Hi, I'm new in this forum, this is my first post, sorry for my english, i'm working on it, so, expect some bad errors...
Unfortunately it seems to be that my phone has been bricked... From the beginning i used the custom rom Ginger DX with stock kernel, then I decided to change and test the MiniCM of Nobodyatall. So, the first thing I decided to do was change the stock kernel to the custom kernel of naA (naa-08b), then I tried it with Ginger dx, after confirming that the rom and the kernel work, I decided to change the rom to MiniCM. with horrible results, I noticed that the phone did not pass the logo screen of the brand (Sony Ericsson), this means that the bootloader does not work no longer, that makes it impossible for me to change the ROM, thinking that perhaps the kernel generates me all this problem, I decided to change it back to the stock kernel, but without good results ...
I dont know what to do!
things that i noted while i was installing the custom rom:
-it said that i've didin't installed the naA kernel, wich it's not true, because before Install the MiniCM, i've flashed the cellphone with Flashtool, to install the custom kernel (which it worked for me, using gingerDX), so , maybe i didn't installed it right, or even it was never installed, i really don't know...
Please help! thanks a lot for your attention and any kind of help would be awesome...

Wrong! If you still see the Sony Ericsson logo this means your Bootloader and Kernel is still intact. If this wouldn't be the case you would have a hard brick (no lights, no vibration, no screen) on your hands.
To get your phone back into a working state ...
Flash back the ORIGINAL 015 BASEBAND (also includes the Stock Kernel)!
Baseband 015 for the X8 E15i (Flashtool FTF)
Baseband 015 for the X8 E15a (Flashtool FTF)
Do NOT Flash the wrong baseband - otherwise you may have problems connecting to the mobile network.
RELOCK the BOOTLOADER!
Do NOT miss out on the two steps above!
Flash back to Stock and go again from there
Hey! Thank a lot for the answer! It was very fast
so, if my phone is not bricked, that means that it can be fixed! thanx alot... what a relief, i was very scared!
okay, the thing that i've done right now, it's the downgrade of the baseband from 015 to 006 (my model is the E15a)... i noticed that , it's a wong step.. do i have to flash again to the original baseband 015?... i've downgrade it because my idea was to get the phone to the original baseband a kernel that it had when I purchased it, so the next step was, with PC Companion, repair the rom, to get de original one (2.1), the problem is that the pc companion didn't fix the issue because i't said something like " there is no update for your phone"... so, I'm at the beginning of the problem ... again ... :S
in another thread i saw this post made by you...

should i follow it? it will work?

Yes, you need to flash the 015 baseband ... 006 is outdated and does NOT work with any custom ROM you may find around here in the Developer section.

The 006 Baseband (and possibly some 2.0 or 2.1 Stock ROM) may have been the default at the time you bought the phone, but meanwhile the latest ones are Baseband 015 / Stock 2.1.1.C.0.0 (X8 E15a/i) and Baseband 015 / Stock 2.1.1.A.0.46 (W8 E16a/i <-- is there actually such a thing as a E16i? Never saw one). EDIT: Don't expect to see any more updates from Sony Ericsson, the software update support for the W8/X8 phone is already discontinued for quite some time.
Anyhow, the "There is no update" message is a result of your alterations. Once you're running a custom Kernel or trying to restore from a soft-brick situation where there's still a custom ROM in the NAND (the Flash memory) PCC will most likely tell you to take a hike as it fails to correctly identify the phone (hence why I said "forget PCC/SEUS" in the post you refer to below). EDIT: Let me rephrase: "...as it fails to correctly identify the software installed on the phone as it's not a genuine Stock ROM, or Kernel"

It's the same thing I wrote up on my (still at being populated with content due to lack of time) droppage site ... the post on my droppage is just a somewhat rewritten version of the forum post to iron out things I missed to consider.
Both posts should work for you once you flashed back to Stock Baseband/Kernel and relocked the bootloader.
last question,(just to be secure of what i am going to do) how do i know if my phone has an unlocked bootloader? the only thing that i remember that i've changed on the phone it's the baseband, install xrecovery and clockwork mod, also the roms... i dont remember anything about unlock the bootloader...

