I uploaded somthing I thought would change my login screen via recovery area.
I am stuck on Dual Core Screen....For some reason I only get The default recovery now.... Like it installed it as a rom and deleted all other files or somthing.... '
(I am a noob)
I can press Volume UP and DOWN + power to get the menu.
Then I press Recovery, IT opens the wrong one not the ClockWorks, Then I plus Volume Buttons Again to open a menu
Now I have
>Reboot System Now (done it)
>Apply Update from sdcard (What can this do?)
>wipe date/factory reset (Done IT)
>Wipe Ceche Pertition (done)

W/o high battery your screwed, you can't charge it when its bricked your best bet is to go to verizon and get a new battery, and dont put it in til you are able to use rsd, then use rsd to unbrick

SHIITTTTT!!!! I am broke can I put somthing on the SD card. then do the update thing. Should I unplug is there 0% chance?
I don't know if that will work, I would say it will but I doubt it being that I think that the stock recovery checks the signatures of the zips? Im not sure tho. The same exact thing happened to me but I was able to sneak one from verizon by saying that my phone messed up from an update, and he swapped batteries trying to restore, then he gave up and left me the battery with it more than halfway charged. Lol im 17 and without money, just got lucky I know how ya feel. With a low battery no chance. But there is something if you're nifty with wires, ill post the link for ya

So I think my phone may be dead. I decided to Odin 1-click to Eclair from Cognition beta 1. My phone started, made it to rfs and then froze. The phone will not boot, recognize usb, charge, anything.
Does Eclair one click flash primary and secondary bootloaders? I know without them ordering a jig is useless. I have an upgrade and I can get a new phone but I would much rather fix my captivate. Any help guys?

I have odin'd back to stock from Cog 5 without problem but if you used the odin with the three button fix, you are screwed. the 3 button fix odin will mix bootloaders since it only loads one froyo/eclair bootloader.

Alright, I finally have time to sit at the computer.
The phone was running Cognition 5Beta1.
I did not use ODIN 1-click. I used ODIN3 v1.0, placed pit.pit in the pit, placed PDA in the PDA, Connected the phone and held the vol bumper. Phone booted into download and connected as COM4. (JF7 software) I clicked start, the phone made it all the way to RFS, the green bar made it approx 20% across and then the bump, the progress bar froze and would not continue any further. Now phone will not respond to any button. However, the battery was warm when I left it on the charger all night.
Doesn't the phone need the primary bootloader for charging?
I made the $1 JIG and failed. I do not have steady hands though. I'm pretty sure the phone needs JTAG but just wanted to sit and type everything out to make sure. I figured if sbl.bin completed that I would have a bootloader.
To answer my own question, my phone now has mismatched bootloaders and needs JTAG. Looks like it will be sent off soon.

Yeah That happened to me. Had GB loaders and went back to stock using JF6 secure. However I checked for an OTA update and there was one. So being the experimental type I downloaded it and while it was installing it failed halfway and complete Brick.....I realized soon afterwards my mistake. A few days and $50 later MobileTech sent me back a stock fixed device. Well worth it.
Last night I tried to use ODIN 3 1.3 to go back to stock out of a bootloop and since I have a new model captivate it doesn't play nice with 1.3. Got the infamous blackout. Thought I bricked again but soon after the phone-PC image appeared and I knew there was hope.
Used the JIG and ODIN3 1.8
to flash stock and reflashed my ROM.
Looking for an alternative to Continuum. seems to get laggy after a week or so. With an SGS 2 on the way I may go back to Froyo on this one or COG beta 5

Are you sure? Read AdamOutler's thread on the one click unbrick. Its possible you trashed a different file that is causing the black screen.

I tried the one click unbrick. Adam is doing some awesome work there. It will help a lot of people. Unfortunately, I was not one of them.
I looked at the flashing order and traced to where my flash failed. I only flashed one bootloader. A gingerbread/eclair mix doesn't boot, Haha.
It was also a pleasure talking to you as well. I've also decided one thing, I'm ditching this Atrix when my Captivate is fixed. It's a really awesome phone but I can't stand not having an AMOLED. Looks like I'll be waiting on the Galaxy S II to make it over.

It may sound silly, but i encountered the same problem today.
Disconnected my usb when working with odin and got permanently bricked.
Phone did not turn on, no indicator of charging, freaked out..
All i did was kept my mobile for charging for 20 mins even though it did not display that battery bar, disconnected from power supply, took out sim, ext sd, and removed the battery for 1 min and put it back and tried out the two button download mode, and done, my phone went into download mode, and then recovered everything back..
I know it sounds silly, but maybe of some help...

Well, last night my NS4 was bricked... Running Rasbean + trinity 109 I was performing an antutu benchmark and the device just powered off. Could not get it back on and only shows the red led. Tried everything that was available on the net (fastboot, flash stock images, 312321 button combinations etc.). I'm going to set up an RMA and already spoke to a Google rep. Since I ordered through a friend in the UK the RMA must ship there. Won't be a problem. Time to relock the bootloader and send that brick away
Congrats.
Btw. most people fixed it with just leaving it charging for a while and then rebooting.

