do i need to wipe battery stat? - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have replaced the stock rom with gingerdx v19. the phone is functioning well. One thing I notice is that if I charge it offline. The most it would get up to is 94% no matter how long I charge it for. If i charge it while on it will shoot past 94% and eventually get to 100% full cap.
I am just wondering if this means I need to wipe battery stat. Other than that the phone could last for 3-4 days on minimal usage.

If you satisfied with your battery then you dont need to do it but if you are not you should do it like this: Charge your phone 100% reboot your wipe battery and reboot it, while its loading unplug your charger and when your phone is loaded charge it again to 100%

[Q] Whats the proper way to wipe battery stats? (i think thats my problem)

So I was running cognition 2.4.1 for a long time, and my battery life was awesome. It would barely go down at all if I didn't use it, and would make it through the day with about half to spare. On normal days I unplug at 630am and at 5pm it would be at ~70% (if i didn't really use it at all). Even if I did use it it would still last a long time.
I finally decided to flash a new/different rom and thats where my problems started. I flashed Assonance 5.0 and the battery life got worse (at 5pm i was at about 45%) so i just assumed it was the rom and that cognition was better on battery life. So my next flash was back to cognition (a newer version, b7 i think), which improved battery life, but it was barely noticeable, and was no where near what it used to be. Next I tried pheonix v1.5 and that was probably the worst yet, as my phone almost died by 5 oclock.
Finally I decided I would go back to cog 2.4.1 even though it was outdated. I figured this would solve all my problems. I was wrong as my battery life is absolutely terrible right now. At one point yesterday it drained 12 percent in 30 mins.
Something else also happened yesterday. As it was almost going to die i plugged it into my car charger for about 10 mins. It was at 15% when i put it on and 19 when i took it off. After that my battery life was almost normal again as it only drained 4 percent over the next 3 hours. Later on that night I charged it back up to 50 percent and about 10 mins after taking it off the charger it said it was at 5 percent. It stayed at 5 percent for the rest of the night and did not die ( about 4 hours).
Theres definitely a problem and I know it was to do with the battery reading. I think i just need to reset the battery stats.
FYI every time i flash a new rom i always flash back to stock jf6, make sure its 100% battery, wipe data and cache, etc etc etc. so im not sure why this is happening.
I also tried wiping stats through clockworkmod recovery, but i dont think it really does anything.
The proper way to wipe battery stats/recalibrate your battery:
Charge up to 100% with the phone on. Disconnect the charger and turn the phone off. Connect the charger; you're now in charge mode. Charge up to 100%, disconnect the charger and turn on the phone. As soon as the phone is on, turn it off. Connect the charger to put it into charge mode again, and charge up to 100% again. Some people also say that before starting this process it's a good idea to kill the battery completely.
That is how you bump charge, or recalibrate the battery. After bump charging is the best time to wipe battery stats.
I can't find batterystats.bin on the phone to delete it. Is the only way via terminal mode or Clockwork?

Erase battery stats to get better battery life? flash without full battery?

Is it true that the porcentage of battery u have when u flash ur phone is the one that will be used as the new 100% ? also whats the procedure i should use to erase the battery stats? my phone dies in like 4 hours , let it discharge, charge completely and then?
I don't think so, cause i always flash my MS anytime i wish even when the indicator show <20%, or when charging on UBS
I also never bothered to charge fully before flashing. Though I think resetting battery stats does help indeed.
i also read something similar to this, someone told me to charge to full, then let the phone discharge UNTIL IT TURNS OFF BY ITSELF (=battery completely dead), then charge to full again and then delete the file batterystats.bin in /data/system folder (root required).
i suppose this is what you are talking about?
i will try this in a few hours (currently discharging the last % of my battery).

