[Q] "Application not installed" and partitioned sdcard - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello! First of all, I'm using GingerDX v.20 and ALFS kernel v.05. I partitioned my sd-card so now I have FAT32, ext3 and swap partition. My problem is that second time in a week period (I restored to official soft, installed GingerDX and it happened today again) all my installed applications stopped working, even the Market (but most of pre-included are working). I took a look into problem and found out that after mounting /dev/block/mmcblk0p2, there are directories on it indicating there are installed apps on this partition. My guess then is that somehow GingerDX is not mounting ext3 partition during boot, so the applications can't be loaded (however, they're found on list Applications settings but under development names [i.e. com.google.android.apps.market]). Any ideas how to solve this problem?
UPDATE:
What is more interesting, "adb shell pm list packages" does not show any user installed application.

My recomendation is that you repair your device via PC Companion and root your phone again and unlock the bootloader again and do everything from step one.
I hope i helped

This is a known problem if you use app2sd(script) and swapper 2.Try removing swapper2 if you use it.

I don't use Swapper, so it's not the problem.

Ouch, I guess it's hopeless situation. All .asec files are lost and /dev/block dm entries too. I guess it's the problem you cannot solve otherwise than by reinstalling all apps. Anyways, thanks for your help.

[Q] Can't install certain apps

I've had some trouble with CM 6.1 because I haven't been able to install certain kind of apps; first the restore failed with Titanium Backup, so I tried on the market, but that was unsuccessful too.
What seemed to solve the problem in 6.1 was telling in CM settings to install directly on the phone (CM Settings->Application Settings -> Install location-->Internal).
Now that I've got 6.1.1 the problem is back, and the previouse fix does not work. I can't seem to get back on the phone apps like StumbleUpon and SDMove.
I don't know what the problem is since everything worked in 6.0.
Anyone has any clues?
Thanks in advance
Do you have DarkTremor's apps2SD installed? If not, what always worked for me was to unmount the SD, install the app, remount the SD and then use froyo apps2SD to move it.
I am having the same problem but have DarkTremor's apps2SD and can't unmount the SD so I don't know what to do now.

Unmounting worked!
Well, thanks a lot.
But still, this is really annoying. I mean, I should be able to install without the need to unmount/remount every time!
Yeah it's really annoying now that unmounting isn't a possibility but no one seems to have an answer why this happens in either case.
I suspect it has something to do with the way the app wants to install. One developer I talked to mentioned that apps that want to install directly to SD have this issue and this is why unmounting works, it forces the app to install to internal memory. With DarkTremors though this is no longer possible so I don't know what to do.

[Q] Problem with A2SD and ICS

Hey.
I have a problem with my N1.
I use the Evervolv Rom by Texas. Yesterday I the problem occured that it was impossible for me to install any app from the Market. Everytime I try a message "Not enough space" pops up. When I try to restore an app with Titanium Backup it loads for forever, but TB shows that there is enough ROM, Internal, A2SD storage available.
Then I tried several things like repartionating my SD-Card (using GParted - ext3 1,5 GB), using a different BlackRose hboot. I even tried this CM9 ROM, but the problem stays the same.
Now I have no idea how to solve this problem
Could my SD card be broken?
Greetings
crush41
did you activate the a2sd in terminal?
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
Yes, but i left the dalvic internal
You should try these:
a2sd install (folowed by "yes" and "yes")
a2sd xdata
It should give you a huge internal space.

Seems to help, but I find it unusual that A2SD did just now, and now despite the fact that i wiped several times it only works with this command.
Now several apps have a force close when i try to start them... i cleaned dalvic cache and cache but it stays..
ask the master himself or wipe everything 3X b4 you install rom if all else fails FLASH another rom if it continues then get a new sd card if that dont help your phone it self might be the problem .... just giving some ideas ....
A2SD and all it's info is here maybe this might help you bro http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715940 HOPE I HELPED IN SOME WAY
Thank you guys... I checked everything and now brought a new SD... looks good so far

