Looking for BackLight Notifications (BLN) for Note? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Any change to get BLN enabled for Galaxy Note?
Please advice...

I'm running NoLed at the moment. Seems to be an OK solution (for me).

so if there is notification, display stays on all the time? or you use BLINK method?
i had NoLed pop up last night that i noticed only in the morning and it was on for 4.5 hours. it ate up 40% of battery (or 88% battery usage by display)

there is bled module, but it is not working on all custom rom... look at here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389394&highlight=bled

[Q] LED Notification CM10 i9000m

Hi,
Im running semaphore's 2.6.5 JB kernel with CM10 stable rom. The issue is that when i receive notification the notification led/capacitive button light works. The problem is that it wont turn off until i turn the screen on myself. I feel that it drains the battery. So is it possible to change the duration of the led notification, like if i want the led to turn off after say 15mins

From what I've seen there is no such feature. I dont quite get the point of such notification if it would turn itself off But seriously, it shouldn't be draining the battery much. Have you used Better Battery Stats to maybe find the real culprit?

[Q] Q> cm11 bugs.

Yesterday i installed cm11 on my phone then i notice that when someone texted me bln lights goes steady and its not blinking. And before i sleep my battery is 69%, i set the alarm to 6:30am and then suddenly i woke up 6:15am and i waited atleast 20mins to hear my phone alarm but it did'nt so i decided to check my phone. This time im frustrated because the battery was drained. Does anyone experienced this in cm11?

There are lots of possibilties how you can drain your battery quickly. 2 examples which I have experienced:
- GPS on? -> set location option to energy saving or turn it off
- continous sync with google or other accounts -> deactivate it

NoLED confirmed working

I need some sort of on screen notification or multicolored led and the ambient display is not working correctly ( I think I may have covered the sensor with my glass screen protector) so good old trusty NoLED works great just want to let you guys know...
Here's a link for anyone that is interested https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.led.notify

Thanks. Good to know. I remember using it on something a long time ago. Maybe with a Fascinate or some such.

Does the nexus 6 not have a standard notification LED?
There's an LED behind the top speaker grille according to people on reddit. Can't confirm yet, my Nexus 6 arrives on Friday (before 8p per FedEx)
Yes there are reports of a led behind the speaker but until someone hacks it NoLED is perfect for me... Just have to keep track of battery to make sure its not draining it too much

the LED behind the speaker works fine with the full version of Lightflow. there is a thread in general with the instructions for setup. No blinking yet.
LightFlow
If you are rooted and have install light flow it works flawlessly. Its actually really bright even though its behind a grill.

Neled has been giving me issues for some reason. I've been using it for years on multiple devices with the exact same configuration. However, on this device it completely shuts off as soon as the battery gets to 100%.

Shuts off and doesn't work? Do you have it set to auto start?

Hmm.. Mine shows a battery charge notification dancing around with the other NoLed icons on the screen. Starts at 100% & then starts down.... 97, 95, then starts back back up to 100% and keeps Cylcling this way. Doesn't shut off by itself.

So yours counts down till fully charged? Mine will show the charging % but goes up until it hits 100. I have it set to stop showing charging percent once it hits 100%. However, the whole thing turns off when it hits 100 instead. Its really odd.

I have it set to turn on at 10pm and off at 830am. It does work and comes on at 10 like it should but like I previously mentioned, for some reason once the charging rate hits 100% it just shuts down and I have a black screen.

Did you recently root your phone? Mine has been a little off since I rooted. At times it will be active to where if I touch the screen it will bring up the capacitive button but the notification icon won't show it'll just be a black screen

I rooted and unlocked immediately when I got the phone before I installed anything.
Well I guess you could just set it to not shut off at 100 percent.. Your phone will still be on the charger so its not going to drain your battery

I can try that and see if that works. Only thing is, in that setting, it's only supposed to stop showing the charge %, not all indications including time.

After decryption the behavior seems to have changed slightly. Found that a battery Monitor app that turns on screen at 100% charge was causing NoLed to stop. Another app that supposedly helps battery life was turning off accessibility for NoLed, Pie, & a couple of others. Something I will need to sort out in the coming weeks.
What is the bigger battery drain, Light Flow or Ambient Display? With Light Flow the light stays on CONSTANTLY if you only have one notification. It doesn't blink it just stays on. With Ambient Display it pulses on and off. If Light Flow actually gave us the ability to set a flash rate of the lights it would be awesome.
What do you think, which is a greater drain on the battery, a flashing screen or a solid light?
Yes the nexus 6 does have a led under the speaker grill. You just need to be rooted and light flow pro I get all my notification that way

Samsung Galaxy A40 - battery life here

I'm user of A40 2 days now. Just about battery and my settings. Yesterday unplug my phone 100% at 5.30am then Google maps for navigation 2.5 hrs, YouTube 0.5hr, Chrome 1hr plus Facebook, messanger, a bit of calls and txt, playing with themes and customize homescreen. At 3.30am with 28% battery left charging again. So in total 22hrs usage with 4hrs 50mins screen on time and 28% battery left is very good imho. My settings. I use package disabler pro for all Samsung bloatware, no fingerprint sensor and no double tap to wake. Mobile data on, wifi on, and gps always on. NFC off, bluetooth off.
Battery update after 2nd full charge. Screenshots

Almost 5 6 hours of SOT here
A40 forum
Why there isn A40 forum in XDA?
I consider to buy the phone but the lack of support here in XDA is making me step back. Would have gotten the A50 if display wasn't so pixelated....
Exactly, we should have an a40 forum!
I believe there are plenty of A40 users who want to share opinion and probably port features or try custom ROMs.
Any ideas on how to make XDA put it on forums? Or are there any telegram channels for example?

