In case you didn't see it... the ICS Keyboard has been ported!
I find it to be an excellent replacement for the stock keyboard.

Is there a way to use the better keyboard on the nexus? i installed it but still uses the default one
Yes, open the keyboard and hold the 123 keys till input method wording show. Then you can choose better keyboard as the default.
I installed Smart Keyboard Pro. To use I had to enable it in Settings > Language & Keyboard.
But I can only use it in html forms by long pressing a form field, selecting "input method" and than choosing it. The whole process makes smart keyboard pretty much useless...
Please, let me know If you can successfully enable better keyboard and overcome this problem somehow...
Regards,
Thiago Souza

Hi all!
How can i show keyboard on long press menu (default is search) on stock Rom like cm7 ?
Or any way to show it without touch on text (to use with jbed)
I think it depends on the apps you are using. Sometimes it shows automatically when you are about to write something
go to setting -----> cyanogenmod setting ----> input ----> long-press menu button -------> choose behavior -----> soft keyboard
