[Q] just wanna ask x8 battery life - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello
i just wanna ask something about my battery life on my x8...here's how it goes first i fully charge my battery up to 100% until it says on status battery full...then i unplugged it..after it i texted for a few minutes...and i check the status of my battery and it says: 28 mins 23s on battery..my battery is on 96%..is this normal.? or somethings draining my battery,?
i use minicm7 2.2

this is normal since battery is heating itself while charging, and when it cools down it shows less percentage of itself... to maximaze your current battery life, calibrate the battery:
1. charge it to 100% no more no less
2. leave the charger PLUGGED IN, and reboot to CWM
3. there you should find somewhere under options or advanced "wipe battery stats", and you press that
4. reboot your device and when it starts up it will show about 91%, charge it to 100% and you have your battery calibrated
NOTE: the charger is always plugged in

ok thanks i'll try it... one question should i drain the battery before calibrating it.?..as in zero percent??

Yes , that is recommended.
Also , one advice from me.
Even after calibration , whenever your phone says 100% charged , reboot it while the charger is plugged. You will get the exact battery charge after reboot.
Do it every time your recharge your phone.
Then stop rebooting when you get a 99% or 100% after a fresh reboot. Trust me , it helps.

ok thanks for the advice i'll try that too...

it is normal dude ....mine is giving 1day on heavy use

use zepplinrox's supercharge script...it really made a CONSIDERABLE change to m battery usage time

I have one question: "Why my battery is giving 6-8h. My battery 2 days ago giving 24 and more hour." Sorry for my English, but i am from Poland

what happened 2 days ago? did you install new ROM?

The OP might not have needed to install a new ROM, just an APP or maybe just a combination of APPs running. My phone sometimes canes the battery in a couple of hours from 50% to nothing for no apparent reason. On both stock and custom (actually better battery life on custom) it lasts about a day but sometimes about 6 hours! Not sure what is going on as this happened on both the stock 1.6, 2.1 and the custom 2.3.4!

[Q] battery percentage not accurate

Hi Guys!!
i've done what this link told
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10092321&postcount=11053
but everytime i reach 100% and unplug the charger, my battery percentage immediately shows 97%, be it charging with the phone off or on....
i already did wipe my battery stats in recovery a few times, the first time only it showed that the stats were wiped, after that every time i wipe the stats, it immediately goes back to the previous menu, without stating whether the wipe was carried out or not....
can someone help this noob out here.... thnx
FYI, i just installed darky's rom v8.0 with Voodoo's kernel 5.2(lagfix disabled)
when i was on stock, my 100% could last me about nearly half an hour
I have this problem too. (I am on Darky 9.02 and have seen it in Darky 8.0 too). BUT if your battery life is satisfactory then don't worry about it.
hows the performance on v9.02 bro?

9.02 is good but then so was 8.00. I personally think 8.00 was faster but its only been a few days and am still experimenting. I may remove the lag fix and still need to see if my battery is draining faster.
Also look at this post: Has some interesting but unverified info about the drop from 100% to 97/98% after unplugging

Do you really want it on 100%? Easy, once it says charged, leave it on the charger for another hour and when you unplugged it should stay 100 for a while

Problem posted hundreds of times along with solutions like search the Rom makers forum and read the posts re this problem for starters .
Simple solution save time and effort is to ignore it .

thanx all for the advices.... tried the QueenAmy method, result is:
heavily used phone: battery 'died' at 2%(???)
charged phone until 100%(phone off)
switched phone on while still charging: 97% (didnt have to unplug charger)
waited...then it went from 97% straight to 100%.(funny)
then went into recovery to wipe bat stats.
rebooted and unplugged charger, battery still at 97%....
now trying to charge a bit more longer to see if can change anything... (fingers crossed)

not working bro...
left it on for about an hour, unplugged, straightaway the percentage drops to 98...
It's just a change in 2.2.1.
In 2.1/2.2, they 'stretched' out the battery life a bit to mark it up to 100%, in 2.2.1 they decided to just show it at the actual value. The reason your battery won't charge to 100% is to prolong the battery life, because if the charger always charged to 100% it would have a high chance of overcharging and damaging your battery over time.
There's no real change in battery life.
I reverted back to 2.2 and still have the problem. Maybe i shouldve flashed on 100% battery... Is it possible to solve if i do another fresh flash with 100% battery?

Just to clarify this, you actually cant over charge the battery on the SGS nor Li-Ion for that matter, what happens here is that the battery goes on trickle charge pre 2.2.1 and battery degrades faster if its kept at 100%, 40% is optimal for storage now with the recent changes the phone will pretend it has charged upto 100% but will stop anywhere from 99~97% yes there is no loss in battery life but dont consider 97% as the new 100%, theres already a 3% loss in this to begin with.

Erase battery stats to get better battery life? flash without full battery?

