OpenVPN working only on rooted devices.
whether your device (your stock rom v10a) has been rooted ?
s4pt4, thanks for your answer.

Yes my v10a is rooted, but when i connect to the openvpn there is a log saying (Can not find TCP/TUN dev dinamically)
I already found the tun.ko and installed into the sdcard, but nothing.
The only rom working for it is the customs made of CM7 V20.
Any idea?

This is my fist post in the forum so please don't judge me too much
So , in order to install a custom rom on my OB he must be based on the same software version as the desired custom rom. For example the NOVA rom is based on V10c but my phone is on V10a so in order to install it I first need to flash my OB with V10c using SmartFlash for example. ( Of course the pone must be rooted, having the CWM...)
Is this the same case with the CM7 ( based on V20,which is a Gingerbread ROM build from scratch ) , can I try to install it even if my phone is running on Froyo 2.2.2. ?
It seems that the LG updated the B2C and the KDZU and R&DTT are not working. So for now there is no manual way to upgrade the software version from v10a to v20. We can only use SmartFlash to upgrade and downgrade but he needs the .bin and .fls files and not the V20N_00.kdz. In the list of all the available bin/fls ROMs there are no roms based on V20. (Sorry cant give the link as this is my first post). And there is no way to convert the .kdz into .bin and .fls files.
So the conclusion is that for the moment I can't upgrade from v10a to V20 if the version is not officially available in my country. And I can only install roms based on Froyo. Is this right ?
No, this is wrong ...
You can go from V10a for CM Rom without having to change the version of software, for example.
The software version you have, no matter anything with the rom that you will install, it is not necessary to have the same software version of ROM, since the rom replaces.
You can go from 2.2.2 (V10a/V10c/V10b, etc.) to a 2.3 ROM without problem.

Noobys thread might be of some help =)

Thank you ! I installed the Marvel v2.1.1 and its looking nice ! Much better than the crappy LG UI. I hope it will perform better as well.
Hi!
I flashed the v20n this afternoon and it works fine but the vpnc client is no longer working. It says there is no tun.ko. So i learned that i have to flash my kernel...
No idea how to do that and how to get the right one...
Pls help !!!
I dont know if the tun.ko is enough, or if you really need a whole new kernel. If you need another kernel, you can go to Huexxx' Zeus thread in dev section and take one of his diana kernels, cause those have got VPN enabled and tun.ko is in his ROMs, too. But I am going to make a flashable zip for you and then you can test and see if it is enough
---------- Post added at 12:51 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:33 AM ----------
Here is my flashable .zip with tun.ko in it, from Zeus ROM, so credits to Huexxx
http://www.mediafire.com/?vtrb50zxqpmhamt
I flashed the zip file, but unfortunatly it´s not working, vpnc still says no tun.ko. I found a support site and they say there must be a tun.ko in system - lib - modules. right now its in system - etc -modules.
Would you be so nice and modify that zip file for me...
Thx..

Here you go, hope you get it working. And if not, simply flash a custom kernel of Huexxx
So. Now i flashed Kernel_4.4.3_eabi by Huexxx and it works!!!
Thx for the help!!!
Did you flash my tun.ko as well, or was the kernel already enough?
i flashed only the kernel. it´s a bit unstable at the moment. it crashed twice today. have to do it once again all over again. Any recommendations which kernel i can try instead of huexxx´s with my rooted v20n?
Try one of these: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1536264
All stock or diana kernels
Hm, the only one working with vpnc is the Kernel_4.4.3_eabi. So i give it another try and set up my system again..
Update: the system is too unstable . So if anyone has another tun.ko or a kernel which fits into the rooted v20n i would be the happiest ob user ever

Ok, I had the same problem, but I found solution - you should compile tun.ko by yourself. I've done it yesterday - the result was tun.ko working on rooted v20n (kernel version: 2.6.35.7+). Download and try tun.ko from attachment
Thanks!!!
Hey, thanks, great job, vpn is working!!!
I would like to compile it myself, but actually i don´t have a clue how to do it
Is there a thread or guide somewhere?
Ok guys I've have just downloaded and installed this ROM I found called GingerXperia V30B from http://tux8newblog2012.wordpress.com/2012/04/03/gingerxperia-v30-stock-kernel/ (Sorry website is in spanish, you can translate it if you wanna read it).
So I installed this ROM with nAa custom GingerBread Kernel based on stock 2.6.29 SE sources ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350484 )
I also have CWM installed and everything else clean.
I also full wiped before installing both the ROM and Kernel (Installed ROM first).
Also installed the V30C update including on the first thread mentioned.
The problem is that when I go to wifi settings and click to enable Wifi it just says "error" under wifi. Like Cyanogenmod 9 without the wifi fix.
So my question is, does anyone know any fix for this ROM?
I don't really wanna change ROM since it's a great ROM as far as I've seen including (fake)MultiTouch.
Anyone?
I did'nt even know there was a GingerXperia v30
But on topic i dont know how to fix this hence the first sentence maybe its something with the ROM?

This ROM is for stock kernel, not nAa! That's why WIFI (and propably vibrations too) doesn't work

If you use this ROM V20q, you will have to try, if the update tool works. I find those LG tools are working randomly.
If you cannot update and want stock ICS on your phone, restore with Paul O'briens Smartflash, then you erase all traces of rooting your phone!
Cheers
Mike
On the other hand, will the stock ICS rom be as good as something like the hybrid Temasek rom anyway.
If we had the drivers for the video chip (and HDMI?) it would be perfect. As it is it's still better than stock in every other way.

i seriously think ics wud be better than the customs...atleast they will be bugfree and as u know stocks roms r always better user friendly then the customs.
Im using temasek rom and symbiosis kernel at present. Will be back to stock gb in a few days

for stock, latest i'd suggest is v8. anykernel versions have issues with wifi & bluetooth when installed on stock. there's also v9.5 for stock made by iodak, but that one has issues with access point (due to updated drivers that iodak later reverted), so if you don't use wifi access point, that's the one i'd suggest.
Yes, I never used access point
Si I should flash iodak v9.5 ? and is th access point the only problem ?
Thank you for you answer

yes, but 9.5 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49683372#post49683372 (even AP works on 9.5, 9.9 has issues with wifi AP, so i recommend 9.5 for stock from this link)
