I want to buy a orange(romania) blocked OB, but I wanna know if I can decode it myself... Thx
Yes, you can!
You only need the unlock code. It's based on IMEI. I unlocked mine for 5 Euros (discounted from 7 euros to DXA members) back in may 2011...
www.liberarme.com
so if i install a custom rom it will still be locked ?
Sim lock and branding are diferent things. So yes it will be locked until you get unlock code.
Look at eBay. There are codes for $3. It's cheap as hell....
Ok guys got unlock code but!!! And it is a big but - the unlock menu does not work in CM7 V17. Do you know if any of the nightlys will work or will have to flash back stock to unlock?
not a problem if i have to just wondering.

In CM7 LG secret codes aren't working...
You must go back to original ROM and enter 2945#*970# to get into network lock menu.

Did you do full Nandroid backup of your stock rom? If yes, you can simply backup your current CM7, full wipe, restore your stock backup, unlock simlock, then again full wipe and restore CM7.
If i was you, I would do this ASAP because noone knows when LG push update, and if code isn't working you can get refund.
OK job done. Didnt save the original Nandroid but made a new one with open europe german rom.
So funny have forgotten how ugly v10a was LOL

official update through Kies (program from samsung).
As for root, use superoneclick (SuperUser).
And I believe there's a market app that will give you the code for the unlock (can't remember what it's called).

Hey now, I replied 1st haha
Although, thx for the app name
SIM unlock it first with SUPERONECLICK...save yourself the hassle afterwards
Please take the time to do a search before posting as this could have easily been answered by doing so.

So the way to go would be,
1.Update to (official) 2.2 using kies
2.Then Use the SuperOneClick v1.9.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682 to ROOT the device
3.And finally find an app to perform the sim-unlock
Have I got it right ?
Thanks for all your comments, I should have searched a bit more before posting,, I appreciate all your replies

Indeed, that is right.
The whole process takes 10min tops
You can do the sim unlock at any point (as long as your rooted). Once you do it it's unlocked.
I did mine just to show off to my tmobile friend that I could use his sim. I've flashed a lot since then, on gingerbread right now actually, still unlocked.
Thank you BWolf56 ,studacris n Pirateghost for the support, I feel confident to go ahead with that method
Hi again, My captivate has:
Baseband Version - I897UCJH7
Build Number - ECLAIR.UCJH7
I am looking at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761751
If I follow as I stated above and first Update to 2.2 (official), Next Root it with Supr1Clik, and then Try to Unlock it (like in link above) could it give me any errors (at the unlock stage)?
I read that 2.2 limits certain unlock methods(like it changes certain directories), I'd like to know if this could affect me in the process? You know like screw me up at the last moment hehe
I tried https://market.android.com/details?id=com.clarkehackworth.SamsungGalaxySUnlock made by DaGentooBoy but it didn't work, it said no codes.
And now I am looking at Samsung Galaxy S Unlock Froyo https://market.android.com/details?id=com.clarkehackworth.SamsungGalaxySUnlockFroyo by DaGentooBoy
BTW I have not yet rooted or updated to official 2.2, still running 2.1 ECLAIR.UCJH7
Kindly refer to my previous post and help me find a solution. ty

SGS unlock (your 2nd option) works great.
you are wasting your time going through all those steps

while still on JH7, use SUPERONECLICK to both, root, and unlock
do NOT update to 2.2 before you unlock it

Yes, you can unlock it with superoneclick as well.
I really didn't know I could network unlock it with SuperOneClick,

Hi, nvflash means back to stock. Nvflash should bring you to stock with no root, recovery, nothing at all... I guess, in order to remove Cwm, is to use nvflash.
Here's a thread of mine on how to flash back to stock

Mh, thank you all for the answers, but my big problem is that I need the 1&1 branding in the rom. And I really don´t know how to get it (on a stock rom).

What does the 1&1 branding look like? Only knew unbranded and Vodafone-branded firmware, thought that 1&1 distributes the unbranded 2X
Paul gave a zip in modaco forum to remove CWM (cant post the link here, but just search remove cwm optimus 2x and its there in the second result)
how can you generate such a zip? as I want to backup my stock recovery from brazil claro operator V10a
or can I flash taht zip in my V10 and all will be good?

This says unbricking? sorry i am noob..
but asume this is some sort of unroot, i can do al the steps in the treadh
with my custom ROM and it will come out like a LG phone, i can send to LG
to repear it?
That method will completely reset your phone. It means it will unroot your phone. Just follow the step and then after that you can send it into service centre. You can also use that method if you experience bootloop or if you brick your OB.