At least you wrote in your first post that you installed nobodyAtall's nAa Kernel - which requires you to unlock the bootloader; otherwise MiniCM7 doesn't boot up... ... ... ... wait a sec ...
On a second thought ... could THAT be the reason why you're stuck at the SE Logo? You didn't unlock the boot loader, you didn't flash the required kernel for MiniCM7 but you actually flashed the MiniCM7 ROM and therefore managed to soft-brick?
About the question: See this thread. There's also a section about how you can tell if your boot loader is unlocked or not.
If the thread looks awfully familiar to you then you already dealt with boot loader unlocking. If that thread is news to you then you made a bad boo-boo along the way.
HAahajajaajaajahaja... Oh my gosh... that's totally not the answer that i was looking for... now i'm thinking "what the f*** did i done with my cellphone?", i feel really dumb right now, it's so much easier install custom roms with the stock kernel, but, well.. sometime's that's the way to learn new things, just messing up BADLY the things...
Oh god, well, this soft brick it's a huge pain in the ass.. so.. let's see...
i just wanna fix the phone, so, which are the best and safest way to fix it, considering that i've didin't unlock the bootloader? i dont wanna use the MiniCM7, i just wanna see the xrecovery to install any rom that work with the stock kernel, (or at least, anything that can keep running my cellphone...)
By the way... THANKS A LOT FOR HELP ME, right now, you are the only person who helped me , without your help, I would be totally crazy, hysterical, and angry ... even though my phone is not repaired (yet), you had helped a lot, sincerely, thank you very much!

This wasn't meant to make you feel dumb or bad ... the idea that you may have missed to unlock the boot loader and install the required Kernel just jumped into my mind while I typed the reply.
Let me tell you this to make you feel better ... if you look around in the "Q&A" board here you will notice that you're not the only one who managed to soft-brick while trying to install MiniCM7.

Well, if you really managed to downgrade the baseband to 006 then you need to upgrade it to 015 again FIRST (the 2.1.1.C.0.0 Flashtool ROM image needs baseband 015 ... only the older 2.1.1.A.0.0 stock ROM would also boot on 006).
You can find the baseband FTF either here in the X8 Development board ... or simply go to my droppage and click the "Downloads" tab ... the baseband FTF's for the X8 E15a and X8 E15i are for download there.
Once you verified that you're running the right baseband simply continue with the "Flash back to Stock" guide (Post #2 above) to pull your phone back out of Valhalla.

Hi guys,
I am on stock ROM of Donut on X8.
I would like to update to Gingerbread stock ROM and it to be done through Service Center.
So, is it possible to flash Stock gingerbread on our X8 ?
Actually, my phone is LG Optimus Black, I have knowledge on that.
But X8 is my friend's phone, I read some instructions here to root and flash, seems somewhat headache and risk taking.
So desired to update to Gingerbread with service center.
Suggestions are welcome...:fingers-crossed:

Our device, doesn't upgrade to Ginger by official roms (maximum to eclair 2.1.1 & u can. Use Sony's pc companion to upgrade phone to android 2.1.1)
-If you wanna install Ginger anyway, must root the device {install drivers then root by superoneclick application , then install recovery & busybox (cwm or xrecovery - search form cmw installer or busybox installer for x8 )
Download a Ginger rom {ex. GingerDX v029} & place in sdcard
After installing recovery go into it (turn on phone, when you see sony logo keep pressing back button)
Then make nandroid backup-important, if any thing goes wrong you can restore to stock
Press full wipe/factory reset
Select install zip from sdcard, navigate to zip file & install it
Enjoy gingerbread
{Using flashtools app is recommended, it installs recovery, buaybox & roots! By itself. But before using read a guide first }

