European Championships 2012 - Off-topic

Can't see a thread on this, draw was made earlier and true to form Ireland get one of the toughest groups especially world champions Spain, both Italy and Croatia are quality on their day and we'll be massive underdogs going into this but we might surprise a few people.
England got a handy group but getting to Ukraine will be a logistical nightmare for their fans, Poland wont be quite as bad for us although looks like we'll be taking the long route as the price of flights is insane.

22 overpaid pansies/big-girls blouses, running around kicking a leather ball filled with air and playing 'who can fall over the most in 90 minutes'.
I can't wait

Lol @Dirk
Maybe this time Poland will get to the round of 16s (Yes, I am from Poland, and yes, I dislike the Polish national team)
And flights from Dublin to Poland arent that expensive. Lat time I flew AerLingus (had a transfer in Dublin[yes, I did drink the GUinness there, so much better] and the flight was pretty cheap for the summer) and also you have Ryan Air which is basically the price of the change you can find in your couch.

Generally they are not too bad however the airlines in particular Ryanair who i hate have quadrupled prices cashing on so it looks like we'll be on a coach and getting ferries and taking the long route, probably better craic that way, im looking forward to going to Gdansk i hear it's a wonderful city.

2014 World Cup qualifying draw

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/9551624.stm
Just been made, throws up some interesting games, i really wanted us to get France again so we could get revenge on them over the Thierry Henry handball which cheated us from taking part in last summers World Cup, from Ireland's group obviously Germany will be favorites to top the group and it'll most likely be between Ireland and Sweden for the 2nd spot but im confident we'll progress this time.
Our nearest neighbours England got a relatively easy draw too.
So who did your country get and what's the verdict?

A caution to UK Play Store buyers

Just a cautionary note to would-be device buyers from the Play Store - my girlfriend has had a dreadful experience trying to buy me a 16GB Nexus 7. The order was placed on the 8th to be delivered 'within 2 days'. They messed her around until the 16th, blaming the courier for 'not receiving the order correctly' (which was a load of nonsense according to TNT, the courier in question) and that other UK customers who ordered on the 8th had suffered similar issues. At this point she gave up, told them to cancel the order and purchased a 32GB N7 from Carphone Warehouse. Funnily enough, despite this, the status changed from 'order placed' to dispatched and they attempted to deliver the device originally ordered on the 20th. We declined the delivery, but still haven't received a refund. She's just on the phone to TNT again who are actually being very helpful and have confirmed the device has been returned, which Google claim is untrue. Still in limbo...
I'm sure most people who order from them will have no issues, but bear in mind when ordering from them that they have no UK contact and you're stuck dealing with a useless, rude US-based telephone team who have the ability to do naff all except sprout the same corporate bullish*t about their refunds process. You have no comeback from Citizens Advice or trading standards as there is no entity in the UK to list and the telephone support people will not give a UK trading address!
in the us it takes between 6-8 weeks to get a refund from google.. This is only after the 14 days you must wait before they will even talk to you. Keep on them or they will just keep putting you off.. It takes forever...
On a slightly different track, is TNT the worst carrier ever? They have NEVER succeeded in making a delivery to my home. Every time I find by checking tracking they have supposedly failed to find my home and I have to personally collect, a round trip of fifty miles. Maybe I am at the limit of their delivery radius and the drivers just can't be arsed. Taking into consideration shipping and this journey, it sure made my Nexus 7 a heck of a lot more expensive than if I just bought it on the high street.
Sadly not true of the Nexus 4 which is only available at a rip off price on the high street.
I'm glad my order with the UK Playstore, for a 3G Nexus 7, was processed and delivered without a hitch.
Have you spoken to the bank?

I ordered N7-3G Sunday evening and was despatched Monday morning with them stating 3-5 working days. I was pleasantly to see it waiting for me Tuesday when I came home.
It was delivered quicker than it took TNT to update their tracking information.

I cannot sing the praises of Ebuyer enough when it comes to electronics, I bought 3 Nexus 7 16gb off them, strangely enough the Friday before the 32gb was announced on the following Monday grrrrrrrrrr
Anyway I digress, I ordered the 3 of them at the same time Friday night just before 8pm, paid a couple of quid upgrade for a Saturday delivery next morning 7:30 Parcel Force knocking on the door with them, less than 12 hours, it does not get much better than that
Hope you get it sorted soon
Can't say I've had any problems with the UK play store when ordering it. I ordered a Nexus on the 23rd Nov at half 11 at night. It was dispatched on the Monday and I got it on the Tuesday. Was delivered by TNT as well

They come a bit higher than hdnl/yodel in my opinion.
From experience of buying n7 and being unable to buy n4 I find nothing that would make me recommend buying from play store.
Getting n4 from cpw even with the premium just because play store sucks so much.

Nexus 6 in Europe/Germany?

Hi fellow Tech-Friends,
i know ur like the super informed-elite of Smartphone user, and i really like to know if anyone could tell me if the date i heard about(18th november) is accurate as a release?
im hearing "pre-order" time as a term, does that mean we have to preorder on 18th like the US on the 31th and wait another 2 weeks before we can count on delivery from China?
Google makes no efford to keep anyone in the EU updated, and i start to get really pissed thinking of the poor performance benchmarks cause of the encryption problems.
I hope theres no mistake in posting this here and i apologize for my english.
Greetings from Germany!
belgium is not even gonna get the app in stores! only through the google play store!
Same here in Italy. We hope for November 18th.
I guess we'll have pre-orders by that time, so no luck getting it before december.
Here in Switzerland, at digitec.ch, they will have it at the beginning of December, in the detail of the article it's written 30.11.14. No carrier sell it but this online shop yes, and with contract too (my case)
Probably going to be the 18th of November over here in The Netherlands and Germany.
will be 18th. to preorder. nobody knows when it will be up for actual purchase or do we?
i dont find any store(like saturn, mediamarkt, amazon) thats even listing it..
Only 1 store in sweden say middel of nov, rest of the store says 31 January 2015.
So..any news on Germany?
I only get screwed on Google Support-line, dont trust them at all any longer
