overclock Rogers HTC Raider - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

i'm going to be rooting my Raider this weekend so that i can overclock it, but i'm curious as to what safe speeds i can crank it up to without damaging my device.
i know that the original model of the raider supports up to 1.5Ghz, so i'm wondering if leaving it at 1.5 will impact it any.
Also, what is a safe speed above 1.5 that can be maintained?

the only negative to clocking it to 1.5 is the battery life. HTC underclocked it to 1.2 to save battery life. Its the same processor as the tmobile gs2/skyrocket so check out what they overclocked theirs to.

the raider/vivid has a different processor than the s2... the raider/vivid has a snapdragon s3, while the s2 has a exynos 4210, and the skyrocket has a snapdragon s3
the exynos 4210 is one of the best processors out there right now. if you meant the skyrocket and the raider/vivid have the same, then sure. i believe the atrix has the same too and is at 1.5ghz
the exynos 4210 has been oced over 2ghz before... but obviously you would run that... just for a benchmark... if that

the T-Mobile GS2 and the Skyrocket share the same processor, just as he stated already. he never said the international or AT&T variant

Oh. I didn't know that. Sorry for being wrong

You have to re-lock the bootloader in order to return to stock. All the information is included in the Super Guide in the Dev section.

[Q] Dont see a FAQ thread.. And i have a few questions

Ok got a few questions..
First off i know it can be unlocked and use a att sim card.. being on att this would be nice.. BUT i know att and t-mobile use SOME of the same band for 3g.. does the t-mobile version use both the att band? (850 and 1900 i think)
second SHOULD i get a streak 7 i currently have a nook color running CM7 and its nice.. little slow tho... running at 1ghz.. the streak is a dual core @1ghz.. is it overclockable when running Honeycomb yet? how high has it been overclocked in general (stable)
i'm seeing alot of advertisments online about unlocking.. and wanting to posably use it on att is there a free method to unlock? i know on my samsung captivate you can pay for it.. but there is also a free app that will do it.. anything the same here?
is there anything better for around the same priced (used) @~$200?
Thanks in advance.

You will have EDGE data speed on AT&T. The Dell Streak 7 is very much faster than the Nook Color, all of the time, NC overclocked or not. I have one too, and haven't used it more than 30 minutes since getting the DS7 two months ago. As for unlocking, dunno.

You can try to call DELL and get it unlocked, if they won't give you the code, then it'll cost you $90 at unlockdellstreak.com
you can overclock but only running HoneyStreak release 7 which is not available here on xda, I'll letcha look for it since you didn't search for the FAQ you say isn't here, well there is no FAQ but your questions have been answered a hundred times, use the search function
I have my OC'd on R7, at 1.5ghz and its pretty stable. I've bumped it to 1.6, 1.7, and 1.8 but they don't stay very stable and in fact, 1.7 and 1.8 cause WORSE performance.

[Q] What SG Tab to buy???

I really want to buy a tablet but all the tabs I have checked into here in the US all have the Radio disabled so you cant use it as a cell phone. Really like the 7" or the 8.9" because the phone reason. And dual core would be nice. Can any one give me some info on what I should buy.?. The only one that I could really see working was the P1000... But not a dual core. Went from the HTC Inspire 4G rooted and Running Android Revolution HD and loved it but have had the Samsung Galaxy S II for the past 2 weeks and rooted it and by far can see a difference in the dual core. So if anyone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. Oh yeah on AT&T

Not certain since I don't live in the States, but I'm pretty sure you're out of luck. I don't think any of Samsung's new Tab line is available with US phone service-compatible radios. As far as I'm aware, most of the lineup doesnt even include the hardware necessary for phone calls, so I don't think you'll be able to. You might want to watch for specs on the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus (The P1000's spiritual successor) in case it comes with that functionality, but I don't think it will.
If you get an AT&T branded Samsung Galaxy 7 ( as many of us on here have).
There is a thread on here to guide you thru the steps to turn on the phone section.
I've done it. With the AT&T sim card from my Atrix. Inserted in this tab. Everything works!
Phone calls, txts messages web surf all simotainiously.
I love it.
Its not dual core though as you want, . But this thing is sweet. I bought my from craigslist.
Good luck.
Thanks I will check into that thread... since with cell phones once you root, it should work with any carrier that uses sim cards. Right? Is it the same with the tabs? I know some of the other carriers have dual core tabs, as long as they use sim cards will they work the same way? and with yours how does it run without the dual core? I read some reviews that there is slot of hesitation in the transitions.

