Is there DND firewall (MOde) like app,can we use it on some other ROM?
miui roms have this feature or are you looking at different e.g sense or cm7 roms for this feature?
I`m using right now Nexus HD2 ICS Beta4 ROM,can i use it and how on this ROM,or that is app inside ROM and can not be install like app?

no you cant use most Miui apps in other ROMs. Just use Miui ROM, its much more stable then current ICS and it has ton of features that ICS does not.

I completely agree with kolyan, but there are few advantages on CM7 over Miui. My personal experience is CM7 has solid framework and I find CM7 mobile signal reception is much better than Miui. Also the default SD-Card manager in Miui has few issues (may be on my phone) as in I need to reboot my phone after copying any files to SD-Card using built in filemanager.
I would love to have DND, data monitor , notes and other apps on CM7. These apps are so convenient to use. If anyone knows how to install them on CM7 that would be great, thanks in advance.
CM7
Hi!
Can I use, this firewall, on my Motorola DEFY with CM7 7.2?
Thanks: RR
i need this option very much

Hi Guys
I've been a long time user of the Kang-o-rama ROMs. I've got the latest flashed on there (2.3.7) but I'm thinking of giving my Sexxy Nexxy one last hurrah by flashging MIUI.
I'm after a ROM that will allow me to use S2E instead of A2SD - any ideas on which to try?
Thanks in advance
I would recommend MIUI for Nexus One. It's the only ROM that offers most of Sense/TouchWiz functionality that CM/AOSP builds lack, while staying small-sized and fast.
OK - care to link me to your preferred ROM?

I am a long time Miui user, and don't know of any of the Miui builds that use S2E. I have been tempted to try it and see if it works, but have stuck with a2sd+. Miui has A2SD+ built in and as long as you have an ext3 partition and run "a2sd install" in terminal after loading the rom, it works fine.
Lately I have been using the straight miui.com rom; but have also extensively used miui.us and miui android. The latest build as of today for the N1 is 1.11.18, but they are updated weekly. 1.11.18 has been really solid for me, and everything seems to be working on the miui.com rom.
If you use the miui.com rom, go to google translate and load the site there so you can download the rom. Otherwise use the miui.us,miuiandroid.com or miui scotland for english builds.

I am really not sure if S2E will work with MIUI. It comes with A2SD (I think the plus version) by default. After installing the ROM just run a2sd reinstall from Terminal Emulator. It works like a charm for me!
There are many good things about MIUI. It has the right balance of performance and being eye-candy. Good alternative to CM7. They release weekly builds and generally the bugs get fixed soon.
If you like Sense UI, then you can try HyperSense as well. I am seeing good progress on that and probably not the most stable version at this point. But it sounds promising.
I am currently running MIUI (after trying almost every ROM out there!!)
Hello, I just got this phone today. I've been considering flashing custom rom, but can't decide which. I'm dwelling between MIUI and CM7. Which one is currently better and with less bugs? Which version of recovery am I supposed to flash? Which baseband is currently the best for MIUI and which for CM7? Which kernel should I use? I'm sorry if thread already exists, I couldn't find it.
Hello!
Define best ROM!?!
If you use MIUI or CM is more a question of taste.
CM is a little more updated and a little more a vanilla approach. MIUI is trying to copy the iOS-concept and there is a even a theme that does a good iOS/Iphone-Copy - so if you like that...
Both ROMs run well and are faster than stock rom.
Baseband an RIL - that is a long discussed issue. In many German forums RIL/BAseband 0622 are recommended for MIUI and CM - but 0823 does also run well...
I would either go for a good CM KANG like the one from koboltzz (http://bit.ly/sbUogR) or the latest MIUI - do as you like.
You should always flash the latest clockwork-mod that comes with ROM-Manager.
...and don't forget LG Ril Version since you might need it - because the RIL included in CM7 is always 0218.
Greetings
Medizinmann
Ok, I think I will try MIUI. Also I see that it has some problems, but when Tweak pack is flashed it works fine. Which baseband will work better with MIUI 0622 or 0823? Is baseband the same as RIL?
edit: it isn't. So, what RIL to use with MIUI, and how to flash it? With LG RIL Version APP or something else?
Hi, you need to more think about your needs and demands when choosing a very different type of a ROM.
CMIUI is a rom based on MIUI but it has some modules from CM...it's currently available for Motorola Defy and I think that it's the best rom....
Go for MIUI.
U have to think about it.
If u want to use your phone daily - then definetly NOT MIUI.
i tired it for a week, different roms -still to buggy!!
If u want to use it daily - CM7 with Go Launcher. works perfect.
Or a Modaco rom
Why dont you try each of them for a week and you decide for your self which is best for you

