What is the best ROM for the Xperia X8? - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
this is the first I post here and i am doing it to have a better point of view of the hundreds ROMs available for this device.
My X8 actually has a GingerDX v022 but i want to update it.
What ROM do you suggest to me?
I want a fast, not so bugged, based on the major Android version possible, ROM.
Thank you!

Why you did not try Prime HD 10 Rom based od CM 7.2..Its very clean rom , without any unnused apps etc..
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480404&highlight=prime+hd
P.S: I think that, you must unlock bootloader for that Rom, because reqiured Unlocked Bootloaded, with Custom kernel like nAn, or alfs..

It's okay. I would not close this thread. According to the guide, you can reuse this thread if you want to ask other question. So, you don't have to create a new thread if you want to ask other question.

Can someone rename the topic name as "Some questions about the Xperia X8 modding"? (if it is possible)
Thank you another time.
So, it's the first time that I try to do modding on an Android smartphone and I have mainly two question. One of my friends gives me as a gift this telephone with a GingerDX v022 and now that it is mine, I want to flash a more updated ROM.
Here are the my doubts:
1) A lot of ROMs requires a latest firmware with a Baseband (i think) to flash the ROM itself.
For example, and just for example, the MiniCM9 requires the
Latest 2.1.1.A.0.6/2.1.1.C.0.0 SE firmware / Baseband: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015

What is this?
2) How can I see if my bootloader is unlocked? If my device has already a GingerDX v022, should the bootloader be already unlocked?
Thank you. :fingers-crossed:

GINGERDX v20 should NOT be installed with xRecovery!!!!!!

Also, as said, if you're still using the stock kernel, you'll need to flash it apart.
Means you need to download X8Gesture (Synaptics) or AX8MT (Cypress).
Install tool box you have a detection phase if you have synaptics or Cypress. Search the forum for it.

how about if use kernel dx?
I got multitouch on my GingerDX v20. Install Flashtool to your PC. And in nstall the GordonsGate drivers. You can read how to unlock it on this specific thread.
You will need the alfs kernel for the multitouch Here it is follow the instructions there.
You will have to follow the instructions in every thread, if you dont you will brick your phone and we wouldnt want that

if u cant understand the word.just use google translate.

have you made it work?
Just install x8gesture.ko
Thether wifi and multitouch on X8.
Hi guys, I've just load GingerDX v23 over my Floyo.
It seems work fine, but no multitouch nor Wifi Thether work.
Does it probably depend on kernel? ([email protected]#1)
I think I've to load "update_GingerDX-Alfs-addon.zip" with CWM recovery. Is it wright? menu: "apply update from sdcard"?
Thanks a lot!

[Q] Can someone help me please(xperia x8 crisis)??

Hi guys!!
I'm new here, I found your page cause I am very interested in the update of my xperia x8, I have to say, you're awesome, from 2.1 to 2.3, and I get this ROM "GingerDX v022 2.3.7", i've already checked my kernel and base band, they're both updated,
Well, my trouble is that when I did all the process with xRecovery step by step, after that, I installed the ROM and it got stocked in the gingerdx logo with a short sound and It won't start now, I dont know what to do, otherwise I'm gonna find another ROM that works better than this one,
It would be nice that you can help me with this or recommend me a better one
Thanks!!

He said 2.3.3 frimware
I think its not possible for x8
X10's stock roms are heavy weight so its not flashable!
X8's bootloader may prevent flashing x10's kernel! (I think around 10% of being successful)
U can try but I don't think this will work
-Maybe he was minding about x10mini's friware?

Thank you again willi9070! Finaly I decided for I9070XXLQE, can't say why, i guess I9070DXAMD1 gave me a little of fear for locales complications, but who knows.
Have to say it works like a charm on my i9070, even more, took my instaled apps and I wasn't forced to do factory reset (I made it anyways).
I like Samsung for this kind of things, it's hard to think migrate to other manufacturer like Motorola. I guess may be HTC, but mean while Samsung keep openmind and close to developers I will remain using his products.
:good:
I use it...nothing to say, just like other JB rom

Refer to this link. There are different ROMs for different users, they can' t start a rumble and go for the best. One man's ROM is another man's paperweight.

This is because there is always a person asking for best rom/kernel in here, which is tiring to manage. I suggest you do what I did, root your stock phone and use it for a while. In the meantime, read through threads on problems encountered by other users and take note of their solutions. There are plenty of threads on how to change from custom and stock ROMs, these are the ones you are more likely to receive support from.

If you don't want to brick your device and don't want to care to READ then please stay on a stock rom.