The 7310 is a WiFi only unit. Good development support thanks to the strong commonality with the rest of the 10.1/8.9 line.
The i957 has a LTE (LTE/HSPA/GSM) modem and WiFi, and a 1.5GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor. It's a much better unit in my opinion, but there's not as much development support because it's a unique, very low sales volume unit.
Thanks. I picked up the i957 just so I can have LTE/GSM if I decide I want it. Bummer about no development though.

[Q] MicroCell and G-Note?s

I am thinking of switching from the Samsung Infuse 4g to the note. I have a couple of questions for current owner who don't mind indulging me.
1st... I am having a ton of trouble with my Infuse and the Microcell. Biggest issue is SMS and mms both fail to send about 65% of the time.
Does anyone use their Note with a Microcell and have you had any issues?
2nd... I understand there are several versions of the Note... an International Version and an ATT version.
What is the difference ?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Just my 2¢
So nobody is using their gnote with a Microcell? Really?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
it's impossible as the currently released version isn't an AT&T phone and only AT&T phones connect to the MicroCell (I work for AT&T) now unless things changed and now any GSM phone can connect, but I doubt it

To answer your question, the AT&T version has LTE but a Snapdragon processor (faster data, less battery life, slower CPU/GPU for gaming/rendering), the International version does HSPA+ (still very fast data speeds, better battery life, 1.4 GHz Exynos, the fastest CPU/GPU out next to the Tegra 3 with noticeably better performance)

Thanks for the reply....that actually helps too. I will likely get the ATT version.
Pushing this back up now that the ATT version is out. Is anyone using their Note with a Miceocell? If so .. are you having any troubles with sending/receiving SMS or mms?
My Infuse is a joke when it come to texts thru my MicroCell.

[Q] Samsung galaxy Note N7000 or i717?

Hello all,
I have been in the market for a Samsung galaxy note for a while now. I wanted to get the unlocked version of the phone since I am with T-Mobile. Now as I researched a little more about the phone I came to know there are two different versions which are N-7000 and i-717. Also as i came to find out the N-7000 version does not support T-mobile 4g. Most of my other research also came up with a result that everyone recommend N-7000 version over i-717 because of the processor. I personally like the N-7000 because of the center home button.
I came up with this thread where it flash's the radio of the note and I was being told by one of my friend that this will allow you to be able to use it with t-mobile 4g.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1518962
As it says its only for att galaxy note so I am assuming this will not work with the international version of the note or the N-7000 version.
My job requires me to stay on the road most of the time and its really important I have high speed internet on the phone. I am from fort lauderdale, florida.
So my question is-
1. Which version of the phone should I buy?
2. The link posted above will this work with N-7000?
3. Is there any way to work the N-7000 with T-mobile 4g by flashing the radio or anything else?
4. If yes, can any of you please post a step by step instruction on how to make it work. If possible please be elaborate with your steps as I am super dumb when it comes to do hacking and all that.
5. Will the new N-7000 comes with ICS? Does that require any special thing to be done with the phone in order to work with the T-mobile 4g?
I really appreciate all your help in advance. I would be really honored if you guys can respond back as soon as possible.
Thanks
TASVIR
if your job requires fast internet, you should conclude your research and get the i717. The international note won't fit your life style. At this time, it will NOT support tmobile 4g.
Thanks.
But the i717 requires the flashing of the radio and unlocking as well to work with t-mobile 4g? Just like my link on the post mentioned?
you can unlock i717 by buying code online for $25 and about 10mins of time researching and flashing it. It's really easy. I've had i717 for tmobile myself and found out that i dont' need all the time internet. sold it...and got the n7000

