USB port repair

It appears that either the USB port or the USB controller is failing (has failed). The phone still charges but neither the phone nor any computer recognizes that the phone is plugged in. Even when I plug the phone into a wall jack, the phone does not make any sound or light up or show it is charging (it does charge though). If I go to the battery settings while the phone is plugged in (computer or wall) the phone recognizes that it is charging.
If the phone is off and I plug in the usb cable (compter or wall) the phone turns on by itself. This is problematic because I cannot get into the download mode using the 3 button combo. I also cannot get into the download mode using apps like Reboot Widget.
I installed USB Host Controller which says that the USB cable is not plugged in when it is. I can disable and enable USB charging though. Changing the USB Host Drivers has no effect.
So it looks like I need to send it into mobiletechvideos for repair. But reading through the reviews there is concern that just replacing the USB port wont fix my problems if the USB Controller is shot.
Not only did they replace the USB port and get it back to me in about a week but they told me that since the controller had failed and the phone couldn't talk to the computer I wasn't charged the full price for the repair.

So I guess I'm asking if anyone here knows anything about this issue and if mobiletechvideos.com can repair it.
I am also going to email mobiletechvideos.com asking them this same question.
Thanks for your time.

Mobiletechvideos (Connexion2005 on xda) can most likely repair your phone. Him and Adam Outler have been doing the impossible with devices!

[Q] USB/Charging Problem

Hi
When I try to plug my HTC One into my computer or the usb charger, the phone goes into Car mode and a message pops up in the notification center stating that the phone cannot be charged and that I need to use the charger I got with the phone.
I am using the charger (or USB cabel) that came with the phone. Thinking it was a software problem, I did a soft reset but the exact same thing continues to happen. The phone does occasionally charge with the USB charger but connecting it to the PC is a no-go.
I tried using the charger I got with the HTC Media Link HD but that won't work either.
Help would be extremely appreciated as I'm feeling quite uncomfortable with this happening.
Thanks in advance!
Brad

[Q] Can't connect my phone to computer with USB because it goes crazy.

Has this happened to anyone else?
Whenever I connect my phone to a computer with the usb cable, the device plugged-device unplugged sounds start playing in rapid succession and of course I can't see the phone's storage.
Does anyone know how to fix this? phone was working well yesterday
It was a faulty cable, thanks for your help guys :silly:

Original USB cable issue !

Hi,
I'm reporting that my original Sony made USB cable have some issues:
first charge - all fine new phone was not turned on before i plugged usb cable to do a first charge
second charge - plugging usb cable has no effect on the phone at all i unplug it and plug it again no reaction then i decided (it was very late) to plug it to my nexus charger and nexus cable - it charges fine !
third - i decided to check if the Sony charger is any good so i used nexus usb cable with original charger - all fine phone charges, then i tried Sony usb cable with other devices - nexus 7 is charging, HTC One X is charging then i tried to flex that cable at every part - no effect
now I'm afraid that it is dangerous to use it - i put it in a cabinet and waiting for response from Sony support...

[Q] Phone will not connect to Pc/charger

Few days ago, I connected my phone to pc while in fastboot and there was a small spark and burnt smell on the USB port. Nothing melted though. Since then, my phone won't connect. The phone still turns on.
Do you guys think that just replacing the USB port on my One will solve the problem?

Assuming you have tried different cables and computer ports, the next thing to look at would be the USB port on the phone.