Im confused im supposed era the stats before right after chanrging full charging the phone or i sould let it discharge m, then erase the stast and then full charge the phone?
What's your ROM?
On froyomod do you have option to calibrate battery and wipe battery status
Well, I've flashed it to FroyoRom with approx. 40% charge, played around a little, the next day when I was normally using it and my battery went down to 30% I deleted the battery stats, the system rebooted and voilla, I was at 50%
I don't know about this full charge - discharge - full charge - delete stats version. I guess I'll try it on an occasion and see what happens. At this moment I'm at 90% after being disconnected from charger for 5 hrs, though I wasn't using the phone much during this time.
...and currently finishing the same charge - after 1 day and 17 hrs currently at 20%. My Milestone never made it through the day without having to charge it through the night. Love it
The FroyoMod is really the best at the moment...

[Q] Bought a new battery and reset battery stats...

So I bought a brand new battery off ebay, wiped the battery stats and everything else on the phone and I installed a new ROM.
I followed Cyanogen's Wiki battery wipe procedure.
My problem is that when I get to the last step the battery doesn't seem to recharge to 100% even when left overnight; but if I reboot it it will go to 99.9% then 100%
Is this normal for a new battery?
i think the proper way to charge a new battery is to keep the device off and let it fully charge, than turn it on..? maybe.. im not 100% sure lol

dont know if anyone had that issue but i did too. best way is charge the phone to 100%, leave it plugged still boot to recovery, wipe stats, reboot, let it sit for a couple of minutes then you can unplug. or download this app Battery Calibration and when your phone is fully charged, just open the app, calibrate the battery, unplug and go
ps the G1's battery sucks monkey balls, but if you find a stable and decent rom/kernal, itll last you a whole work day with minimum usage, and having data off

[Q] just wanna ask x8 battery life

hello
i just wanna ask something about my battery life on my x8...here's how it goes first i fully charge my battery up to 100% until it says on status battery full...then i unplugged it..after it i texted for a few minutes...and i check the status of my battery and it says: 28 mins 23s on battery..my battery is on 96%..is this normal.? or somethings draining my battery,?
i use minicm7 2.2
this is normal since battery is heating itself while charging, and when it cools down it shows less percentage of itself... to maximaze your current battery life, calibrate the battery:
1. charge it to 100% no more no less
2. leave the charger PLUGGED IN, and reboot to CWM
3. there you should find somewhere under options or advanced "wipe battery stats", and you press that
4. reboot your device and when it starts up it will show about 91%, charge it to 100% and you have your battery calibrated
NOTE: the charger is always plugged in
ok thanks i'll try it... one question should i drain the battery before calibrating it.?..as in zero percent??

Yes , that is recommended.
Also , one advice from me.
Even after calibration , whenever your phone says 100% charged , reboot it while the charger is plugged. You will get the exact battery charge after reboot.
Do it every time your recharge your phone.
Then stop rebooting when you get a 99% or 100% after a fresh reboot. Trust me , it helps.
ok thanks for the advice i'll try that too...
it is normal dude ....mine is giving 1day on heavy use
use zepplinrox's supercharge script...it really made a CONSIDERABLE change to m battery usage time
I have one question: "Why my battery is giving 6-8h. My battery 2 days ago giving 24 and more hour." Sorry for my English, but i am from Poland
what happened 2 days ago? did you install new ROM?
The OP might not have needed to install a new ROM, just an APP or maybe just a combination of APPs running. My phone sometimes canes the battery in a couple of hours from 50% to nothing for no apparent reason. On both stock and custom (actually better battery life on custom) it lasts about a day but sometimes about 6 hours! Not sure what is going on as this happened on both the stock 1.6, 2.1 and the custom 2.3.4!

charging battery issues

Hi guys
My Redmi has experiencing a bit odd behaviour every time I charge his battery
I always do full charging cycles, from 0 to 100%, and than use it till it full drains.
I usually charge it with the phone off
The last couple of times a strange thing happened: I fully charge it from 0, with the phone off, but when I turn the phone on the battery level shows something in the 70% level, the last time it was 77% only., This time I connected it back to the charger, and it went to 100%
I already installed a battery calibrator, but this keeps happening now
I use the original Xiaomi charger, or a Sony charger.
My Redmi is running the stock Marshmallow ROM - that's another funny thing, my phone simply has no updates to Noughat or ahead, I'm in Portugal those updates should have already arrived
So, any suggestion from you?
Regards
Antonio
Most probably your device has fake MIUI vendor ROM. I am guessing this because there's no update you got on your phone.
Redmi 4X has been updated already to MIUI 10 based on nougat 7.1.2.
I would recommend you to backup your all data on phone and clean flash latest stable update and restore back everything.

