Hello,
Is there a way to create backup of current image of Galaxy Note Device and thus the applications, like the process mentioned for Galaxy S at -
How to make an Odin flashable ROM
or
[SCRIPT] ROM Packager [UPDATE 7/2]
Would any of the above process work for Galaxy Note.
Is there a way to take backups of applications without rooting the device. Nandroid and Titanium backup are there, but I believe they work only for rooted devices.
Thanks.
would like to know to

I was wondering why still no dev worked on this important feature.
I help my friends flashing Tabs and phones. what my question is, why there is no way to Ghost/clone a Tab like we have for computers. i think it can be done though Odin Flash if someone really try it. i mean repeating the same thing on every device is like waste of time.
can any one out there have a solution for this?
You may wanna check rotohammer's roto backup.

Hmmm didn't see the above reply for some reason...
Simple answer, nope there is no ghost/clone for Android devices,
If you want to fully backup your Galaxy Tab rom/kernel, the only method I know of is the the roto backup method.
See the above poster's link or "XDA Galaxy Tab Bible" and search the very helpfull guide/directory for "Roto Backup" and "TaBackup & EasyKernel Backup and Restore"

Not true at all.
Amon RA recovery has Nandroid backup/restore for devices he supports. It's a full rom backup that can be restored easily.
Just make a nandroid backup. Easy.

What's not true about it? Ghost is a tool used for drive cloning. It takes a snapshot/image of your drive or partitions on your drive, for the purpose of duplicating/replicating to a new/replacement drive. Ghost is generally not used to backup individual files. As for nandroid, if i am not mistaken it is not useable (for Galaxy Tabs) until you flash with a custom rom that includes CWM or unless you try the BETA of CWM for Galaxy Tabs. The only problem with that is that only 2 North American providers (recoveries) are supported (and I personally would not rely on a beta for backups), so if your provider is not supported then Roto Backup method is probably the way to go for now.
I guess none of the above will solve my problem. say if i make a backup, than again my new tab have to be rooted with the same kernel flashed to restore it.
i need something like norton ghost. zip zap zoommm.. one file will root the tab, will flash kernel, will flash Rom i mean will clone the entire tab.
rotohammer has done that with his tabs. Read his thread on how to do a roto backup and restore.
Since the iemi and serial number is within the operating system, cloning would be a disaster.
I just purchased a N7000 and am waiting for delivery. I'm fairly new to Samsung Phones and this will be my first GSM phone.
What is the best way to backup the stock, unrooted image and /EFS? I did do a search and nothing specific to the Note came up and I would have thought the Wiki would have included something but I didn't see it. In the past I would have looked for block devices and just dd the partitions over to my PC. Does this hold true for Samsungs? Is there an easier way to do it from Odin?
I would appreciate any links and insights on starting my Note experience on the right foot.
Thanks

You can do virtually nothing of the above unless your Note is rooted. However, once you get root permission, you can
1. backup your complete system from ClockworkMod Recovery (so-called nandroid backup)
2. backup all the apps you install and their data with Titanium Backup or some other backup app
3. backup EFS with EFS Pro
But you don't actually have to backup your stock Rom at all. There's tons of them here at XDA, and all of them are easily flashable via PC Odin. The only thing you stand to lose if something bad happens is your apps, and that's not the end of the world. You can always reinstall them manually, it's no biggie.
Hope this helps.
Thanks, I new about rooting and nandroid. EFS backup is new to me. How are these posted unrooted stock images being created? Are they just updates or are people pulling them from phones? If they are pulling them from a phones, that's what I am looking to learn how todo.
I use to have Nook Color and backing up without rooting could be done but in that case your could boot into ClockWork from a bootable sdcard. Too bad phone Manufacturers are not so nice to allow booting from an sdcard.
Hey all,
I'm rooting my Galaxy Note to install ICS Stunner for the first time, I have rooted my HTC Desire so I do have some experience, hell I even had to do a bit of hex-editing for that!
I've got the general idea of what to do but I still haven't found out if my apps will get wiped when I root my phone.
My kernel version is LC1 and Build number is GINGERBREAD.XXLC1 - I found that this can't be rooted the easy way by dr. ketan and have to use the PC Odin tool to flash the N7000XXKK9 rom - but this will wipe my apps and data?
Is there any way of backing up the apps and data on my LC1?
Thanks!

