VPN and [CM7.2-RC0] MiRaGe - Nook Color General

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I searched for this and couldn't find a solution.
I installed [CM7.2-RC0] MiRaGe on my Nook Color and installed the kernal:
- Flashable zip of Dalingrin's encore kernel with his SOD patch applied and compiled with Linaro 4.5-2011.10 toolchain. MD5sum: cd57d64a4d2e4fe04fa554c6d9ebb07b

Everything seems to work correctly, except VPN. I setup VPN, but every time I try to connect to it, the Nook Color freezes within 5 seconds. When I restart the Nook everything except the VPN is working again.
I found people that had similar problems (Their wireless didn't work after though, mine still works). According to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925451 it seemed that it was suppose to be fixed
[3/31/11] - All kernels except Honeycomb: VPN fixed(hopefully).

Can you please reflash the ROM without the kernel? If you have downloaded the latest modular kernel I had posted in my thread, the VPN connection has not been tested before. Please post your feedback in the thread where you have downloaded the zip files.

No problem, I will follow the feedback over here.

He's right, I have to post here for now.
I can reflash it shortly, just wanted to check though:
1.) Will reflashing the rom erase everything I've done so far on it (I'm guessing it will if I "Wipe Data", which brings me to my second question)?
2.) Should I only "Wipe Cache" when I reflash it or do I have to "Wipe Data" too?
Thanks for your help

Where are people finding 7.2? I do not see that in the listed CM7 ROMS.....

Ok, I wiped the Cache, reflashed just the rom, wiped the cache again, wiped the Dalvik Cache, and then rebooted. Tried to connect to VPN and it did the same thing. It connects to my VPN and then within 5 seconds, it locks up.

It seems not a kernel problem then. I have no way of checking a VPN connection now. If that is not a problem on the other side of connection, I would recommend trying an official nightly from the CM site.

I don't think it is a connection problem, because my Atrix with CW7 on it connects with no problem to it.
The Nook Color will rarely leave my house anyways, I just wanted to see if I was doing anything wrong and make sure people know this seems to be a problem.
Which of these kernels do you recommend for now then (VPN isn't that important, rather have a better performance device):
Flashable zip of Dalingrin's encore kernel with his SOD patch applied and compiled with Linaro 4.5-2011.10 toolchain. MD5sum: cd57d64a4d2e4fe04fa554c6d9ebb07b

Based on Dalingrin's encore kernel, built a modular kernel by configuring the uncommonly used features (they are still available) as kernel modules. There seems to be about 20% increase in the free RAM (available to the apps and cache) after first boot on my nook. If you want to try, here is the link. See this post for more details

Seems like you would recommend the one with 20% more memory, but your still testing it.
Thanks for your help. Sorry I can't post in the other forum where this would probably be more appropriate.

I have been using the modular kernel just fine since several days now. There are also no problem reports after about 200 downloads. So, I recommend the modular one.

Thank you for all your help and putting this rom together.

CM7 Nightly Build 39?

Has anyone noticed that there is a new nightly CM7 build available - 39? Its dated today, but I haven't seen anyone talking about it. Has anyone flashed it yet, and if so, what has been changed since stable build was issued?

Thanks, but I went there, and nothing came up, just a blank black screen.
I was really just trying to see if anyone had actually tried it yet. I didn't see anything in the developers thread either.
You'll want to use something other than IE to view the changelog site (and the internet in general). Chrome works fine.
CM7 has a pretty wide audience so more often than not the dailies are not going to do much for the NookColor specifically. Most the time if there's a NC specific feature bump there will be a bunch of new threads pretty quickly.

yeah same here, if you upgrade from stable you might need to reinstall gapps, i know i did.
now you can do screenshots
if you install without doing any wipes then it retains your gapps and settings

--->>>>CM7 Nightly's Build's Discussion & Thoughts<<<---

Please use this thread for all your discussion about the Nightly builds for CM7 for the Atrix. It is important to note that Nightly Builds are not for most Users
Things to know about Nightly Builds:
Not Stable releases
Will have bugs / issues
Not intended to be used as main everyday ROM
Are not Fully Supported like Stable Releases
Should not be used by people that are not Masters of ADB
You Should be comfortable enough to recover from soft bricks On your OWN
90% chance you will be wipping your data (factory reset) at some point and time
DO NOT REPORT ISSUES ON NIGHTLIES ON THE BUG TRACKERFAQ FOR ATRIX NIGHTLY'sNightly builds can be found here:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=olympus
Also would like to add that BACKUPS are your friend if you are not comfortable with t0dbld's sugestions. Thanks for starting this thread and for the teams dedication.
Is or are the Dev team also creating different tweaks/builds seperate from Cyanogenmod or will the teams work just be incorporated into the nightly builds?
Excellent! Allrighty, lets kick off this party with a bang. First off, thanks to all the Devs and others who made this a reality. Nightly builds = awesome. After installing this with the latest version of Gapps, everything is working beautifully. Very excited to see where this is going. Faux123's stopgap kernels WILL work with this build so far and I have tested them. Only thing I've noticed so far is that, for the first time for some reason, I am unable to buy an app from Market and bill it to my AT&T account. Option seems to have disappeared. I've heard of others discuss this, and I'm assuming that the change language to English fix will work with this, but haven't tried it yet. Umm...ring lock screen seems to be working with less lag than before. Other than that, have nothing else to report at this time. Thanks again all, and happy flashing!

