So even after updating to 5.7.839 i am still dropping 3g data, any ideas why. I am rooted if i need to return the phone do we have a way to go back to complete stock? Like verizon ruu?
Haven't fully tested yet or not, but there's a buzz building about a data drop fix on some other forums..
Trick is to freeze the "Battery & Data Manager" and the "Battery Manager"... this isn't my idea, and I can't remember the person that came up with it.
I just did it on my bionic (about 2 hours ago) and I've not dropped data since...but I didn't have it happen too often...
You might give it a try and see if it helps..
DO NOT DELETE the apk.... just freeze them or add a .bak to the end of the file... just in case.
Tim
I have been experience no 3g data connectivity over the last couple days. (4g has been working fine though). However, my 3g has come back now. I think verizon has been having issues. I called tech support this weekend, they said they had been notified of data issues with their 4g phones and were working on it... I don't think it's your phone for now.
For reference I'm rooted and running the Shift3r ROM.

I can personally confirm this works, but I changed these three. Sorry having issues with pic. Batterymanager.apk, datamanagerapp.apk, datamanagerservice.apk... Changed then to .bak with rootexplorer

Important.. Rename Batterymanager last as out will force close and you need to pull batt, and all is good for two days now.

Thanks guys! Anything to figure out how to squeeze a little extra life out of the battery is good. I haven't been running ATK lately because I didn't think it was necessary to kill running apps with the new android version but I may have to rethink that decision.

So much more battery life
"On the way to an Iconic Revolt"
Didnt know people still used ATK... I stopped back on my original Droid with 2.2 came out
Another great program to use us Autostarts off the market. Its well worth the 99cents and time for set up. I've had it through four android phones. Basically it lets you control what apps start based on system events and triggers. Love it!

Using atk and setcpu. I wiped my battery stats when I changed roms last night at 6pm, just got my low battery warning 3pm the next day. Almost a day with much use, as could be seen by the amount of posting I did
The 1.4 ROM is very nice

steel droid 3?
Yes I think he means Steel Droid 3... Also, just to make sure, you DO have an XT862 right? I've heard the Steel Droid ROM will screw up an XT860. Just being thorough.

Ive never tried SD but both Monster and Liberty worked well for me.

This is very light use (some texts/tweets/angry birds/randomness) but still it shows theres no real standyby leak on Liberty, and ive seen similar performance on Monster.
All goes to show that at this point all the major ones are basically the same. You'll even see decent battery life from the stock ROM (5.6.890 update) once debloated.
Thanks for mentioning that, Savior057. I busted my XT860 by trying to flash Steel Droid. If your phone is an XT860, there are no ROMS available yet (except the Stock Chinese ROM (SBF/XML that can be flashed via Fastboot) - but I wouldn't flash that unless you absolutely had to! There is no stock Bell XT860 SBF/XML flash available yet).

I tried both SD and Liberty. This is the result of my experiment.
I tried SD 3 first. It had a very good battery life. Then I tried Liberty Gold. It was not good so went back to SD 3. Now, a couple of days ago, I flashed Liberty 1.2. the battery life is much better than SD 3. 24 hours after charging, I still have 60% left with moderate usage.
I hope this helps.
P.s: I also tried Monster 12. I was not impressed.
I am sitting beside my girl who has a stock unrooted Bionic on .905. She gets 4g. I'm on the ICS .2233 leak and have 3g. I ran a 1500 speedtest, she ran a 17000. Please tell me why! First level verizon rep said he saw something holding me back. second said he was mistaken. I am unimited plan, she is not.... Can someone help please?
You should fxz back and update to .232 ics 4g is much more stable on it.

Do you happen to know what phone setting i should be on? My phone currently says preferred network: global. The Verizon rep kept having me change it around, and i didn't now where i started...