Ok, I see, I definitively want everyday use, so I will go for CM. What do you recommend Stable, Nightly or Kang? What tool do I use to flash basebands?
i've have been using cm7 nightly for about a month. this rom definitely the most stable rom based from my experienced.
miui rom looks more lile ios..lol
By the way flashing and restoring app is only a ten minutes job...
CM7 is still the best
Hello!
Again...
The newest version of MIUI is already pretty stable and I tested a custom version with oc/uv-kernel from MIUI-Germany (Celebration iPhone HD 3.0.3) which is based on the last CM7-Nightly 204 from 16.11.2011 and the last Version of the SwiftExtremeKernel from 20.11.2011 - and it ran well, fast and stable.
...but I don't realy like the copied iOS UI concept – so I tried CM7(see my sig.) and must say that I like the more vanilla Android UI concept it a lot more…
hello all,
i have recently bought a nexus one and wondering wht i should flash? I like sense but they appearantly are all very slow. I hate miui. I like cm7 but hate its ui. What should i flash?
Sense !
I'm using the lastest sebastiaan's ROM , witha class 10 and it's perfect, the A2SD is AWESOME , no lag in game
If you have a class 10 , install now the seb's ROM , but the dowloading is very long (50 min )
Thanks
PS : you must install 4ext recovery , to use the touch installer !!!!
Depends what you like/use your phone for? I wanted ICS so I went with TexasICS, looks very nice but still has some bugs.
You should wait for stable ICS

Same here, I hate cm7's ADW stuff they use. Stock gingerbread UI is much better compared to ADW.
You can go with BuglessBeast which is mostly stock gingerbread with few additions like over clocking support.
If you want to stay bleeding edge then install MeDroid or TexasIce ICS ROMs. They both have camera and gallery issues, missing hardware acceleration and calendar sync issue.

In my opinion the GUI is nicer in ICS, but it is not yet stable enough for full time use. I haven't tried games like Angry Birds yet, but I suspect they wouldn't run well, because graphics aren't properly fixed in the port yet.
First of all ROM basically is ur choice how u wanna use ur phone.
As u said that u already used miui, y bothering trying any other ROM? It's fast stable and good looking ...
On the other hand sense ROM is also good but u always have the processing issues unless u have a high class SD card.
Bugles beast is a nice suggestion for u to use gingerbread UI with smooth and minimal usage...
PS: since I've started using miui I've not thought about any other ROM
Sent from my Nexus WON on MIUI ;-)
I've practically tried all the ROMs on here, from MIUI to Sense and I've got a few things to say.
MIUI looks like iOS in many ways, but is VERY themable. There are themes for almost anything.
CM7 (mainly samuaz's build) is a very fast and stable ROM. It basically displays the stock android experience with a minimal UI. Highly themable.
Sense: HTC's firmware now ported to the Nexus One. Features a stunning and hefty UI that takes a lot of resources. I've tried all builds here, but mainly Runny AIO and I have to say that's the best build. I love Sense. It is not really recommended to run Sense if you have a class 2 SD card like I do, but I'll upgrade it for a class 6 one tomorrow.
Ice Cream Sandwich/Cyanogenmod 9. Very hyped, but with all rights to it. ICS and/or CM9 are totally awesome ROMs and well worth trying out, despite their flaws. Even with no real hardware acceleration, they're awesome. Use texasice's version if you want near-stock ICS experience with a pinch of evervolv tweaks and use samuaz's build if you want a Cyanogenmod 9 experience. Sometime this year, we'll get an official CM9 build from the Cyanogenmod team, but texasice and samuaz have done an amazing job with porting ICS to us.
Other AOSP builds. These builds also kind of displays the stock android experience, but with user added features and frameworks. Some are based partly on Cyanogenmod 7 while others are based on something else. Bugless Beast and OxygeN1mod are among the best in this category.
You're free to choose what ROM suits you best, but my vote goes to Runny AIO or any of the two ICS builds.
Cheers.