There is no stock GB update for the X8. Not even Froyo. Your only hope now, if you want to get GB, is to root it, install a recovery and then install a GB ROM.
Try Watch this Video! its super easy to Root.
Youtube:--->>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qYBoT0NOPc (i followed instruction from this video for the first time Root)
all the required tools in the video Decription. watch it carefully and be ready and do it step by step by pause and pause the Video!
Rooting is the only method to make the device SuperFun!
after root you can install any ROM that you preferred and be careful to Flash right ROM with right Kernel otherwise you will brick the X8.
Sorry for my Bad English

Play or don't play
Hi!
I think if you don't want to play with your phone only download some social apps you can update to gingerbread I think the gingerDx is your rom this work on stock kernel, but if you want to play you have to install the minicm7 by nobodyatall but for this you have to change the kernel. If your phone made after maybe 11W38 you can!t change the kernel.

hi guys, i have some issues during installation process. when i try to install any ROM it just dont accept it. ive followed exact instructions and checked for my version, baseband, rooted, installed xrecovery, wiped data, install rom, again full wipe and again it seems that doesnt work. i checked also for requirements, i have unlocked bootloader, have stock kernel but no lucky at all. im desperate, i dont wanna to stuck again with eclair because its poor in comparation with >2.2. i havent mentioned that earlier about 3 months ago i succed to install gingerv20 without any problem but now i cant. pls help
If you have unlocked your bootloader then why are you on stock kernel?? :what:
Flash the correct & latest nAa or alfs kernel and then the corresponding compatible rom.
Also don't do full wipe AFTER you have flashed the rom!!

U are not mentioning that u have installed a kernel with flashtool. If you are using a Rom which requires custom kernel then you have to flash first it with flashtool
Sent from my ST26i using xda app-developers app
You better use cwm instaid of xrecovery. If you have indeed unlocked your bootloader then you can install the kernel with flashtool and the cwm will be included. Also as i have already told you see what kernel the rom works with!
hey guys, when i choosed what rom i will download, in requrement said that will work with stock kernel and i didnt flashed it. but before that rom i flashed it with flashtool to try others and also didnt work...im not that noob, i can read but im sure that i srewed something up...i'll continue to try and i'll let u know have i succed...tnx anyway
After many roms tryed i finally succed to install 'Update-GingerElite.V2', and i didnt FULL WIPED after installing it as ''cdeox8'' said, and he was right. In requrements just said that that need to be rooted, Baseband 015, Sony Ericsson Stock Kernel and that was true, but i tryed few of roms who required same things but they didnt work. Anyway im not gonna to risk anymore with roms, i like this GingerElite so im gonna keep it for the moment. When i buy other phone im goona make some experiments tnx guys anyway
Hi ,
I want to root unlock bootloader, install cwm and install a custom rom ( slimkat probably)
Are custom roms worth it? Are there performance better than the stock jb on z?
Can i brick my phone doing this? And if i brick my phone how to unbrick it? I have heard someting about flash tool, but need more info.
And how this phone works? for example if i get a bootloop, in my old phone i still could easly go into cwm and restore backup or install another custom rom.
I want to do everything by this tut: theunlockr.com/2013/07/22/how-to-root-the-sony-xperia-z-video (it doesn't let me put the clickable so just copy)
Have you tried that or recommend something else?
Thanks.

I suggest you to read various threads about unlocking a bootloader, the risks and about the rom you want to flash.

Hi.
First some custom roms have better prefomance than stock and others not. You will brick you phone if you did something wrong. In all custom roms and mods the devs saying WIPE DALVIK CACHE if you didn't did that you will brick your phone.to unbrick use flashtool. Just download ftf file and install it from this tool. Dont worry its safe but you will lose your data. So BACKUP THEM!!!!! . Flashtool can install stock rom only.
And if you got bootloop. sometimes you will lose cwm. So you flashtool.
And last one..
To root you phone that Depends on you android version the best way you need to downgrade to 4.2.2 if you on 4.3 then you this app to root ( kingoapp.com )
DONE!