Damn, thats a shame.
Wasn't a solution available a few weeks ago, when someone posted a video of releasing the battery a bit and the red light disappeared and the phone started working again.
U can try to open the phone up and disconnect the battery then reconnect it. This is how some people got theirs to work again.

Was trying to do that, but the back is more difficult to open as stated in a few posts. Trust me, I went to a music store to get guitar picks and the special screwdrivers I'm just not taking a rist damaging the phone trying to yank of the back (although I was trying the whole day!)

If it won't boot after trying almost everything I guess so! I can only flash things with fastboot. Booting won't work..
if fastboot works, it should be fine... system/data/boot/recovery are all flashable. fastboot boot recovery.img and reflash rasbean? after you flash stock images it just hangs at the google screen? i doubt it's bricked

This exact same thing happened to me. I was on CodefireX with franco.Kernel and I was running an Antutu benchmark and it just powered off to a red blinking LED.
I too tried everything but I couldn't get it into recovery or fastboot.
I ended up just sending it back to T-Mobile (one year warranty) without locking the bootloader again for a replacement.
I'll never run a benchmark again.

Hello
My dads Droid 4 is rooted running JB. I have safe strap installed. One day he took the phone out of his pocket and the screen was off. He gave me the phone to work on but I still cannot get it to boot. It turns on when the wall charger is plugged into it but comes up with either 5%-100% battery or a question mark within a battery. I can sometimes get it to boot into safe strap but that's it. I was wondering if anybody has any insight of what is wrong or knows how they can help me fix this issue. Thanks for reading!!
Sorry but looks like you'll need to do this the painful way

You'll have to SBF back to stock JB. I think you have the same problem my old LG Ally had. It's a random softbrick, unless I'm wrong. The cure is to SBF back to stock JB using a Windows machine.

Ah I see, I suppose you'll need a Motorola factory cable attachment from Team Black Hat. I made a factory cable myself with the aid of a friend who knew how to solder, but it was a little unnerving - if we messed up, would have fried the phone and computer. Anyway, get the attachment, and it should charge fine from the compute, plus you'll be able to SBF.

Thanks for the recommendation, but one point that I need to clarify is that the TBH Factory Adapter or cable will not charge the device at all.
It bypasses the battery and charging circuit altogether and powers the device directly from the USB.
This is an important distinction to make and it means that the device will always power on and boot no matter what, with or without a battery, and allow you to flash it with RSD Lite or fastboot or manually fix whatever problem was preventing it from booting and charging normally.
Then, once fixed, it will be able to boot and charge properly.
It will never charge when the factory cable/adapter is attached and for non removable battery devices like the D4 it will actually immediately power off the device when the USB cable is disconnected.
Good luck with your phone and congrats on fixing it yourself.
We think the adapters are a much safer and inexpensive solution for most users and believe everyone who mods their Motorola device should have one...before the need arises to actually use it!
So I made a cable and sbf the phone...still comes up with the battery with the X in the middle... Guessing its the battery that's bad? Not too sure

I made a Frankenstein cable that will charge it via the inductive charging pins... came back a few hours later to see it was charged... so there's the back story... now my issue it will not recognize the sim card says no service no sim card... so I switch back to stock (i was on avatar) same on stock no service no sim... but the stock reboots like every 2-20 mins never the same time frame... avatar it'll go all day with out a reboot... I get my new phone in 2 days but I go back to work tomorrow and need a phone... I have fr the stock ROM, put the sim in a different phone it does work... Put a different sim in mine it did not.... On avatar I Swapped sims, fr full wipe and reflash ROM fixed permissions... I am really at a lose here... I thank you kindly for any in put..

Try holding it under a BRIGHT light and holding power or power+Vol down.
Sometimes, the only thing to do is to wait until it dies, though...
EDIT: I am actually serious, the bright light trick is an actual feature of the phone.
Bright light won't fix this. You basically erased everything off your phone, including the os. I don't have time to type out all the steps but Google side loading HTC one xda, or something to that effect and you should find what your looking for.

Here this will help you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40341536 download that tool and under extras you will see the side load, first use the tool to install HTC drivers and then connect your phone while it's turned on, click flash recovery, then boot into recovery, click side load Rom, of course you have to have one downloaded on your computer.

Get owned, son! Haha jk jk.
And remember, ALWAYS wipe all data BEFORE flashing a ROM. It's intuitive enough. If you don't know what you're doing, read or run far, far away. Any other choice could cost you.
And once you wipe all data REMEMBER to flash a ROM before rebooting! Otherwise you'll have a soft brick!
EDIT: Just realized those two reminders are two sides of the same coin. And remember: There is always hope if your phone does ANYTHING at all.
Oh cool glad it's working, I guess I got owned Oh noes my interwebs!
