Hi to everybody! Can anyone help me to change white characters on dark background to black ones on white/clear background? I used some programmes able to change anything except the homepage appearance. Thank you for your help!
Ah, I'd like to change characters due to the very poor readability of homepage in sunlight even in the shadow. Thanx

It depends on the "theme" you have. some are white on dark, some the contrary.
Get some and try. (lots of them everywhere) Then you can find on the forum some tools to design your own homepage.
There is no straight solution (I mean, an "appearance" page as in Windows XP)
Hope it helps.
Thank you for your help. Actually there's plenty of themes on the web. I also found "Phone themes studio", a freeware programmme that helps to build up such themes, but the files are saved in a size not recognized by P3600. Where on this forum can I find the tool to build the new homepage? Thanks again, ciao

Make a bit of research in the forum, and try the wiki. I have not made them myself, (too time consuming), and there are so many themes already working, that you will surely find one that suits your needs, or many one to change daily!

I've patched together a working version of JJ's Black Dialer from some cabs of his, plus some patched bitmaps from me. If you follow these instructions exactly it will work. I did this within days of getting my TyTN II and have yet to need to do a hard reset, it's very stable.
I posted screen shots of it in the themes thread and have had PM requests for it so here goes. If someone with the skills could make this into a single cab, I'd be jazzed as I don't have those skills...
Black Shadow Black Dialer CONFIGURATION - Installed on Kaiser**
BACKUP FIRST!!!!!
1. Install Part1.CAB then Soft Reset
2. Install Part2.CAB (**Kaiser installs but says it fails) DON'T Soft Reset (press cancel after it is installed --> then go to the next step)
3. Install Part3.CAB then Soft Reset
YOU MUST FOLLOW THE ABOVE EXACTLY TO THE LETTER OTHERWISE IT WONT WORK.
Once the above procedure is completed, it takes around 2mb of storage space.
This non-video dialer is the basic WM6 (Crossbow) one and on Black Dymond 3.5
He was actually trying to port a dialer that matches the current NON-VIDEO one in the Shadow.
This was unsuccessful due to complication with incompatable DLL's for video telephony etc.
NOTE: Once you have completed this procedure you will permanently lose (well until you HR) the DEFAULT big-button dialer in your PPC.
After installing this, you will find that the background is too bright in the upper right corner to see the Bluetooth Headset Icon and Call Timer
as the original Black rom had black icons and Kaiser has white icons. I also found that the end call buttons were the wrong colors on certain screens (like during a call, the End Call button was gray when it should be Red). I modified the affected bitmaps to correct all of these and include them as the last step.
4. Unzip the fixed bitmaps and copy them into the Kaiser's windows folder and the dialer should be complete.
As I say, it's not very clean to install, but it works very well for me
Here's the screen shot again. I also attached a shot of the contactCM with the WM6 black theme cause they go great together!
Can someone make an OEM of this?
One of the guys over at Modaco has tweaked the Orange video dialler to black. It isnt quite as smart as the black dialler, but it works - with video!
Thanks RemE. This worked great.
Finally I got rid of that horrible AT&T WM5 dialer!
I've been using this dialer for quite some time now and it's great. But recently I don't know what happened.. some of the boxes like call history, speed dial, etc all became a white box.
Do I need to install the files again to fix it?
What uninistall that tool??
Fixed bitmaps is not working

I haven't seen that before, you can try a re-install. If that doesn't work, then I think hard reset and re-install may be the only way back.

Not sure what you mean, did you install the 3 Cabs first, then copy the bitmaps into the \windows folder on the phone?
As far as I know, the only way to remove this dialer is to perform a hard reset.
Well I think its fairly apparent that M$ is not going to make a newer style native dialer for 6.5 so we may be stuck with the same dialer from the WM5 days.
Is anyone willing to redesign the layout of WM dialer? We have several different skins, but I think a new layout is whats needed for 6.5, perhaps to mimic the HTC dialer, or perhaps different.
Any takers?
Edit: I will update the first post and add in everything that we can come up with for easy access. Thanks to all who support.
+1 for this. Not sure if the layout can be chnged yet, but maybe some skin to make it look changed. Is there some existing skins for this somewhere already?

+1 for the layout change though. There is some unused space at the top that I don't like. The number buttons are not quite finger friendly either. IMO.
Maybe we coud post a zip with all the stock images and reg entries to make it easy on skinners. Can someone put together a zip with all of this stuff and Adam can link it in first post?
I will most likely have a look at this too, but busy at the time being. I'd like to make it look like the HTC dialer, and then go from there.
Not sure if this is the same dialer, but there are a few skins for stock dialer at www.skinzone.org. They were from 6.1, so not sure if they would still work.
EDIT: I gathered up the images real quick, but didn't get the registry yet. Let me know if you think I missed an image.