I'm not very worried about using latest ROM's on my phone, the charging issue is the the thing that annoys me the most, I'll think about updating my phone if and when the other problem gets a solution.
Does anybody has a say on this matter?
You should try to keep your battery level above 50%. Lithium batteries need charge to keep their effectiveness.
Only do 0-100% maybe once a month. When you do, charge the phone when off to 100%. Boot phone, if it is below 100% at startup charge more until it reaches 100%, then restart. Continue this until you get stable 100% or consistently close to it.
Battery calibration apps are trash, don't even bother with it.

Okay here is my thought on your situation.
I charge my phone upto or around 90% to 95% and recharge it when it falls down to around 20% to 25%, due to my daily routine and usage i do get around 20% battery remaining almost everyday and in very rae case it goes below 10% till now for me it never went shutdown due to battery gone full zero.
I have Redmi 1S and i charge like this and i still do get around 2.5 hours of screen on time on it which is great considering it is 4 years old device. and i am still using same original battery came in the box which now shows some ageing signs since it has little bulge on it and sometimes phone shuts downs it self and after turning on it looses 10% to 15% of its charge.
it is recommended to keep some battery % left in phone for good battery health.
over time battery does loose its capacity.
you should consider changing how you charge your phone dont let it charge fully or let it drain fully. when battery drained out completely it does takes some time to hold some charge and when you charge you phone fully the battery does goes back to 99% and goes again to 100% since it is already on charge, this keep happening until stop charging which affects battery capacity and the charge it can hold.
i think in you case this issue happening due to the how you charge your phone.

That doesn't make much sense to me since I charge it almost every time with the phone off, so once its 100% the charging process stops, and there's no way the battery should start draining because the phone is off - and even if it was on, it shouldn't loose 25% at once . If it was hardware problem, with the battery getting worn, I would never have the chance to drain it to zero slowly (it would shut down at 10% or so) or get an 100% charge level - and once I turn the phone on, he does go to 100% without any problem, so the battery seems to be ok
I do the same process with my 5 years old Sony Z1, once I charge it 100% I turn it off, and once I turn the phone on again, the battery charging level shows 100%, even If I do it a month after last charging. This old guy's battery is showing first signs of age, nowadays I get half the time I used to, but not that dramatic thing of not be able to do a phone call with 10% battery level.
So, same charger, same process, why my Xiaomi is behaving differently than he used to?
Why the charge level indicates 100% and once I turn the phone on, it shows 70 something %, and than charges without any hesitation to 100% ?

The I am not sure why is that happening suddenly using same process.
I know you've said not interested in flashing ROM just yet but maybe consider changing ROM to official Global/china stable MIUI 8 or latest MIUI 10.
Possible reason for this hardware/battery or software issue.
Maybe get device checked at official xiaomi service center or contact them on customer care support. They should help you the best.
I'm trying to do the update route, but I'm not very confident on my tech skills - and the downloads are failing all the time.
What's the best/easiest way to update my 4x?

Hi
Thanks for your reply, I ended up finding there's a MIUI tool available on playstore with ready updates for most phones, so I just downloaded the updated ROM directly to my phone and installed it.
It even kept all my apps and files, I did some backups in the process but never had to use them
Thank you all guys
have you tried
1) power off the phone and then after few seconds power on
2) charge using a different charger + different cable when your battery level drops below 50%, just to check if the phone still charges to 76-77% or if it charges to 100%.
3) if the above fails you need try factory reset or flash latest MIUI rom