So you had i-717 and then you sold it and got the n7000. If you dont mind me asking what made you switch? Is the phone is not worth all this? I am assuming now you are using the n7000 for tmobile's 3g? Hows the speed on that? if the speed is okay would you recommend n7000 over i717 based on the processors of the phones? does your n7000 required any rooting work with tmobile and its internet?
Have you looked around to see if T-Mobile is or will be offering 1900MHz HSDPA+ in your area? The N7000 supports 1900MHz on it's '3G' radio.
I just checked yes they do have 1900MHz in flortlauderdale. FL
Does this means the galaxy note N-7000 will work with t-mobile 3g as soon as I put the sim in the phone?
also
samsung-sgh-i717r-galaxy-note-lte-rogers-wireless from canada and at expansys they are selling it unlocked for 489$
Is this the same as the att galaxy note? with the root will it work with t mobile and its 4g network? I only ask cause this is cheaper than the att version of the note and it is Gnote SGH-i717R instead of Gnote SFH-i717.
This phone is driving me crazier than my ex-girlfriend.
I sold my i717 because I travel a lot oversea and I don't need the LTE feature. I sacrificed that for the better processor and smoothness. Also, I am around wifi most of the time...and I don't use much of internet when I am on the road. Speed wise, it's decent for my use....regular internet, email...and so forth. Not fast...but doable. It fits my life style better. Like I said, you've mentioned that you're on the road a lot that require fast internet access, so I suggested i717. As far as the 1900mhz in your area, don't count on it......you will need to experience it. Call tmobile and find out, or get 1900mhz phone and test it. heck you can even buy the n7000 and try....and if it doesn't work out, sell it and buy the at&t.

Thanks yellowpad. I saw a video on the snapdragon and exynos processor. Bit scary. If with high internet speed does not work because of the processor that would such a shame. I will get the N-7000 and try. I called t-mobile and found out they support 1900 in my area. Its a hit or miss situation. Would you reccomend any site to buy it from? I tried calling expansys for million times as they dont pick up the phone and they say they are #1 in customer satisfaction. LOL
I would just wait a month for the Tmobile version, I believe its coming out the first week of july. unless you dont care about data speeds, then get whatever, but I'd rather wait a few more days and have a fully compatible device in my hands, just my humble input!
As far as i know they have different CPUs and N7000 is supposed to handle hd videos and 3d graphics better. Also, N7000 seems to have better support over here simply because it's more popular.

Thanks for your input. You know I have been researching on that as well from last night. They are saying its coming out on the 11th of July. May be before that or after. Fully compatible with T-mobile network. I would wait for that before I get mine. Only thing that scares me is if it comes with the snapdragon processor. Which is a joke over exynos processor. You can go to youtube and check some of the video's of the differences.
Samsung also said to expect snapdragon processor on all the US bound phones. So at this point i guess we only have to keep our fingers crossed and wait for the best.

Yah the N-7000 comes with exynos processor and i-717 (ATT Version) comes with snapdragon. N-7000 has better processor but low speed data and ATT is high speed data but a very slow and unsophisticated processor (if you compare with the N-7000)... its just up to the customer if they would sacrifices data over processor?? In my case I WANT BOTH...

Does Samsung GT-N7000 (International) work with Tmobile USA 4G?
Hi guys,
So far I have a been reading around and not really find an exact answer.
Let me ask some questions one more time.
1. Can Samsung GT-N7000 (International Version) be flash with Tmobile radio 4G to make it work with Tmobile USA 4G?
2. Anyone using a Working Samsung N7000 flashed Tmobile Radio 4G? If so, which area of USA?
Someone please be kind and advice.
Thanks in advance