It doesn't unfortunately. I haven't tried to install DT's A2SD on it because as far as I know the kernel used in Bugless doesn't have ext4 support. I might be wrong though ..

Alternative to Enoms Rom
I am still running Enoms Rom on my N1. This is the most stable and battery effecient Rom I have tried. The problem is that its quite old (Froyo). I was thinking of going to ICS but the stability just isnt there yet. I am thinking of going to Gingerbread instead. Can someone here recommend a good Gingerbread Rom similar to Enoms? I am mainly looking for 720p HTC camera, trackball wake and led notification. Stability and battery life are important as well.

CM7.1 is too old.
You can find CM7.2 here. You can use Temasek Kang which is ULTRA stable and works really well.
In fact, I don't miss a stock rom anymore (except the Onscreen Phone). Everything works great (USB, A2DP, compass, 1080p recording, accelerometer, HDMI out, etc.) Make sure to use Temasek's kernel with sensors version. The stock kernel disables the compass in Google Maps. That special version solves the issue.
Cheers!
hi charlie i actually wants stock rom with all stock apps and some cm 7.1 apps and tweaks with sense 3.0 theme, also can you help me, which kitchen this rom developer use so i can also try
You can't use CM7 apps on a stock ROM because they depend on the CM framework, as far as I know.
I mentioned Temasek's CM7.2 KANG because it has all the features you need and is faster and more stable than the stock ROM. all the issues you mentioned were solved long time ago.
You can go back to stock ROM anytime you want with nvflash or smartflash, or simply by restoring your nandroid backup.
Cheers!

Hi there!
I must say I'm very disappointed with my 2 year old Galaxy S I9000. Reboots, stuck, UI bugs etc.
I tried any possible 2.x.x ROMs (gingerbread). It works fine ~2 months, then start to randomly reboot, lag and etc.
I'm thinking about moving to ICS or JB (??) ROM. Preferably clean ROM from Google with/without 3d party developers modifications (without any samsung crap, or touchwiz or whatever). I though about CM9 but now I read that Slim ICS is better and more stable.
The first thing I need from a phone, is to be a PHONE! i.e. send and receive calls and sms. WiFi and 3G is very important, GPS is very important. Those are the important-mandatory-must-have-must-work things.
Secondary things I want from a phone is to be a decent photo camera (rarely take videos, but not going to give up on this feature), music player, support for external sd card.
Languages does not matter to me, I use English interface. Ability to support RTL languages correctly will be a bonus. Preferably a clean ROM without any forced application (like custom launchers or etc, give me the opportunity to select my launcher please) OR a ROM with pre installed application but with ability to remove them.
Any suggestion to any ROM and kernel combinations will be appreciated!
Thank you a lot!
You can try downloading two roms at a time and put that in your root of sd, so in case 1 fails to qualify you can quickly switch to another rom thru recovery. I'm using aokp for my nexus, maybe its good for galaxy s too.. it depends on personal taste.

Try the latest CM9 stable rom release. Much more reliable than Sammy stock roms imo
I9000 CM10 nightly
I would recommend CM 9.1 as well. It works great and is really stable.

If you want good battery life, stability and performance, try CM9 Stable, even better is SlimICS. From JB roms CM10 nightly... (also good ICS roms are eg. AOKP, TiramiSlim, RemICS...)
Thanks! I think Ill go with CM9 (with stock CM9 kernel) and as backup option Ill have Slim ICS on sd card.
Other suggestions will be appreciated!

I recommend JB C-RoM BeaN v1.3.4 (the latest v1.3.5 is for release already). All system applications you mentioned above are working fine, super fast and smooth, no lags. Also no Samsung Apps. Google Apps are in a separate Zip file so you can choose to install them or not.
I'm using this RoM now and I can say this is the best RoM I have ever used compared to GB, ICS, and other JB Roms I've flashed.
