Sorry dude, it has to be a micro SD card + reader. 1GB or less is preferred, but 2GB also might work.
I believe u can do it in yr laptop
Use a microsd to sd card adaptor ( those small things that sometimes come with it when u purchase a new microsd card
Use any device that can act as usb mass storage and read capabilities like an old phone that has its own power source but u need the usb to micro usb tip connector
Question
i have sd card + reader .. but dont have android phone or wm5.. is it possible to create goldcard without this stuff ?
yes,you need a Y cable

A standard SD card works as well. doesn't have to be a MicroSD
A USB drive is possible if u have a female to female coupler
but u still need the y cable

GoldCard and Homemade Y cable
I made my own y cable and used my Laptops sd card reader to make my goldcard.Used a 1gb sandisk card. There is tons of tutorials on Xda to help you along.Good luck.btw,my y cable has two female and one male ends.

I have insert microsd on adapter, on a cel, on a notebook, but nothing has can format the memory. The device is not supported. Why?
What kind of card and card reader you're using? If it is microSDHC card, make sure it is FULLY compatible w/ the card reader.
My laptop and peripheral readers do not accept a microSD of any size above 2 gigs. All have been updated to no avail.
The latest 8 gig Sandisk microSD will format by using the Sandisk "MicroMate USB" read/writer plugged into a USB 2 port. I need to use the adapter (microSD to SD) as well as their MicroMate adapter.
Mack
Mack5305 you have reason! You are the best! I have insert my microsd of 4gb in the sd adapter and next i have inserted the sd adapter in MicroMate adapter and the card is read correctly!! I have format her!! Very thanks!!
I got both of them for 99 cents each, now I can plug my micro sd card in, and mount it with StickMount by Chainfire in the Market.
Im sure most of you have the OTG cable, here is the MicroSD USB Adapter for 99 cents.

There is no usb flash drive with a microsd connector ?
Is there an adapter that will allow me to plug an SD card into the micro slot? I see a ton of usb --> micro short cables but I can't seem to find one that will fit my needs. I have an SD --> usb, I suppose i'll just have to use it if I can't find SD ---> Micro.
Thanks
Try it and tell...
You should try this out. Use a USB to OTG cable, and then run a USB to SD Card adapter.
If it works, then hell yes.
Try it out, then post another thread for if it works or not.

I use 32gig micro sdcard with adapter every day. some 64 gig flash drives work fine also
I think it just has to be fat32 format
Yes, I said it and I am looking for it. One end needs to be USB C that connects to the phone. The USB C connector needs to be connected to a Micro SD Card reader using a super thin ribbon cable like they use to plug the battery of the phone into it's circuit board or a laptop keyboard to its motherboard and work sort of like and OTG cable, only it has a card reader on the end.
Why? I want to mount a second Micro SDXC Card semi-permanently to the phone (I can always unplug the card reader) but since the Emperor Edition is NOT being sold in the USA, I am going for 64GB internal memory, 256Gb in the internal card slot and 256Gb through the USB C connection. (When larger cards are available, then they will be replaced).
The reason for the ribbon cable, is I want this as small and flat as possible, no casing or housing around the external card reader so I can slip my case over it and it will be protected by the phone's case.
64gb + 256gb + 256gb = 576gb of space
64gb +400gb + 400gb = 864gb of space (New Sandisk memory cards)
To bad they haven't released the 2TB MicroSDXC memory cards yet..... and yes, I will fill the space. Don't worry.
Did you find one?