[SOLVED] Issue with Cyanogenmod 7.2

Hi all
I have an issue with Cyanogenmod ROM here.
I runned on my Nexus One the 7.1 version with S2E script without problem for six months, then suddenly my 16gB SD Card reported a read/write problem and I have to reinstall everything.
Changing my sd card with a new sandisk 32gb, I decided to install the newer Cyanogenmod 7.2 official version (not nightly) but since then I have a serious issue.
Obviously, just to confirm, I wipe everything before installing pure cyanogen zip file. Then, I begin to install application but as you know internal memory is soon filled.
Then i backup, format SD card, partition it 1GB ext4 / 31GB fat, reinstall the backup, and install S2E.
The problem is that everything run smooth for almost 1 day - where i can install new apps and move to sd etc - but after some hours of use, if you try to install or update application all of a sudden market begins to report error message like:
error 492
file package not valid or signed
or, during installation, the phone has an half reboot.
Obviously i tried to wipe and reinstall everything many times but problem persists.
Also, when it happens, after some more time some applications began to work wrong, especially widget like simple calendar widget or beautiful widget.
I googled to search for a problem of this type, the only solution i found is to install latest version of the market as apk, which I do, but it doesn't work.
Any help?
Should I try another App2SD script different from S2E?
after s2E installation, do I have to launch something from terminal (which I don't do until now)?
thanks
I experienced similar.
I now use mounts2sd from DK Zero Cool. Fantastic script. What I do is to choose 'move data', and choose 'reverse mount'. With just those settings I have no issues. (You run the script from recovery and you're given the options in Aroma installer)

See how that goes for you.

Issue solved
Hi all
Just to make you aware that I solved the issue reinstalling everything using a recovery older than Clockworkmod 5.2, in particular the Amon_RA 2.1, leaving the phone to work with this recovery I wipe everything and reinstall Cyanogenmod 7.2 and S2E and everything is working fine now.
Hope it helps
Thanks
Hello. Thank you it worked for me.

SD2GB to SD16GB change under Jellybean on X8
I think, my problem is also related to Link2SD:
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. copying complete data from old SD card to new (larger) one
2. rebooting with new card
3. phjone freezing with red light LED
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I have expected the new card to work properly
What version of MiniCM you are using? On what device (X10mini, X10minipro,
X8)? Are you using Compcache/Zram? Are you overclocking/undervolting?
X8, Shakira edition 4.1.2., v03 JB nAa kernel
What app(s) are involved in the problem?
I suspect that Link2SD app movings are involved and/or may some information of sdext or android secure are related to old card and this informations are incompatible with new card.
Have you tried rebooting your device?
Yes. I have also tried recovery backup on old card and restore on new one. Result is the same.
What is the adb logcat output when the problem accurs?
complete freezing, I cannot read it.
Please provide any additional information below.
New card was formatted to FAT32. No ext2 or ext3 partitions, only the primary FAT32 on both cards.
I would need a step-by-step method to make the new card with old card data to work properly.
Formattings and copy/paste were made with card reader, not with the phone. Hidden files were included.
If anyone has a solution, thank you in advance.

Link2SD forces bootloop

Hi everyone!
I wanted to put some big apps on my SD card, and I thought I can use Link2SD for this, like I have succesfully done it on my old HTC Desire HD.
Today I tryed the same as with my old phone, but it ends with a bootloop. So maybe someone can help me to use it on my XZR.
First of all I rooted my Xperia ZR with Towelroot succesful, then installed supersu. Everything works well. Bootloader is still closed.
After that I partitionated my SD Card like on the old phone. 2 GB should be enough for the sdext partition I want to use with link2sd. I formatted it with 4ext system.
Now I installed link2sd and make the mount script and made a reboot ------> Bootloop!
I deleted the made partiton to solve the bootloop and deinstalled link2sd, So I can use my ZXR again. But I need space in intern memory.
What can I do? Does Link2SD dont work with Xperia ZR?
This was the reason of root, to run such a programm. Maybe someone can help me.
Greatings Lemmi.
Dear Lemmi,
you are not the only one with this problem. My Xperia V also goes into bootloop since 4.3 (before it worked fine). However, using the search I found the following fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m/general/towel-root-steps-to-root-t2789990
I did not try it yet, but others did and it sounds very promising. If you had luck with that, just post it here or there so other users can profit from that information

Are there any other method to install apps in external sd?

In desperate need for Link2SD on ZR, is there a way?
How to get Link2SD to work:
When you have root install the remount reboot fix befor you try to make the boot script with link2sd!!!!! After installing the fix it will work fine!!! http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...b-definitive-root-remount-reboot-fix-t2317432
Thats as far i know the only and easyiest way to get Link2SD running on Xperia ZR
Apparently it fixed my problem. I owe you my life. THANKS!
is there anyway to make link2sd work if i installed reboot-remount fix after creating the boot script with link2sd?
as i didn't know about reboot fix, so i installed link2sd first and created the boot script.and as a result it goes into bootloop.then i came across the reboot fix.but after successfully applying the reboot fix, it's still not working.goes into bottloop.i tried both ext2, ext3 parition.
phone : xperia ZR (4.4.4 rooted) stock recover, rom, kernel.locked bootloader.