Is it true that the porcentage of battery u have when u flash ur phone is the one that will be used as the new 100% ? also whats the procedure i should use to erase the battery stats? my phone dies in like 4 hours , let it discharge, charge completely and then?
I don't think so, cause i always flash my MS anytime i wish even when the indicator show <20%, or when charging on UBS
I also never bothered to charge fully before flashing. Though I think resetting battery stats does help indeed.
i also read something similar to this, someone told me to charge to full, then let the phone discharge UNTIL IT TURNS OFF BY ITSELF (=battery completely dead), then charge to full again and then delete the file batterystats.bin in /data/system folder (root required).
i suppose this is what you are talking about?
i will try this in a few hours (currently discharging the last % of my battery).

Im confused im supposed era the stats before right after chanrging full charging the phone or i sould let it discharge m, then erase the stast and then full charge the phone?
What's your ROM?
On froyomod do you have option to calibrate battery and wipe battery status
Well, I've flashed it to FroyoRom with approx. 40% charge, played around a little, the next day when I was normally using it and my battery went down to 30% I deleted the battery stats, the system rebooted and voilla, I was at 50%
I don't know about this full charge - discharge - full charge - delete stats version. I guess I'll try it on an occasion and see what happens. At this moment I'm at 90% after being disconnected from charger for 5 hrs, though I wasn't using the phone much during this time.
...and currently finishing the same charge - after 1 day and 17 hrs currently at 20%. My Milestone never made it through the day without having to charge it through the night. Love it
The FroyoMod is really the best at the moment...

[Q] Automatic Battery Mis-Calibration

Currently Running
--> GingerDx V023
--> Stock Kernel.
I wiped out battery stats from CWM just after flashing the new ROM , but after calibration , and after charging the phone the battery gets mis-calibrated and gives me an error in battery percentage of about 20-25%
I calibrate again , and then again it mis-calibrates again.
To explain more , Suppose I have full 100% battery and I calibrate battery. I normally use my phone , and restart my phone after listening to music etc.
I get true and correct battery percentage every time I restart.
But when I charge my phone when it has about 10% battery , it charges up to 100% in about 50 minutes.
And when I restart my phone , it says I have only 77% battery left.
Mis-calibration is only when I charge my phone , not when I am using it normally.
I am not having problems with battery life as such when I finally manage to charge it to 100% after restarting my phone several times to actually get it fully charged (about 30+ hours of moderate usage after full charge) , but I don't get the true battery percentage on my phone when I charge , and my phone doesn't charge to its full capacity in one go.
I re-flashed GDx V023 three times , but the problem persists. I tried all calibration techniques and apps in the market but failed.
What can I do ?

Did you ever try to full wipe your system?
Try to full drain your battery after calibration,
maybe it will solve your problem.
Sorry for my bad english,

Initiated full wipe each time.
Not tried full drain yet. Let me do it and then see if it works .
Sounds very much like a problem I encountered with my spare battery (actually, 2 spare batteries). It also appears to (in part) depend on the ROM. Stock ROMs don't seem to have that problem. Consider it a kind of tradeoff for whatever benefit you're deriving from your custom ROM.
Still not able to fix
Not sure what I can do.
Never had this problem with GingerDx V022

[CM7 doubt] Battery dropping to 97% just after unplugging charger

Hey guys, I have flashed my stock rom to CM7 a couple of days ago (Nightly stable build from August 5th).
Everything works GREAT, but I have only one concern about it:
After charging completely the phone (I use battery widget and I wait untill the bolt is not there anymore. The ace can be like 1 hour at 100%!), I unplug the charger and notice the battery drops from 100 to 98 or 97 (sometimes 96) in a matter of seconds! After that drop, the drain goes completely normal, even better than on my stock rom. The stock rom didn't do this initial drop, but it also didn't use to show the real battery status either.
After some researching I read somewhere that this behavior is completely normal on these li-ion batteries and that phones tends to charge to 100%, then let drain the battery about 4/5% and then charge again to 100 (you never really see this) so you can leave it plugged in for as long as you like.
Anyways, anyone experiencing this behavior with its ACE on CM7 ? Do you know if this is something normal on this phone ?
Thanks!!
Li-ion batteries should never hold a full charge.....so when the phone reaches 100% it will go into trickle charge mode .

Thanks guys
Try calibrate your batery after flash new ROM.
Or when charging try to go --> settings --> about --> status --> battery status.
There you will see, if your battery is full or still charging
Yup. Calibrate your battery
1st charge to 100%
then switch off
remove battery for 5 seconds
reboot

Help. The battery is charged to 100% fast

Hello, friends
I was install a new rom, I did everything right, root, update the CMW, but when I went to install the rom (CM10 Unofficial) phone was automatically turn off, because low battery power. I open the Recovery menu I went out that the load was 0%. Wait till it is complete at 100% (in 8 minutes the charge is 0% to 100% charge), and reinstall the rom, switched on the battery was full, but after 7 minutes or less and went out ..
Now i insalled CM10 for Cooper, , and as usual, when I try to charge the battery till 100% to calibrate, charge loaded 100% very fast (5 minutes) and did not charge more ..
I've tried calibrating and nothing
because, battery not charge completely, the percentage is 100% but is false.
Thanks and sorry for my english

Go to battery usage. Despite the 100%, it will show charging.
That means it is charging.
Either that, or buy a new battery.
