flashing a few rim and back up. - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
Just to check if I would make a backup using cwm before flashing rom. Would I be able to revert back the original rom by using the back up from cwm?
Thanks in advance!

Nandriod backups flash rom?

When you do a Nandriod back does that also flash the original rom the backup was made on or do you need to do that seperately?
Yes it does, a Nandroid backup is basically a full, complete backup of your phone. That's why its always a good idea to do it before flashing a new ROM because if it doesn't work,. You can go back easy.

[Q] So.. I screwed up my Cricket Zio.. and I need help..

I accidentally deleted the stock rom for it, thinking CWM backed it up, and the phone won't boot into recovery mode, so I can't flash the OpenZio custom rom onto it. Any ideas?

You don't need a rom on your phone to go into recovery, please give some more info. How did you delete your stock rom? What issues are you having when trying to go into recovery? Etc.

[Q] nandroid back ups

i'm just wondering, i did a search of the forums and didn't find anything but sorry if this has been posted or asked and answered, when i am restoring a nandroid back up do i have to flash the kernel through fastboot before restoring or does nandroid restore that as well?
I believe you'd need to flash the kernel as well that was for that nandroid back up.

Yes, depending on the rom you will need to flash the kernel before you flash the rom or else you will get a boot loop.
Thank you very much. both of you.

[Q] Xrecovery

If I backed-up my phone using xrecovery, then i flash new kernel and rom, then after that I used xrecovery again to restore. Will my phone be in its original state when I backed up? I mean all? also the kernel and rom? I
just want to make sure so that if 3 hours (this night) isn't enough to flash and put apps back to normal after i flashed new rom, I can just restore to get everything fine by tomorrow. =)
No you need Flashtool to get the kernel back.
And stock rom doesn't work on custom kernel!

Dear all,
Please help me as I already rooted my Galaxy note n7000 and installed AOKP jelly bean 4.1.2 but I want to get back to my original stock rom as it was ICS 4.0.2. but I am afraid to do something wrong.
you can just do wipes on the recovery and flash a stock ICS rom using PC Odin

If you want to keep the root, restoring nandroid backup will do..no need to flash the stock kernel again until & unless you want to unroot..once you restore the nandroid backup, you will get the same kernel on which you were, when you were making the nadroid backup..for stock kernels click here
