Android process drain problem - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know this is old news and the normal solution is to restart to solve the drain. My problem is i have been on serendipity 7 as long so can remember, recently I have been having trouble with the Android process drain for about a week and a restart does not solve my problem. Even after a restart the drain is still present. Does anyone have any suggestions other than a reflash.

Try taking your battery out for a few minutes. Also might try clearing cache and dalvik cache

Try to completely empty the battery by rebooting after your phone shuts down because of low battery. Keep rebooting it after it shuts down again till it doesn't want to boot anymore. Till the battery is completely empty.
Then Charge it again and leave it on the charger for more then 20 hours.
Don't know if it's gonna work but give it a try
EDIT: Q? are you using a custom ROM ??
Ok I'll give it a try, thank you. I have this problem since i flashed a modaco firmware and wiped my battery cache via cwm. Anyone else having those issues?

I reverted back to stock on my O2X and I can get 48 hours out of the battery. I had the same issue as you and reverting back to stock seemed to cure it too.
Just an FYI I thought I'd share.

48hours when you are using him or 48h max on standby
USE phone heavily. Use it till the system turns OFF automatically
Turn OFF phone
Charge till it says it is FULL
Start phone in RECOVERY Mode
Select Advanced CWM Features
Select Wipe Battery Stats
RESTART phone

Sorry, should have given more detail. That 48 hours is with general browsing and social networking with a fair bit of video recording and camera use. No 3G though. All data was over WiFi.
Certainly not just stand-by though.

No full power use of the processor i understand
i thought i had the problem too with the MDC fear 5.3 but it just jumped from 98% to 100 after 10 minutes so its probably a mistake which solved itselve if you charge it long enough.

Didn't work for me, i did it exactly this way, charged it for about 10 hours, booted in recovery, wiped the battery stats and it stills shows 97% when i boot it. However, it's not a disastrous failure, i can live with it and hopefully it gets fixed sometime.
Finally, i found the solution for me. After i reflashed the stock rom, where this problem doesn't occur, i flashed a modaco rom again WITHOUT WIPING THE BATTERY STATS. Now it's all working fine, i charged my phone to 100% a few minutes ago. Hope it will help some of the people, who are still having problems.
Does kernel version has anything to do with this issue?
Don't think so, i tried the stock, Paul's kernel from FR12 and the EternityProject Kernels 1.3 and 1.4, it was all the same until i tried reflashing without wiping battery stats. For the record, i flashed the new TK-Rom V 0.6 with the EternityProject Kernel 1.4.

[Q]Android-system 29% of Battery JVQ

Hi,
I recently updated my phone to JVQ but now i'm having a battery drain. The cause (i think) is the high percentage of the android-system. By now its 29% and that's alot. I already deleted the programe software-updater so that can't be the trouble maker anymore. Does someone has a fix for this?
Greetings

Yeah....let your battery go completely dead, then try turning on to make sure its dead
Leave your phone off and then plug in charger until its full, then unplug and plug in again to make sure its full
Repeat these steps 2-3 times and it should be all fixed for you
Also....using titanium backup, freeze the program called "Samsung account" that's another culprit in the "battery drain crisis"

I have already done that a few times, friend of mine has completely the same setup as i have and my battery is down twice as fast. Maybe it's the battery itself?

Yes, using deodexed stock jvq rom and speedmod k15-t24. Using black background screen dimmed, and everything to make my battery life the best but it doesn't make it one day. So maybe there is a bug?

Try going back to stock froyo, and flashing cfroot kernel so your phone is rooted but not deodexed or any other mods, then repeat the cycle and see if it gets better that way.

Just flash froyo and then repeat the cycle so i don't need to stay a day or so on froyo?

You'll need to be on froyo for about a week or just over, just until you've repeated the cycle 2-3 times bud

Phone does not wake up after ICS

Hey everyone,
I flashed ICS a few days ago and then a day or two later flashed rocket rom. I am not really sure if this problem happened before rocket or not.
My phone randomly "shuts off". Maybe it doesn't wake up, I don't know how to tell the difference. I have to either pull out the battery or do a hard reset sometimes.
Any suggestions as to what I should do? Go back to gingerbread? Or reinstall rocket? flash a different ROM (midnote, etc)?
Thanks everyone!

There is an app called Wake Lock or Keep Awake or something that won't let your phone get into deep sleep so it doesn't happen.
Had the same problem, I remembered from the HTC HD2 forums something about avoiding it by turning off auto-brightness.
After having 4 sleep of deaths in 3 hours, I had it once in 24 hours. Dunno if that's what affected it, but much better. Try it.
Kernel related. Flash a different one. Wipe cache and dalvik after kernel flash.
Some kernels are plagued by this problem because of kernel base used. Minor hardware changes in newer batches do not like the old kernel base.

Wifi Off when sleeping?

Anyone had any luck with the option to turn off wifi when sleeping?
I tried checking it, but it has a problem reconnecting when I wake the device. I have to manually toggle the wifi to get it to reconnect.
I'm trying to extend my touchpads standby time. I already turned off most syncing.

I've been having the same issue lately.
You could try an app called Automatelt it is very easy to use and there is a trigger for screen off/on and an action Wi-Fi off/on . I use mine to alert me and turn off my TOUCHPAD when the battery gets to various levels.
I hope this helps .
If you are using android, try updating your current build to the latest. Wiping Dalvik cache may work too.
Just did a clean install of 9/16, did the same on 9/3.

Random reboots and battery drain

Hi to all, I've trouble in this day with random reboots when I make a call or using data connection. After battery is completely drained and phone starts to bootloop.
Then when I plug the phone to the elettricity, it shows me up 50% of the battery.
If I left it in stand by or using sms, it has no reboot, if I make a call or something "strange" with 3g starts to bootloop.
What should I do? :banghead:
I've dmod v6 and AMA4 baseband

Root and omnirom on SIIImini
After flashing die Rom I don't have possibilities to root my SIIImini. With CM 11 I don't have this problem.
What can I do?
It's the same on me. I flashed different rom more than one and wiped cache, data, dalvik and still reboot. Can anyone confirm that buying a new battery solve this issue?
@Gad81's right and I can confirm that it's the battery, happened to me half a year ago

I confirm it is because of a dead battery
Hi
I was going to start a new thread on this issue.
The same is happening to me. I'm using right now R-Mod by ronin790, great ROM BTW. I tried wiping dalvik and normal cache, installing different kernels and issue is still present.
Weird thing, though, when I go to recovery (TWRP 2.7.1.0 by Android-Andi) my battery doesn't drain nor the phone reboots. It stays "normal". Only when booting to system the issue starts. In my case random reboots and abnormal battery charge starts between 30-50%.
It's a shame that our batteries came out defective. I'm afraid this is not covered under warranty, right?
Best
I think not, but you can get an extended 3600mah battery from eBay. I'm currently waiting for mine
Yes, it does make the phone thicker, but it's worth the extra battery time you're going to get.