Why would you want to try to flash a Beta on an expensive phone when you don't even know what Odin does?
It's your ass.
Odin does wipe your apps and data, and replaces your build -- Make sure it's the correct build. Other wise you'll have a piece of shiny paper weight.
Use Titanium Backup (or any other backup app that doesn't require root), and backup to your microSD if you want to make sure your apps and data is saved.
ICS Stunner is a pretty complete rom and even if samsung release their ICS for note soon, I prefer the stock android to touchwiz (which samsung will never provide). It is pretty difficult to brick the Note.
My main question is that can I root my LC1 Note without loosing apps and data? So then I can use Titanium backup to backup what I need before flashing ICS Stunner.
If you are still on stock unrooted you can backup manually using Kies or some free apps available in Google Play, like Airdroid. Rooting does not wipe your data/apps. The method shown by dr.ketan is basically there to show you how to root your phone safely.
From what I've read around the forums, I cannot root my version LC1 using the conventional method and that I have to flash a rootable rom through Odin, I'm now guessing there is no way to save my apps data...
Re download them? If you don't have a million different useless apps, then these shouldn't be much of a problem. Then there is Titanium Backup...which I think is utter garbage, but to each his own.

Lets face it once After that you can always restore the backup !!
Take the hard step of losing all apps and data (can save some using google, kies and some free basic apps) once to unleash the beast within!!
Cheers!!!
Enjoy your Note!!
There's a thread in the Developers section with pre-rooted stock roms. You can just flash any of those (though I suggest you just take LC1) with Odin without increasing the counter and if you don't tick the re-partition box then all your apps and data should still be there when you've flashed the rom. Then just install CWM Recovery and Titanium, backup everything and flash any rom you like.
Worked like a charm for me.
But it says LC1 is not directly rootable? Update: Ah I was looking at wrong thread, OK this is what I need, thanks man!

Rooting will not delete your apps and data.. you better take back up using titanium back before routing just to be safe..
Titanium Backup requires root access. Which means you cannot use it if your Note is still unrooted.

Is it showing blank entries or only stock samples? If showing blank entries, try to open one and do a small scribble then save it.

I was following this thread here: [IMPORTANT][GUIDE] What to do after you have bought your Galaxy S3 4G GT-I9305? and I got a bit lost in part 6.
I've done following:
1. Kies and drivers and on PC
2. IMEI/NV backed up on PC (USB modes set forth and back)
3.-4. Rooted and CWM recovery installed
5. Nandroid backup taken on external SD
6. Soo I got my backups secured in 2 locations..but what now?.. It says I have to go to part 2 and continue where I left off?
quote:
"Remember where you left off in 2nd step above? Well now you can go back and complete the partition backup of the efs folders. You should be left with 4 backup files for this final section of the backup process >>> http://splashurl.com/o7hwdsr"
But there is no mention of efs folders in part 2-link. I'm confused. I'm not native english speaker, so that messes up things sometimes.
BTW I did install Cerberus ROM at some point (Don't ask me why. Love the features, but don't know if there's any benefit it being flashed).
So I'm Rooted, CWMed and installed Cerberus ROM. I guess I have no stock ROM anymore?
And last: Is there a place you can search stock ROMs?
Edit #X: I found stock rom for what I have in phone. Galaxy S 3 LTE GT-I9305 I9305XXBMI3 Android 4.1.2

My first language is English and I didn't quite get it either. But following all the steps gave me nandroid backup and i think the qcn file is good enough for you to restore. seeing as you managed to flash a rom I guess you're all good. I was following the steps too and after I didn't get that part I just went ahead and flashed ROM, had no problems, maybe it was an edit error and guide maker forgot to add in something?
Difficult but reads as backup EFS to me and its no harm to have more than one backup .
So I'm Rooted, CWMed and installed Cerberus ROM. I guess I have no stock ROM anymore?
Correct.

Would have I been stock ROM without cerberus ROM flashed?
Hello everyone
I borrowed a Galaxy Advance with "mobile star" rom that based on version of Android 2.3.6, without Root and with original recovery.
The device has data and applications on it.
i want to reset the device before i start to use it.
but before that, I would like to perform a full backup device (like nandroid).
when i need to return the device i would like to restore the galaxy advance to the starting point i got the phone.
I would prefer not to do root to the device if it not necessary.
how can i do full backup?
thanks
