Hi,
I tried CM7 on my milestone but found the latitude does update the position even I disable the Gmap hack. It updates then position only when google map is running.
I did search on Google and found similar issue on android.doshaska.net/cm7
Can you please let me know if any setting missing or any other ROM runs latitude well?

Hi All,
I was searching for an app that will show the GPS position of my phone realtime in Google earth. I found Ipoki (www.ipoki.com). It's a great app for tracking phones in google earth and google maps in realtime.
However.. The app keeps crashing on my phone on random intervalls. Anyone of you using this app and do you experience the same problems?
Does anyone know a replacement for this app (just in case i can't solve the crashes). It is important that the location can me viewed in Google Earth. I tried latitude, but the update frequency isn't very reliable.
Thanks in advance.
Isn't this the same as Latitude from google maps??
---EDIT---
sorry didn't read good.
Currently there doesn't seem to be any easy reliable way to track an Android device via Google Earth (apart from Ipoki which seems to have trouble on the Hero). Presumably you mean using Google Earth on a PC and creating a network link to a kml file?
The only apps that come close are Instamapper and Glympse, which offer live tracking via a map on a webpage.
I used to use http://www.mgmaps.com/ on Symbian devices; you can configure a auto-updated kml file which sits on a server and you can point to from GE for live tracking. This works really well, but the app doesn't work on Android yet (though apparently it DOES work with the custom ROMs since they support Java). Keep an eye on this as I think it will work well with the new ROM, and I believe the developer is working on porting it to Android.
It looks promising and i am running the customrom from modaco. However can you point me in the right direction? I downloaden the generic app from the site and put it on my sd card. However, the javabox doesn't show the file, so i can't open it.
Check the forums on mgpaps.com, there are users there successfully running it on the Hero.
Hello,
I am using a Nexus One with Cyanogen 6 RC3 on it. I have also flashed the google apps addon pack in order to have those apps.
My problem is the following; Two days ago I was able to use google maps navigation without problem. However now, anytime I use two addresses in Canada (where I live) for "Get Directions", the "Navigate" link never pops up. However the Navigate link is available when I use two US addresses. This is especially weird because if I access the Navigation app directly from my app drawer, I am able to use navigation between canadian addresses.
Just 2 days ago I was able to use navigation from within google maps and suddenly I am no longer able to. People have said to re-install google maps but I cannot seem to uninstall the maps application. Should I reflash the google apps pack?
Further, I apparently had auto updating enabled for maps but am unaware of any update that was applied.
Any help to be able to use the Navigation from within google maps within Canada would be greatly appreciated. I hope it is clear what my problem is, if you need more clarification please ask
Im not sure what the rule is about first replying to your own thread however I do have an update.
I re-flashed the latest google apps pack found here xttp://mirror.kanged.net/gapps/
The pack was the same one that I originally flashed however it seems after flashing now I have navigation functionality from within Google maps again. I am happy to have my problem resolved currently but I am curious as to why my Navigation functionality disappeared in the first place.
Hopefully someone knows or can explain what happened so I can prevent this kind of issue in the future. Thank again for all your time
you can try flashing RC2 back, couse many people are facing this issue!
I'm still experiencing this issue. I switched to Enom's rom to see if it fixed it but nope. My Google maps navigate link is sometimes available and then just doesn't show up other times. I am able to use the navigate app. I tried uninstalling maps with titanium backup and redoenloading it from the market, but I still have the problem with navigate.
Hi !
Is there a way to simulate the Nook's GPS position through Wifi location with Froyo installed (0.5.9) on SD card? Google Maps, Twitter official app, ... I'm (desperately) trying to get my location but fail: I thought this was supposed to work but apparently not Anyone to confirm, or not?
TIA!
does it works on rooted Eclair?
yes 2.1 gives location via wifi
broken in froyo.
I have been using CM 7.2 by squadzone from RC 0 to RC 5.7 then CyanMobile. There was a day when I found out that maps.google.com didn't request any access to my phone GPS (I don't know that's because of the website's bug or the ROM's bug), thus it could not display my location on the map. The reason why I did not use Google Maps app that time was because GMaps kept FC. Now GMaps is fine but maps.google.com still can not access GPS. Some suggestions will be very gratefull.
Hey all,
Tried the board search for a possible solution to my prob, to no avail so far:
I am using a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, GP5110, android 4.0.3.
Fully rooted, avast! security installed as firewall, running in whitelist mode - I rather allow those few application I like internet access and have everything else blocked by default, with the ongoing permission-hunger of most app developers I figured to be better safe than sorry.
My problem: Googles` Maps App is running perfectly fine, however when I try to download any offline maps (settings -> make available offline) it just opens a tab called "My Places", showing my map indicating 0.0MB/0.0MB, download never starts.
I tried whitelisting a number of different system processes - such as was necessary to get the youtube app running - but was not successful identifying the correct ones.
Anybody out there who could help?
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Chris
Can you not turn the firewall off , download the maps you want then turn it back on ? I have managed to download offline maps but avast firewall was not on ..... just a thought.
Would probably work, but I'm rather looking for a permanent solution than a workaround... Thanks for your suggestion though!
Go to settings -> Clear all offline maps
Then open Google Play, uninstall Google Maps, then update Google Maps, Restart Device,
Now it works on mine. There should be a notification section called "Downloaded Maps" which tells you the progress, as well as inside Google maps.