I went back to stock unrooted .905, and still no 4g. Called Verizon again, they had me trade sim cards between the 2 bionics. Her phone still had 4g, mine still 3g. Since our area is not in the 4g coverage map they said nothing they could do. I've had just about all I can take with Verizon. Anyone else have any ideas of what might be causing the problem? There are also 2 Samsung Statouspheres in the house receiving 4g. Insurance claim for a new phone? Drop verizon and goto a new carrier? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
Well if u restored back to stock and tried a different sim card, sounds like your 4g chip went bad if your other phones have it. I would say have verizon warranty replace it,definitely wouldn't switch carriers, verizon has the best 4g and customer service in my opinion, they never give me any problems for replacement bionic's if u tell them u have data drops.

Couldn't do a warranty because of screen crack happening on day 1. I did beak down and put in an insurance claim... 4g working perfect now. Thanks to all for advice and opinions

So since the update to 4.4.2 on Verizon with the new battery life update, my battery lasts about 6 hours, and also I keep losing my softkeys, have to keep rebooting to get them back. Just curios if anyone else is having this problem??, I emailed motorola today and they saiid that no one else is having this problem. and told me to try turning my phone off and back on and see if that helps. Does anyone think that smashing my phone and filing an insurance claim to go back to 4.4 a good Idea?
Yes, insurance fraud is a great idea! By the way, no such issues on my VZW Dev Edition. Same ROM, just with an unlockable bootloader.

Insurance fraud is illegal. And I'm betting you haven't even tied a factory reset.

I have not had the issue with the softkeys... but I have had horrible battery life! 5.5 hours today and I was from 100% to 0%. My phone always feels very hot. In my pocket it feels like I have handwarmers. It's not like I played a game at all today for more than 5 minutes, or talked on the phone for a long time. It was less than average usage and horrible battery life.
Getting fantastic battery here. Stock 4.4.2 unrooted

Load gsam to try to figure out what is eating your battery. I had a similar issue after 4.4.2 upgrade, discovered that wifi was really running hard (turned it off, also found a box down in settings to turn off where apps can use wifi even with wifi off). I also found my email account was eating my battery. I killed my account and loaded k-9 email. Now battery is fantastic.
My battery is getting drained pretty rapidly. I'll try shutting off Wi-Fi whenever I'm not near a hotspot and see if that fixes things.

No issues here following update, backup your stuff and factory reset the phone.

I had the same issue with my battery the day after my 4.4.2 update. I contacted Motorola and they asked me to clear the cache partition. I did this to make them happy but I actually fixed my issue. Hopefully it works for you too.
So i had already already done the wipe and factory reset. The only thing that fixed this was the clearing of the cache as far as the battery life. Also I found that the loss of the soft keys was from after use of team viewer and clash of clans apps after I hit the home button to get out. When I closed the app on exit I haven't had anymore problems losing the soft keys. This ones was more of my own stupidity. Ha thanks for the help

Out of curiosity, to the peeps posting pics of their battery status; what was your screen time?
OK so i have been a crack flasher since release day of ICS. But i am to the point the only reason i really need root was restoring apps with TiBu. I was excited to hear about Marshmellow having an opt out data restore process. However i have never gotten it to work. Literally no app has its data restored. It basically installed the apps and it did remember my stock launcher layout.
Can anyone shed any light on what is going on?
I had 1 app restore data, and that was instagram, others didn't

After reading this http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/10/android-6-0-marshmallow-thoroughly-reviewed/6/
I understand how it works a little better. As i am completely stock and have manually configured some apps i do have some app data in the google drive/settings/manage backup. However still not everything. Which means once again if it doesn't get what i want i am having to root and use TiBu.
It appears to be quite an incomplete list.

Not sure what to tell you. While they made this sound like a perfect solution it is just as hacky as everything else they provided so far.
I wonder if its an API level thing on the apps that are not showing up?
Yes it is odd. as when I had to do a wipe and restore on the M preview more if not all of my apps had their settings restored. Moving to the official version with a clean flash and I got the same thing, just instagram restored.
Just reading more about it.

I do not have an answer at this point why less then a quarter my apps are showing up in the Google Drives Managed backups.
