10th. Drag icon to dock (if using it for dock) or leave on home screen.
This should give you the MiUi Look
-MiUi Player is found on Cyanoginger Rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=886589
or flashable (found in same thread)
-MiUi Clock is Fancy Widget Pro with MiUi Clock Skin/Weather icons.
-Transparent Widgets found here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796399
Enjoy

[Q] Launchers

Can someone tell me what the best launcher is to use? And does anyone know if someone is working on making a Galaxy Tab launcher? Because that'd be amazing!

Honestly Launchers are like cars, what works for me may not work for you... Personally I use, and love, ADW EX. That being said people swear by Launcher Pro.
Zeam has been great for me.
Sent from my HTC EVO using XDA App
I rather enjoy ADW myself. But I've got Zeam and LauncherPro that I use from time to time just for a change of pace.
I seem to be having trouble with shortccuts (adding) on launcherpro an dean,
I just get a quick black screen and then i'm dumped bcack to my main screen.
I do not have a crash. I uses autonooter to root my book.
Is it just a bad root and i should do it again from scratch?
Or is this a launcher/book issue?
Thanks
Robyn

Still trying to find the Launcher that allows a scrollable bottom dock bar, and/or the option to change the visual effects when swiping through home screens.
Anyone know which one I'm looking for

LauncherPro does both of these excellently. I highly recommend trying it.

I'm using awd ex, and I'm very happy with it. Recommend it for everyone. Prefer it over LP (used both alot)

I personally prefer Zeam over ADW and launcher pro
ADW is the way to go. Always been happy with it...
I was using LauncherPro, then switched to ZEAM. However I recently revived an old OpenHome purchase for my old Behold 2. I dropped the Eris theme on to it and have not turned back. The bottom sliding drawer is a nice touch.
I hate the zeam app drawer. But it is the fastest one. I use adw ex
Nook Color via Xda App
I used to run Zeam, came pre-installed with one of the Auto-Nooter scripts or something, but recently switched to ADW. I use ADW EX on my Android phone and highly recommend like many otheres here (my girlfriend owns the Nook Color or would be running the EX version of it on the Nook too)
ADW EX ftw...

Launchers

hey, i was wondering whats the best launcher for the 2x.
so far ive tried adw, launcher pro, go launcher ex (still using)
go launcher ex is still the smoothest of them all, but im begining to think it uses quite some battery, what are your experiences ?
I'm using Launcher Pro and I really like it. So far it's been very smooth and I've had no excessive battery draining from using it.
I haven't had time to try out any others yet, my O2x is still a baby
sent from my O2x
I'm using the LG launcher
Go launcher ex was the best, until after a few nightly builds it went extremley laggy, now on adw ex and so far so good.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
GO Launcher EX.
Tried a couple of others, but GO offers the best mix of being fast and flexible.
I'm a fan of ADW EX. Tons of customization available.
im on adw ex right now as well. buts its laggy (not much but still) compared to go launcher ex. lol. and im missing some customizations.. but the theme stuff is quite nice
the bad thing is that i only like launchers with vertical scroll in app drawer
LG home would suffice, but the app drawer is the only place that launcher DOESNT lag at. so lame.
i'm using launcher7 donate
i like it , simple and fast
Im using MX Home and realy impresed with performance, realy nice home app , but what im realy waiting to try out is this one

Using go launcher ex with no lag or issues whatsoever.
I'd recommend to all others.
Plus additional downloads of go dialer and go contacts are also worth a download if you're running a custom rom.

2)spark launcher
3)zune launcher
4)7 launcher

Where did you get some of these launchers? I can't seem to find all of them on the market. Which ones did you like?
I'm using Go Launcher at the moment after everybody here recommended it and I like it a lot more than Launcher Pro. Smooth and very customizable.

Thanks man, I'll try a few of those out. I'm a huge fan of the WP7 interface and live tiles but Launcher 7 is not quite smooth enough for me
I'm going to have a try of the Zune launcher, that looks pretty cool. Thanks.

hve fun,cheers
[if u like WP7's over all look then if u want u can try out few themes of widget locker lockscreens(few possiblities i've uploaded down for your refrence) as well just to get the whole feel of WP7 on ur 'android' !!! just a suggestion]
1) functional costumised lockscreen
2)WP7 lockscreen !!!
3)samsung galaxy s-II lockscreen
[all the lockscreens are on LG O2X ofcorse !!!]
after using adw ex i went back to go launcher. its just the best (smoothest)

launcher 360 and sslauncher both really nice

here is the latest 360launcher and sslauncher apps. 360launcher is modded in english (not by me) and it has to be the fastest launcher (most beautifull too) i have ever used. It allows folders even inside app drawer, automatically puts your media in tabs inside app drawer etc. It haz a memory optimizer that really works and an auto power manager with 2 profiles (more options available if you upgrade the power saver for free from within the app). Overall it is bugless other than that the built in weather widget (which is really nice) recognises only chinese cities. sslauncher on the other hand makes your phone look like a magazine cover which is really cool. it has many pages on the main screen with the main page (or more if user specifies) being like a cover with highly customisable styles and the rest being pages with apps contacts(no screenshot for obvious reasons) internet favourites and so on. Both apps are free and some screenshots included. Enjoy.
edit:first 4 pics are launcher360. Rest are sslauncher some greek on it but i forgot o change language
edit2: launcher 360 includes a themechooser app with 30ish themes to download plus an unlocker app with really cool unlock styles (got to see tetris unlock screen)
I used 360 since it's pre-release and it's light and fast, but a bit laggy on drawer. Fewer options than Go Launcher but the stack transition animation make you feel like MIUI Now 1.5.1 is much smoother.
you can find custom themes by xda members right here:

Well in actual MIUI there is no app drawer so the icons are all over your screen as well....
I know, i use miui 1.12 on N1 and also NS MIUI 4 before i switched it to AOSP+ ICS since there is not much themes yet for ics version.
Also make miui themes are a lot easier than CM. Mtz doesn't require signing or compiling. Just zip your file