Sure thing, I will update the first post and add in everything that we can come up with for easy access. Hopefully people will see that something is being done and will join in. It may not hurt to contact some good people with photoshop skills either like Herg and bilbobrian.
Edit: After thinking about it, we may get better coverage if this was moved to the Development and Hacking forum.
I wish they would make the dialer the same as how they have the dial pad for the lock screen...that would be sweet if somebody could make a skin or dialer like that:
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/02/windows-mobile-65-ofc10.jpg
Somoene skinned the HTC dialer to match the buttons in 6.5 and it looked really good.

i'll take a crack at it later tonight after work...its been bugging me too.
That would be awesome... and I know we can expect something good from you, you always seem to post top knotch applications/themes/tweaks.
Hi,
Attached is something that I quickly knocked up to make the WM6.5 dialer look a bit more like the lock screen when in a call.
I hope that it is useful.

Matt, what is the file attached. I noticed the different default theme pictures in the folders, but I am not sure how this file should be used. Is it a program that allows you to choose a theme? If so, which file to you run and do you run from pc over activesync or from the device itself?
If you extact it on your PC, the directories are for cooking and if you run the "make_cabs.bat" you should get a folder called cabs with installable cab files that will change the phone's skin. You need to soft reset to get the phone to use them after you install the cab (or copy the files over in Resco Explorer from the folder of your choice.)
(see attachments - I am using the Blue Drop theme)
big thanks

I hate to admit that the same happened for me. I ran it three times...then I thought about it. And I refreshed the window.
I doubt this is your problem, but I had to put it out there.
just to let everyone know, i am working on something, I'm toying with going with squared-off buttons (see 6.5 calc for an example) or the lockscreen-esque rounded buttons (similar to mpattman). should have some time this weekend to really polish it.
Rounded buttons.

Hello. Just installed it. I think the bridge background was good. I am not sure if it is showing in others but my device show "shadow" with text and because the background is white it doesn't look good. So personally I'd get the bridge again .
Other than that so far its working smoothly
Will report more soon

I'll give this ROM a go now.
Just a question though, is there a way to change the button/menu style to the flat/black buttons? Not a fan of these new "bubble" buttons

ROM Tests great!
Thanks Aeroflyluby, of all the ROMS I have tested on the Himalaya, this is easily the best, fastest, and most usable. Awesome!
I would prefer the Background of the Kiwi Fruit over the flowers.
Only small issue with Calendar in WM6.5. Due to larger font can only see a few hours in "Day View", which means you have to scroll up and down to see all appointments in a day. Is there any way to change Day View to see most of the day like with WM6.1?
Keep up the good work.

HTC Task Manager
On testing a few apps designed for WM5/6.1, that have a toolbar along the bottom of the screen, so the WM6.5 StartBar is not visable, and therefore can't close the app except by using menu system, and selecting "Exit".
Is there any way to get back the HTC Taskbar, so we can have a task manager with "X" in the top right corner to manage these apps?
Thanks...

Dear Trekfan422991,
I downloaded both “iDIAL” & “iCONTACT” CAB files prior to downloading the “Intui-tech Intui-Skins.cab” from http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ onto my HTC HD2 device.
However, I have serious misgivings about the way these applications are offered to the user. I have no doubts that these applications are very useful and indeed do look very nice on the Internet site.
But, the instructions are hazy, misleading and frustrating. For one; a CAB file should be constructed in a way that the user won’t have to apply various other steps in addition to the actual installation in order to make the app work.
If however there is the need for some extra steps taken during and/or after the installation, they should be clearly described in a logical sequence. This is clearly missing from this application.
To be more precise, for a start there are problems with the “iDIAL” & “iCONTACT” applications. Once lodged there is no command to close down these applications other than pressing the return hardware button, which doesn’t really closes these apps. Furthermore, the instruction in “Intui-tech Intui-Skins” that one should use the settings; there are no such function exists in those two apps.
Sure, once I read in your blogs that there are some PNG files to deal with, the issue became a bit clearer, and at the same time more confusing as well, because from the “Intui-tech Intui-Skins” installation guide these were missing.
By this time one really sorry that started the whole business and wishes to remove these apps from the device. Alas, they do not appear under the “Remove Application” list, thus one has to remove them manually from the File Explorer.
Weather or not they left some traces behind is an open question. As to the “Intui-tech Intui-Skins”, it doesn’t appear anywhere in the device, thus it cannot be removed it seems…
I wish that such half-baked applications will not appear on these WM sites, and especially not when the instructions are misleading. I hope that my criticism will be taken as a positive one…

those instructions for settings and skins and stuff can be found on the actual developers website..

the only reason i created a cab... (my first cab ever actually)
was to make it easier to place ONE IMAGE EACH in the icontact and idialer program file folder
all my cab does is essentially place an image in a folder
no uninstall was provided for them because it is just one image for each program
and if you know how to change your settings in icontact you dont have to uninstall it just simply select the default skin instead..
