Also, as said, if you're still using the stock kernel, you'll need to flash it apart.
Means you need to download X8Gesture (Synaptics) or AX8MT (Cypress).
Install tool box you have a detection phase if you have synaptics or Cypress. Search the forum for it.

how about if use kernel dx?
I got multitouch on my GingerDX v20. Install Flashtool to your PC. And in nstall the GordonsGate drivers. You can read how to unlock it on this specific thread.
You will need the alfs kernel for the multitouch Here it is follow the instructions there.
You will have to follow the instructions in every thread, if you dont you will brick your phone and we wouldnt want that

The first time I flashed the rom with xrecovery because I followed a Italian guide.
Now I want to flash it again but I want the exact instructions.
Can someone add me on facebook, msn or gtalk to talk quietly? Or explain me step by step how to correctly flash the rom with the multy touch?

im suggest you to follow english guide.because it more easy actually.
if u cant understand the word.just use google translate.
it will help u.
have you made it work?
Just install x8gesture.ko
Thether wifi and multitouch on X8.
Hi guys, I've just load GingerDX v23 over my Floyo.
It seems work fine, but no multitouch nor Wifi Thether work.
Does it probably depend on kernel? ([email protected]#1)
I think I've to load "update_GingerDX-Alfs-addon.zip" with CWM recovery. Is it wright? menu: "apply update from sdcard"?
Thanks a lot!

I'm new here, I found your page cause I am very interested in the update of my xperia x8, I have to say, you're awesome, from 2.1 to 2.3, and I get this ROM "GingerDX v022 2.3.7", i've already checked my kernel and base band, they're both updated,
Well, my trouble is that when I did all the process with xRecovery step by step, after that, I installed the ROM and it got stocked in the gingerdx logo with a short sound and It won't start now, I dont know what to do, otherwise I'm gonna find another ROM that works better than this one,
It would be nice that you can help me with this or recommend me a better one

Can someone rename the topic name as "Some questions about the Xperia X8 modding"? (if it is possible)
Thank you another time.
So, it's the first time that I try to do modding on an Android smartphone and I have mainly two question. One of my friends gives me as a gift this telephone with a GingerDX v022 and now that it is mine, I want to flash a more updated ROM.
Here are the my doubts:
1) A lot of ROMs requires a latest firmware with a Baseband (i think) to flash the ROM itself.
For example, and just for example, the MiniCM9 requires the
Latest 2.1.1.A.0.6/2.1.1.C.0.0 SE firmware / Baseband: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015

What is this?
2) How can I see if my bootloader is unlocked? If my device has already a GingerDX v022, should the bootloader be already unlocked?
Thank you. :fingers-crossed:

Hi! I'm new in here and I don't really know what I'm doing....
Here's the thing: I want to install GingerDX to my SEX8, I follow every step in the installation guide:
- I downloaded the rom "something Shakira" I think
- I copied it in the SD card
- I ran CWM and wiped everything and installed the rom from zip file
but when i reboot the phone it gets stucked in the Sony Ericsson logo screen.
I fixed it with PCC and now I have Eclaire again. I've done this twice and with the same result.
I don't know ANYTHING about alf's or flashing or anything else so....
Could you please please help me posting a guide step by step or tell me whats wrong with what I am doing??? if I have to flash or something else tell me how to do it because like I said I don't know anything about this! Please! I would appreciate it a LOT!
And PLEASE don't reply me saying that I have to Google it because i searched everywhere but unsuccessful....
Thank You!!!!

Hey guys!
Found my old xperia x8 and i wanted to flash a new rom.
rooted it and installed xrecovery.
do i need to unlock the bootloader to flash a new rom?
Or just for the kernel?
you unlock your bootloader to flash a custom kernel. Some roms are for stock kernel and others are for customs. What rom do you want to install? Also you maybe will need cwm and not xrecovery.

If people want to install ROM they need to use custom recovery. Only kernel that is supported now is CoCore, so 99% of chance is that they will already have CoCore.

If so,I think you need to extract it.Better ask CoCafe if he gave you the permission or look for a guide.

You can use this file type as well... Check updater script of any existing rom which has a kernel of same for type... And copy the same line... But first ask for permission from the cook of the rom...
Or extract your kernel and search for mount points for kernel and use it..
