A little guide for getting the best custom tailored performance in Nik's rom
what do you need:
-an inredible S with nik's rom installed
-Titanium backup pro or Titanium backup free + an app that let's you freeze apk's
-OC/UV beater
-Lord kernel v5
-battery calibration
NOTICE: if you already tinkered with your ROM it will be best to start from scratch
-Boot into recovery, flash Nik's Rom (if you have not already), reboot back into recovery (press volume down when countdown for reboot starts, keep pressing button untill reboot finished), now flash Lord kernel V5 (yes, use lord kernel, not RCmix) and reboot the phone, set it up as usual and install any alternative apps you would like to use (i mean apps already included in rom, but where you prefer others for, ex: SMS,Music,Dialer, etc)
- now install titanium backup, battery calibration and OC/UV beater, after that go to settings/tweaks/rosie options/quick scroll and set to all 2D, then settings/tweaks/display options/autobrightness and set to sloppy, then settings/tweaks/system/enable/disable commands and install virtuous OC deamon, now reboot your phone
-after reboot open oc/uv beater and set wake gov:smartassV2,wake min:122000, wake max:1305600, sleep gov:conservative, sleep min:122000, sleep max:460800. now press 'perm activate', then press the settings key on your phone and goto 'ocsettings', set all options to 'ProfileVOC1', close OC/UV beater and open superuser, press the settings button and choose preferences. set automatic response to allow and untick 'notifications', close app
-now charge up your phone to 100%, open battery calibration and press on the 'battery calibration' button. unplug the phone, and it's important now to leave it unplugged untill the battery hits 20% or lower (best calibration)
-reboot the phone in recovery mode and make a backup
-last thing to do now, open titanium backup pro, go to backup/restore and freeze everything you plan on not using (tap program, then tap 'freeze'), make sure you don't freeze OS critical stuff. there are many lists on what is safe to remove/freeze on sense rom's : example. Do not remove at first, but freeze !!!!!
now run your ROM for a few days, if everything is working as it should go back into titanium backup and uninstall all frozen apps (tick app, then tick uninstall)
If not everything is working as it should, start unfreezing apps that you suspect of being the culprit and test
-after all this, you have a tweaked out rom with great speed, maximum free memory and good battery life !
wat is this?
gr8 effort but it seems more like "how i setup my rom" more than a guide..
sry if i sound arrogant or offensive..

It's normal that your phone get's a bit hot under high load (43° Celcius is ok for example) If you think its getting too hot, set wake max to 1.2Ghz, not every phone is the same, all depends on the CPU. as long as it does not freeze or reboot, you are pretty much okay
Okay I will try that and tell you..
And for battery calibration I fully charged and clicked the calibration button and it showed calibration is succeeded and I unplugged the device.... Is that correct ? And what now?
Thanks

lol yea and use your phone till your battery at least less than 20% charge it till full again.. at least 2 cycles you will see the improvement of your battery... don't trust the first cycle of your battery drain..

hi,
I followed to the letter (well, almost) the installation manual of the kratos mod . Everything worked well .
But at the end of install , the big file 001003-Overcome_v3.1.0_KRATOS_Wipe.zip, remained in the "flash drive".
Can this file still be useful, or can I just delete it and forget it ?
you can just delete it and save a copy in your pc just incase you need it in the future.

my tip is to leave it in the sd card ext so u can have it l
there IF something goes wrong.
then u just enter recovery and install it again. .
if something went wrong, most likely you will have to wipe clean with stock so I say the file is not usefull, feel free to delete it but save a copy in your pc.
Best way to start from Stock

Guys !!
I have flashed this ROM & really happy about the new features but I have a issue with Battery... Display use most of the battery does anyone know how to fix this ? I set Battery level low most of the time and make it Auto if I go out in Sun... I have done Battery wipe and stayed for some time but when I use tab it eats about 10 % Battery each hour this was not the same with 2.3.3 stock.
Thanks!

Hi Please let me know is whether there is any procedure like "Charge your phone, unplug, reboot, charge again till full then unplug and reboot again. When fully charged again, delete batterystats.bin or wipe battery stats in recovery. Reboot, charge again till 100% then you are good to go!"
or is it just one time full change & reboot like you said ?
Thank You
As long as you have more than 50% battery you're fine to flash...

