Evidently it gives you more ram and can speed up the phone. This phone is fast already but why not make it even faster????
No credit to me just found it.
sweet if anyone tests please post results!
I've tried this awhile back when my phone is on v4 revolt 1.5
It works but some apps just won't run
If the apps run it load faster and run a bit smoother
I got too exited with the GB and GV and forgot to flash it
I've flashed this last nite been using phone for the whole day
Still haven't run into any issues which is a good thing
All apps I have and some I just install works fine, some apps seems to load faster " about 1-4 sec " and run smoother too
Another thing is when I reboot and check the available ram from settings-application-running service I'll have 216 mb free and it constantly have 148 mb free lowest I got is 80 mb free
Multi-task performance gain is very noticeable.
I had 3 games running " angry birds - cut the rope - field runner hd " , xda app, boat browser, dolphin hd , youtube and texting
Switching between these apps was quick and snappy, loading quite fast
I definitely felt an improvement

Put the file in ext sd card then Flash from ext sd card just like how you flash a theme or rom
That's what I did
You can't flash from update even if you rename the file

I rebooted the phone a 2x just to make sure the settings sticks

It's more stable on GB than Froyo for some reason

I use go launcher ex as my home launcher and have a task widget on screen so I keep track of how much free ram I have
I always kept track of the amount of apps that run before and after this modd
So I just based on the free ram and usually after a reboot that's when the widget shows that max amount of free ram " 216/370 " before is starts loading background apps
When fully booted " 156/370 "
Compared to before I always get " 160/370 " after reboot and " 125/370 " fully booted
Note : all apps running after reboot > full boot is same amount and same apps

Kk. This may be a dumb question but when I have a widget that displays free ram it says 101 MB but when I go into running services it says 187 MB free. Which is correct?

rom first. kernel 2nd.
or swap this kernel with the one that goes with the rom before flashing it. if you wanna do it in one flash.
Uploaded wrong kernel... correct kernel posted now... the Dalvik-cache needs fixed but I'm heading to bed for now.. I would hold off the a2sd until I get it fixed.
is there any way to remove the boot animation from the kernel? i have 2 boot animations 1 from darkys rom and 1 from the kernel both going at the same time.
Just flash the boot animation you want. It did that to me also.
Nice! The return of deadhorse!
I've been flashing kernel after kernel for stability and battery life.
how's the battery life on this? Cause I remember either test 34 or 221 oc/uv gave me 3% battery drain overnight....so very impressive...
So if I'm coming from categorically worthless kernel to this, I just disable voodoo first, right?
Thanks!

Thanks to mtmichealson for the great rom " Gingervolt 1.0-1.3 and Blitzkreige 1.0 kernel builts
Thanks to zeppenlinrox for the v6 SuperCharger scripts and KAK
Thanks to dsexton702 for the universal Adrenaline Shot
Thanks to nibras_reena for sharing the disable verify bytecode and raidzero for creating the flash file
I wanna give proper credits to these guys that work hard for the things they've done
Here's what I have running on my revo currently
GingerVolt 1.3
BlitzKreige kernel " 1.5 mhz "
v6 supercharger script 9 rc4 w options " 6-13-18-19-20 "
KAK
Universal adrenaline shot v13
Disable verify bytecode
I know most of you are already using very similar settings only without the adrenaline shot
I've been testing a few flashable tweak scripts lately and I've found adrenaline shot be more stable and get better results
I've also helped 2 friends did the same thing but for some reason their results is not as good as mine but still they gain a very nice boost to their revo
Here's the link to the disable verify bytecode flash zip
download the
!! RZ_dalvik-noverify-update.zip !! file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263119&page=6
Here's the link to Adrenaline shot
download the
!! Universal Adrenaline Shot V13.zip !! file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236779
Put these 2 files to the external sd
Before you flash the adrenaline shot use script manager app if you don't have it go to the market to download it's free
In script manager go to
/system/etc
Copy the init.d folder to ext-sd
because when you flash adrenaline shot it'll remove all files in the /system/etc/init.d
It won't cause any problems but you still want the other tweaks as well
Now its time to give your revo a boost
Boot into CWM
Create a backup just incase
Go to mount and storage
Its very IMPORTANT for you to
!! mount system, data, and sdcard !!
otherwise the 2 flash zip won't flash properly
If you mount system, data, and sdcard properly it should display like this
!! unmount system, unmount data, unmount sdcard !!
that's when you know you're ready to flash both files
Then flash the 2 files as if you were to flash a rom/kernel/theme
Then wipe cache and dalvik
Reboot
Reason why you have to
mount system, data, sdcard
is when you flash other files that's not made for the revo it won't mount itself in order to have write access
After reboot open script manager
Bring up options menu
Select More
Select Advance options
At Advance option select
Mount /system as rw
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If done correctly it should read as following
Mount /system as ro
Locate the init.d folder from ext-sdcard
Copy all files to /system/etc/init.d folder
While you're in the /system/etc/init.d folder run all files
Select a file
A pop up appear
Select Su/Run as root/skull icon
Select Run
Don't worry if there's error running some file because adrenaline shot is actually tweaks made for samsung phones but still apply to any android 2.2+
Also very IMPORTANT for you not to set any of those file as
!!! Run at boot !!!
because it cause lags and slow down reboots
Then you're done
Enjoy

also, just an FYI to all, the bytecode zip can break some apps...
I used it for awhile and ran into some problems with a music mod i use, i still get some problems every now and then but not near as much as when i ran that script.
However, ik bhp has had no problems at all with it so i suggest trying it atleast
EDIT: also, none of my init.d files copied over

Mine:

Marble Frosted 2.3
Blitzkrieg 2.0 kernel @ 1.9 gHz with Smoothass Governor
ICS Tweaks
KAK
3g TurboCharger

Adrenaline shot v13
Disable Verify Bytecode
Chainfire 3D
and possibly others I am forgetting.
What to include:
The list of any type of mods (of course)
Their purpose
How hard they are to install
If you notice improvements
Pros and cons
And a benchmark would be nice (AnTuTu would be best)

I have:
Gingervolt 1.3
Blitzkreig 2.0
V6 Supercharger U9 RC4
Adrenaline shot v13
Disable Verify Bytecode
I used to have KAK, but it seemed like it was causing data connection issues so I disabled it.