The LG smartflash tool will return your phone to the state that it came from the factory. It erases all memory, boot, recovery (where root is) sectors and the rom that was currently installed.
Then it installs the official LG boot, recovery and system sectors, leaving little trace of any software modifications.
If you have the original SD card in ur phone, I would either take it out or format it, before sending it for repair, just to make sure they have no excuse to void your warranty.

So, a friend of mine has a Sony Xperia SP... Model C5303, Android 4.3, Build number 12.1.A.1.207.
I know I have to unlock it's bootloader in order to be able to put TWRP on it (and then custom ROM). But how do I do this? I looked around but found nothing (really, I might just be blind).
Thanks in advance to anyone who might be answering. Also, if I unlock the bootloader... Do I lose anything (like camera capabilities, I know that was a thing for the Xperia Z)...?

welcome first
second : u first unlock it yeah then go to this
and then install it on ur freind's phone (via pc it's very simple and all is written there )
after u do this and have a working recovery u go to the recovery and flash the twrp from here and then u will have a fully working recovery capable of flashing even 6.0 ROMs ...but if u want a recovery that is only working with 5.0+ ROMs (it's very good and fast " it's the last twrp v3.0.0 !! " and flash it if u want to flash a lollipop ROM or higher ) check this out
all is here and i'm sure u won't need something else ,,,,enjoy ! :silly:

6.0 is better in terms of everything
but in 6.0 the camera is broken (video recording does work but u can't capture images or take photos )
so if that is not a problem then u should flash 6.0
5.1.1 is fully functional and it's very smooth and good too (i'm on cm12.1) and it's very good and i have no problems with it at all ...all is fixed in 5.1.1 >>>for the best ROM u should go for cm12.1+adrian dc addons (or u can flash the latest unofficial build from here which have everything u need )
or flash the nighltly and flash with it the gestures package and the quickboot

Yeah, I have Marshmallow on my Nexus 6 and I have a crazy bug with Contacts... I receive a message from number X, add it to Contacts, and there's a chance that next time I try to look for that contact, it doesn't exist. Say... I click on the contact right after I add it to my Contacts list, and try to Edit it. The number field would be empty, and seconds later I'd be brought back to the Contacts List with a toast notification saying "This contact doesn't exist".
Crazy, lol. Wasn't happening on Lollipop. Oh and battery isn't any better with Marshmallow - doubt Doze is working as intended, as long as you have apps like WhatsApp.
So yeah... I'll slap a Lollipop ROM on my friend's SP. Blow some new life on his 3 year old coffee grinder, lol.
----------
One more thing. Unlocking the bootloader doesn't break anything? Like I said in the original post, I remember the Xperia Z had a thing where if you unlocked its bootloader, the camera would go bonkers (wouldn't work lol).
Also... if this guy ever wants to go back to stock... Is there this posibility? I've seen there are stock .ftf files, not sure what's that about.
Thank you very much for assisting me

our 6.0 is very clean thanks to our great developer but since we have outdated libs of the camera that's the only problem we have and we hope to get it fixed
about the BL the unlocking will only effect the display (bravia-engine 2 will be disabled ) but anyway that won't work on custom ROMs at all ,,,so flashing lollipop will kill that anyway but it doesn't effect much cuz the display with HTS on lollipop is just fine and great
to get back u need to first backup the drm files (this is before the unlocking process !!) there is a program for it called TA backup ...search for it u will find it for sure cuz it's for all xperia devices
after u back that up keep it in safe place and flash whatever u want
whenever u want to get back to stock just flash a ftf ROM with flashtool (or there are some great stock ROM zips u can flash directly via twrp or cwm )
if u want to restore the bravia engine 2 just re-lock the boot-loader and restore the drm keys from the backup u took and boom ! everything get back to normal
and yes our phone is 3 years old but it's great one and we still not on legacy section thanks to it's community !!
good luck with all ! hope ur friend enjoy it

Hi guys,
I wanted to make my phone stock again, therefore I downloaded a TWRP Backup called "M8_MINI_UL_TWRP_Nandroid_2.18.161.2_(inkl._preload-Ordner)" I assume that it's not
4.4 currently my system runs with the snap release of CM.
So maybe its a downgrade how to do it?
It keeps saying "E: No partitions selected for restore."
Thanks in advance

that could be a ROM error since you are using CM.
Vodafone will know that you mess with the phone because like i said the hboot will show as "tempered".
HTC usually repairs for free when its an hardware fault but if you looking to get another model thats different.
It looks like the ROM you downloaded from VOdafone its an nanodroid backup? if yes than i suggest using nandroid for the restore.