Hi, May i know this rom can support the Fingerprint and the webtop?
what the different with another CM7 (non nightly ver) , quite blur here.
thanks.
You might find it being offered by someone willing to make a workaround to get it to work. Being that "Android" didn't put the fingerprint scanner in the phone and no other phone has one, you'll have to wait for someone to actually make a script that can be added to CM7.

I'm seeing things about "FM Radio" on the nightly change log. Does the atrix have FM Radio capabilities?

I've been running full #2 today, full wipe. Only problem I've had is battery life. I could get 24+ hours with the previous betas...I'll be lucky to get 10 at this rate. Nothing in the stats stands out. Guess I'll wipe and install #3 tonight and see how it goes.

I got that when I updated to the stopgap version. Just use Titanium Backup to backup your market apk and then uninstall it. Restore it and use the "App Only" option and do not restore data. After its done simply open Market and add your account.
You're good to go after that.
I wasn't sure if I'd run into any challenges with the latest nightly, but nope! Running smooth as butter. Using faux's latest 1.45ghz OC kernel too. Didn't wipe from scratch, just cleared Dalvik cache and hoped for the best lol (and did a backup of course)

[ROM][KANG]CM9 ICS 10.1 WiFi Preview 03/04/12

Hello everyone,
as the old KANG build that got posted here is very old I've decided to compile my own builds.
As many people demanded a newer build you can use mine.
Flashing this may brick your device and there is no support from either Cyanogen and his crew or me. You do this on your own responsibility.
This build is not final - it's more an alpha build. If you decide to use it you shouldn't care about bugs.
I'll keep posting updates every day (if there is any reason for it). There will be no guaranteed support and I won't add user-specific features for anyone.
This is not my work - it's mostly from Pershoot & Cyanogen. This build uses Pershoot's GitHub as base for the device.
If you like the builds you're welcome to donate for some Club Mate / Beer and new hardware.
Works:
WiFi works
No more SOD or display flickering
Buttery smooth
HQ Videoplayback
USB Transfer - use the MTP mode and stop complaining about ICS
Doesn't work:
Camera doesn't work
I will not provide detailed Changelogs. Read CM9 Gerrit ICS & P4Wifi for that.
You can find the official app in the Android Market for 1 €:
https://market.android.com/details?id=de.messerschmidt.tabkang
It supports direct reboot (normal and into the recovery) and downloading the newest rom (incl. version-check) from my private FTP.

Installation:
Flash CWM if you've got none (I'm using the Overcome one)
Backup your current build
Wipe data
Flash my build
Flash the Gapps
Reboot (may take a few minutes)
Enjoy
USB MTP:
As some people requested me to do a little How-to for enabling MTP-mode:
Go into the settings
Choose storage
Tap the 3 dots in the upper right (menu)
Choose "USB computer connection"
Check "Media device (MTP)"
Done
Notice:
This is a pure Android rom and no Samsung rom. There won't be any unneeded additions like TouchWiz, My Files, or whatever.
Look in the Market for other/better apps if you're seriously missing something. I won't any additions/apps/whatever to this rom except I want to use it myself (not gonna happen).

The display isn't flickering anymore and I didn't get any SODs anymore.
How suitable for everyday use is this build, beside of the above mentioned issues?
Gonna go ahead and subscribe to this and see what issues there are.
Not sure how much longer I can hold out for official CM9/ICS.

Now that the flickering is fixed and SOD, I'd say it's well suited for daily use.
P.S. It also seems to be alot smoother, and you now get Terbuchet settings. Only thing missing for me is the camera.
is it safe to overinstall over DaAwesome1's ICS Kang, or must I wipe?
Does anyone know please, whether the cm9 kernal supports undervolting?

Basically a wipe shouldnt be needed. Test share your experience.
Does Netflix work? I'm this close to jumping on this.
This is just a whole new CM9 from the build posted earlier. The old build worked very smooth, as long as you didnt fill it with lots of user apps and widgets then it became very laggy. I have now restored all my apps 250+ and its still silky smooth, i have widgets with sync on several windows and app shortcuts and it still behaves as if it where just installed (empty). this sure gives hope for our tab. Go CM Team and thanks to OP for posting this build.
This build is an improvement over the prior kang, seems the CM team has been busy over the holidays. Smoother UI, screen flickers are gone, definite daily driver material. Will report back if I run into any problems.

CM9 Random Reboots

I recently installed CM9 .06 on my touch pad and it was working great for a few hours. Then i restarted the device and now the wifi wont come back up and it keeps rebooting all the time. Has anyone else see this issue ?
This should be in Q&A, but yes I have, I switched to the Nightlies and haven't had it happen since.
Sent from my HP TouchPad on CM9 using Tapatalk
Thanks I will look over again the Q&A and try to download the nightlys also.
Though has anyone seen an issue with the email app ? After the app configures it just keeps saying "waiting for sync". I havent seen anyone else say anything about this
Sounds like it's either a problem with your configuration or your gapps package. Either try a new one or check your info.
Also, I highly suggest trying the nightly builds. The latest one is excellent- touchscreen is fixed, wifi strength is better, better speed, and more features. And the reboot fix is applied.

After flashing the gapps you need to flash the fix file as well. Just be sure to wipe cache and dalvik before flashing. Also, this does not belong in this section.
I saw there are a few different verisions of GApps. Is there one that i should be using ?
