Is there any way to change the timeout settings for voice input? Here's what I mean, I go to "Voice Search" and begin saying what I want it to search for, but if I delay to long in between words, it will (time out) think I am done and start the search. It is especially troublesome when trying to reply to a text using voice because unless I say my sentence all in one breath, it will cut me off.
So is there a way to add breathing time when using the voice input?

Is there a way to make the phone vibrate once instead of 3 times when an sms message is received?
Can anyone help with turning it off from SMS's ? I have a cooked rom with Voice Commander so I don't want it vibrating too. I have my Ring Type set to Ring although I sure someone will say that the ringer settings have nothing to do with SMS's

I think it's set to that considering that if a phone call is received it'll vibrate once and for a long time. Which to me, is useful to distinguish a call from a text.
I know of no software that could modify though...
It's OK, I found the option box in the Sounds and Notifications settings to have vibrate on or off for the New Text Notification

Can somebody please help me get it back? It's a little window that appears on the screen when I'm on a call.
Thanks,
M.
Is this this option?
Open the dialer, settings, Incoming voice call pop-up.
Thanks! That's for incoming calls and I have that option checked already. What I meant was a little green window (or simply a bar) floating on the screen when you're on a call and the dial window is in the background (you're doing something else). It allows you to tap on that window to get back to the dial window. Not sure if I explain it correctly.

anyone know how to disable this annoying feature, I keep hitting that button in error - why is it not a slider like the rest of the lockscreen call handle function, extremely extremely annoying
They go to all the trouble to protect from accidently answering or rejecting a call with a slide button then they put this button right were you would hold the screen and it is just a touch to activate, They should have at least made it a slide upwards or something.
I wonder how much carriers make from this ?
call is rejected from caller (minimum charge applied)
sms sent to caller (sms charge)
caller redials (another minimum charge applied)
what a circus
Sony please fix this
You are not charged if you reject call.
Only if you are in hell of a country then maybe.

well regardless it is still a serious issue with no apparent solution
is the message not an sms ?
apps or alternative lockscreen is not the solution either as it bypasses my lockscreen security which is set to disable turning the phone off

I can only think of three options right now:
1. Don't touch the phone while it's ringing, perhaps hit the volume button to stop tone - this can be annoying.
2. Decompile relevant files and manually remove code for it (this is xda DEVELOPERS and everyone can do this right?)
3. Wait for other people who have better solutions
Please post your questions in the Q&A section.
Thanks

Long story short, I have a friend who has a slight skin condition (little keratinous bumps). Much like someone who is a habitual nail biter, she will start picking at them, and will actually end up going too far and bleeding/potentially scarring.
She uses her flashlight on her phone to do it, for the contrast. She has asked me for help, to ask if there is a way for me to receive an automated notification (SMS would be preferable, but email is okay if it is easier) when she uses her flashlight on her phone.
Preferable would be "if flashlight is on for more than 30 seconds, send notification" to avoid false positives, but if it's easier to just do it every time the flashlight is on, all the better.
I know Tasker can likely do this, with plugins or without, but my first experience with Tasker was literally downloading the app and dicking around in it last night.
Any and all help sincerely welcomed.
It's not straight forward to attempt to monitor the torch state. So a quick way to do what you want is to remove the quick tile she uses to turn on the torch and replace it with one that turns the torch on through tasker.
Create a task that toggles the torch on then on the next run of the task back off again. That same task sets a variable, then on the next run clears the variable. This task gets assigned to a quick setting button or widget on the home screen.
Then use a profile to monitor the state of the variable, when the variable is set do a wait action for 30 seconds, and send the SMS. Inside the action to send the SMS, use an if statement that the variable is still set. This way of the torch had been turned off, the message won't be sent.

I've been digging around trying to find an answer, and I think the only one I found was https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/disable-floating-popup-call-t3142001 which essentially says you need root / can't disable it.
When making a phone call (not an incoming call, but during an active call), if you switch to a different app/screen, a green floating pop-up bar appears. You can drag this bar all over the screen, but I really couldn't care less about it. It's not useful to me as the only status it shows is the call duration. If it at least showed my microphone/speaker status, it'd be useful. But I really couldn't care less how long I've been on a call.
Is there any way to disable or otherwise configure this feature? I can't even figure out what it's called.

Go into the default dialer app and select the Dial tab. Click on the 3 dot menu in the upper right and select Call Settings then select Additional Settings. There is an option called "Show voice calls while in an app". Select that and you have the option to change from a pop-up.

That's only for incoming calls. He's talking about the in-call timer floating button. Never have been able to disable it since G2. It sucks and is annoying af.

Yes, this is exactly it. Stinks that there's no way to disable it. It's almost entirely useless.