Okay, first of all, and I'm not sure if this is relevant, a few days ago I hard-bricked my phone trying to unlock the bootloader. I got it repaired (I think they changed the motherboard or something) and after that I installed GingerDX (for stock kernel) and everything was working fine and smooth. Then, I tried to overclock it with a module for overclocking (not sure what it was called) and SetCPU.
When I inserted the module, everything was working fine. But then I installed SetCPU and tried something with it. I think I tried setting it to a higher frequency, but not much. And after that, it rebooted itself. And it kept rebooting all the time. It would turn on for less than a minute and then it would reboot.
I wasn't exactly sure what to do, and since I didn't have much time and I needed my phone, I just went into CWM, made a full wipe and just installed GingerDX again. But when I turned it on, it was lagging quite a lot. Not THAT much, but it was quite visible and irritating.
I tried to change the governor from ONDEMAND to PERFORMANCE, and it showed that the CPU frequency had changed from 600MHz to about 700MHz I think, but it still felt the same. Then I switched it back to ONDEMAND, and it's still the same.
Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

For me, the overclock never work on froyobread and gingerdx on stock kernel. When I install the module, the phone just stay unstable, and without a overclock (at 600 mhz with module installed), the performance is sh!t. So, if u need overclock, install a rom with include the module, like cm7 v7 (i dont know). The best is unclock bootloader, but i dont do this.

Hi, I'm having a problem with my Touchpad 32GB. I'm having problem with the CM9 2012/11/18 build. I've installed it, but after a few minutes of use, it resets on me. I've done it a few times, same problem. I've restore it back to webos 3.0 using this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426244 and I've tried installing it again, but I still get the same problem.
The files that I have in the cminstall folder when I started are:
moboot_0.3.5
update-cm-9-20121118-NIGHTLY-tenderloin
update-cwm_tenderloin-1012
And when I run the novacom command, I'm using the ACMEInstaller2.
Can someone help me with this problem? Also, on a side note, which version of Android would be most stable?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I use the 11/18 nightly and it works fine for me.
Take a look at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002968
It could help with your rebooting problem. I've been lucky, never have had that problem.
Make sure if you doctor back to 3.0.0 to update to 3.0.5. You can do it OTA.
Good luck.

Playing a sound didn't seem to work. There were some sounds played when I tap a button, but I also played a music button to be sure, but it still restarted on me after a few minutes.
Update 2:
I've restore my touchpad hopefully back to the way it was when I got it. Can someone give me some direction on what to use to install Android, hoping what I originally done caused some kind of problem.
I used acme installer 2.
I recommend using ACMEInstaller3. It will be necessary if you ever want to install Jelly Bean, so might as well do it now.

I dont remember where the setting is on CM roms, but if you go into settings, then they should have a cyanogenmod setting option, then performance I think. The min clock CPU speed is 192 I believe, I can't run anything below 384, and on some rom's I have to set the min at 432 or it will randomly reboot. Not saying this will solve your issue, I was just curious what your speeds were set to.
You can also use an app from the play store, such as kernel tuner or no frills cpu to set your speeds.

Just reinstalled CM9 on it using ACMEInstaller3. The min/max is 384/1188 MHz. This time, it was a little different. A few minutes in, I tried to turn on the WiFi and the screen gone blue. I restarted it and and up the CPU speed. It restarted in a few minutes, last longer this time. I wiped the both cache and did a fix permission, saw it in another post, and it restarted within the first 2 minutes after it boots into CM9.

You could try reflash the kernel see if it helps. Or flash another kernel then flash that one again.
Btw when you OC it is recommended to not set on boot the new frequency until you test it for some time without rebooting. Once you see it works fine you can set on boot.
thanks for reply - flashed redux which i remembered had max clock of 1500 mhz, and it worked again.
thanks lol
will know for again! (hopefully!)
Set on boot is not your friend. Set on boot will never be your friend. However wiping the phone would have worked fine.

Good luck man do your experiments as i cant help you
but there is universal solution called factory reset and reinstallation
reboot into cwm recovery
- advanced - format data/media
- format data / factory reset
- wipe cache
then flash CM and GApps again.
But remember: Before formatting the CM and GApps must be on your extSD card