In this model we dont have AOD, and the third partys apps that are similar consume battery. glimplse only turn on the screen to see notifications like iphone.
Yes is a great battery number it amaze me cause the compact size, the weight and the price with quick charge 4.0!!!
Great news that your phone continue to have updates :good:
Is it better to Turn on the quick Charge function or is it better for the battery to Turn it Off and Charge slowly?
I heard often in Last Time that quick Charge would not be good for a Long battery Life?
Hiii has anyone tried to connect and eduroam wifi? Is the one that is in the universities. To connect to this wifi i need to change advanced settings in wifi section in the galaxy a40, but every time i try to change some setting the settigns app stop working. Can someone try to change for example EAP method? When I try that it stop working and I dont know what can i do.
Thanks
Adaptive brightness battery usage
Hi guys! I bought this phone a couple of weeks ago but I'm having trouble with adaptive brightness. It doesn't work properly, I always need to adjust it manually and also have a look at the battery usage, it's insane! Any ideas about what could be causing this and how to fix it?

Question Critical battery drain

Hello
Yesterday i had the phone around 65% at 01h00, in the next morning (around 7h20) i wake up to find the phone at 1%, no wifi/4G/bluetooth/GPS...etc was active, even the battery saver was ON. As you can see in the screenshots, android system drain battery around 400% !!! what's up with this behavior ? happened the 1st time last week (49% drained in 8 hours) the problem seems gone after i fully charge and than reboot, but still today happened.
The phone is almost 1 month old.
The 1st few days, i disconnected the phone from charging at 100% and went to sleep, after 6 hours battery is drained by 6% without doing nothing. is this normal ??? screenshot
ROM : crDroid 8, latest magisk installed+microg+magiskhide props config and fdroid/aurora modules installed.
Thanks
which rom are u using now? stock or custom?

clearly something is going wrong, I would suggest factory resetting, and optionally reinstalling your custom rom.

well, that must a bug related to optimiztion of the rom, report it to the rom mantainer
Exactly what happened to me same ROM same phone but I didn't root it. it drained from 54% to 6% during the night, next day I switched the ambient display off and the battery became better but so far I am also looking for solutions to make it similar to miui
I feel the battery is draining so much fast when I start using the apps unlike miui but the room is also great and fast , with my light use it gave me 1 day of use and remaining of 10% with 120 fps (3.3%/hr screen on and 0.6%/h screen off )
today I will test it with 60fps

Wow, 3.3%/hr is seriously impressive for active drain, especially for 120hz. Can I ask you if you did anything special / your exact setup? I installed Ricedroid 8.0 + Sleepy kernel and applied the GMS Doze module + Naptime (as suggested by a kind poster on here), and this allowed my idle drain to go down to 0.2%/hr, but my active drain is still struggling a bit.

Ohh the 3.3%/hr is combined use, which takes account of both active drain and idle drain (through what I guess is some weighted average). But honestly, 6.7%/hr (or even 7.8%/hr tbh) is still pretty damn impressive, so I'll thank you for letting me know! Now I wanna flash crDroid haha.

I spent 1 day and half trying all custom roms in this forum because for long time I was on miui and didn't know how custom ROMs are now , after trying I found that all custom ROMs either are pixel flavored or very basic without any customization and I settled with Cr-droid because it offers best of both worlds less google and good customization options.
now regarding the battery after few days of using on 60 fps I have combined use 2.4%/hr and 0.8% screen off but I still feel that it drains fast during my usage compared to Miui , I have only used naptime for optimization do you advise me to add anything else for non-rooted device ?

MIUI very often switches off alarm (not clock alarm) and wakeups -- it's known for long. Your notifications often comes late when using MIUI. In real life situation, however you might never notice it, but it's there. It also sets higher priorities to known messaging, social media apps to receive notification/action faster than any apps that are outside "the list".
It's a good trade off for battery life compares to stock AOSP or lineage which put every apps on generic list of "optimized battery" based on your pattern. It will took a long before the pattern is useable.

I'm not sure about your possibilities on a non-rooted device honestly. I think Naptime can work on a non-rooted device, if you grant a few permissions through ADB first (if I remember correctly, the app itself will guide you through the process). Be mindful of which apps you're restricting though, as Naptime will likely cause delays in the arrival of notifications. You can whitelist apps through Android's battery restriction screen.

Hmm I don't have any further tips honestly, not about these specific things. In my case, using Naptime already improves battery life by a ton over the course of a day (not wasting entire %s in hours of idle time is already huge).
Try and see if greenify or its replacements helps.