I had the same problem, removing KAK solved the problem.
Getting excellent performance now...
Thanks to all the devs for making such amazing improvements to this phone!
Gingervolt 1.3
Blitzkrieg 2.0 @ 1.9ghz smoothass governor
ICS Tweaks
Its like a whole new phone after putting all of these to use, these are MASSIVE improvements! The only issue I am dealing with is a bit more battery drain but that may just be because I'm actually putting my phone to use a bit more now that it doesn't hang and slowdown when playing apps and games on it!
It all looks encouraging!!
But what are the cons? Loss of functionality or customer support?
I had some free time on my hands yesterday and this morning and thought I would spend the time comparing the different ROM's and Kernels available for the Vivid. Not really sure what I'm trying to achieve here, other than I was curious on the results of all these. I'm going to keep testing and updating this chart and will update as I go for those of you who care to view them. Again, I did (and still doing) this just because and thought I would share.
All these tests were performed on fresh installs w/ full wipes. The latest AnTuTu Benchmark, ver. 2.8.2 was used to get results. Results are an avg. of a minimum of 2 cycles. A cycle being Full Wipe, ROM Install, Boot, Reboot Twice more, Reboot into Recovery and Flash Kernel, Reboot, Run AnTuTu.
**Initial Post**
3 ROM's w/ multiple kernels and frequency's
**Update 1**
Added results of Holics 0.8 ROM using KangBang A13 running at 1728MHz and Kozmik RC2 running at 1728MHz & 1782MHz
--Not sure if I'll be able to provide any results beyond 1728MHz, except for the Kozmik RC2 results. Kozmik RC2 is the only kernel I've been able to run beyond 1728MHz and maintain stability, no reboots, etc. However, will keep trying and will report back if I'm able too--
**Update 2** 06/11/12
Added results of Holics 0.8 ROM using KangBang A14 running at 1674MHz. Surprisingly, I was unable to run this at 1728MHz or higher successfully. Was very slow and kept hanging. Was able to get through 1 benchmark at 1728MHz and it only yielded a result of approx. 3400 (ouch). 2D and 3D fps were around 28.

More to come.....
one question, why Dark Raider ROM have very high score on SD card Write, this happen to me also, does it is a bug or its true..? score about 10x higher than the other ROM.
PS : if u have a time bro, please test again @ the same CPU speed, like 1.5 GHZ or 1.2 GHZ. i wanna know, the best combination of ROM and Kernel. thx
Honestly, I couldn't begin to tell you why the write speed is high. Perhaps some of the developers might be able to chime in on that.
Regarding the additional testing you requested, I may have something for you in the next couple of days. Life has gotten in the way again, lol. Also, now that Dark Raider development has been put on hold, I don't know how much further testing I'm going to do on that ROM beyond your request. At least until its back to being active.

Maybe they changed the default sd cache size. You can do this on any rom provided you're rooted with sd booster available on the market

I dont think so, sd card chace doesnt increase such high. Yes, DR set chace 4096 kb & Holic 1024 as default, but although set @ same level, holic still cannot match DR Value.... It must be something special on DR. But i dont know why

Have you checked to see of the roms your testing on are actually initializing init.d scripts? This could potentially be a culprit if scripts aren't being run.

Long story short, this is a CM7 rom with some tweaks applied.
Feedbacks are welcome.
DISCLAIMER: This ROM comes with NO warranty. If you brick your phone, don't blame me, I'm only experimenting with my phone and sharing the results with you, mates!
The widgets in the screenshots are Fancy Widgets (clock & weather) and Android Pro Widgets (Google Reader widget). These are non-free apps and are NOT included in this ROM
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
- BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP your actual rom and your data before installing anything!!!!!!
- Your bootloader must be UNLOCKED
- I assume you have CWM recovery installed on your phone. If not, read one of the excellent tutorials on this site and install it. (Remember to choose one of the latest CWM because this is a Rom with EXT4 filesystem)
- Copy the file you have downloaded "as is" (don't try to extract the files contained in the .zip archive!) in the root directory of your SD Card.
- Boot in CWM, select "Install zip from SD Card", then choose the .zip archive you have previously copied and wait until the process ends.
- Reboot your device and enjoy your new rom.

P.S. This rom does not wipe your phone (see changelog for exceptions), but depending on the Rom you actually have on your device, you'll need to wipe /data and /cache to make things work at best. Anyway, my personal advice is to backup all your data before installing a new Rom!!!

BTW Topo, it seems to be a great job, what do you suggest to wipe if I come from CM7 stable? Only cache and dalvik?

Coming from cm7 you can avoid wiping /data. So, it's safe to wipe only dalvik and cache

Try cm7 official only with that kernel and you'll see that benchmarks aren't that good!

Where'd you get faux's CM7 026 kernel? He hasn't posted it yet anywhere.
