I know Verizon---> Cricket is possible, but does anyone know if it is possible to do activate a verizon Droid on Virgin Mobile? They both use CDMA, but I understand there are some issues with changing the ESN? Can anyone shed some light for me here?
I've downloaded CDMA Workshop, but I'm not having much luck with experimenting

Yeah, it is. You need to track down a Virgin PRL, APN, and all the SPC's.

How in gods name can you do this i need to know o.o
Unfortunately I could tell you but then I would have to kill you after because it is a banned topic and I do not want to get banned. Les just say the info is out there and cdma is the tool worth buying if you are a cell tech. Fix them in seconds verse hours.. I you still need other tools however to get data and mms working. Also a string in build prop could change the phones model number to echo any.

My dad is on Cellular South and looking to get a new phone. They have a Milestone with a slide out keyboard and I was wondering if it is a good device. Is the Milestone Cellular South's version of the Droid I am guessing?
Sent from my FroYo'd Hero via XDA App
The milestone is a great, although aging, device.
It is the GSM version of the Droid...almost identical.
But for a non-poweruser, the age will not show at all.
If your dad has any problems with it, just come back here and we tell you had to fix it

I am pretty sure this Milestone Cellular South offers is a CDMA model with a slide out keyboard, just like the Droid... not a GSM phone. A buddy of mine has a Hero with Cellular South and his is CDMA.
I know that Verizon uses the non SIM card format...CDMA?
I am on T mobile and have a relative that wants to give me his original Droid. My question is if it is possible or not to unlock a droid and put it on T-mobile?
Id appreciate any help. thanks!

Different radio band with, you can't make it run on the different frequency otherwise people would be using Sprint phone's or ATT phone's on Verizon, or visa-versa all the time. Networks install different radio bandwidths in the devices so you can use a phone that they can guarantee you have a signal depending on their coverage area. Not sure but pretty safe to say here to achieve that in a device made specificly for Verizon not gonna be possible. Correct me if I'm wrong by all means but haven't seen anyone do that yet.

Definitely why I asked imma keep fishing though, I want a %100 guarantee, know what I mean? Unless it comes down to an absolute hardware issue.

It's simply not possible. The radio frequencies of a GSM network (AT&T, T-Mobile) cannot be detected by the antennas of a CDMA phone (Verizon, Sprint, cricKet) without hardware modification among other things. It's like expecting to get 4G out of a 3G phone; not to mention the network encryption and MID issues.

The answer is NO.
The Motorola Droid can't even accept a SIM card. It's useless to you.

No offense but why do people want to take nice phones and gimp them on MetroPCS? The service is garbage. If you want prepaid, then get it flashed to PagePlus if anything (many times you don't even need to flash anything, it will just work after activating and programming OTA). There are a couple decent phones on Metro (LG Connect or LG Esteem, namely), it's easier (and probably cheaper) than getting a Verizon phone finally working on their network properly.

Well from previously working for MetroPCS, i can honesty say there are some area other carriers don't have any service in that metro does because they have their own towers, and if there in MetroPCS 3g coverage then i don't see how they would "gimp" there phone plus if they wanna pay 1/3 of there monthly price on Verizon i don't see why not..
An alternative people could use is unlocking there bionic and use a prepaid gsm carrier like simple mobile.

Simple Mobile is also pretty terrible (I am a Simple Mobile dealer myself). Does Metro even actually have 3G? I remember when their 4G LTE started (which from my testing is slower than Sprint's 3G coverage), they only had 1x and 4G, but no 3G.

Hello
In china, Droid3 can be soft unlocked to use gsm/wcdma/evdo. I know droid3 and bionic use the same baseband, QC MDM6600, so I think can bionic use wcdma?
I am a chinese and i am a student, so my English is very poor, but I mean no disrespect
Thank you

Might go with this .. I havent been satisfied with how my revo works since I got it. Thought updates would help but no luck ...seems to me a big memory leak somewhere I can't even run my work app. Without issues and it is pretty rudementary ...my OG Droid worked great til screen died ..not a fan of LG myself either. So we shall see how it goes .....thanks for your input

I just bought my wife a RAZR MAXX and I'm impressed. I'd say RAZR MAXX all the way. The Revolution isn't bad once you get Gingervolt on it though. It's useless without it IMO.

Personally I'd keep the REVO (make sure it's ROM'd) and wait for the Galaxy SIII.
