EXT-SD card R/W speed issue..! - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I'm on CM9 BUILD 8 (USB_Mass mode) and the ext sd card (Class4 8Gig ) speeds were too slow around 145kB/s wtf ??(on card reader @ 2-3 MB/s) and my Int @ 2-3MB/s, can't even copy pictures or any files and it gets hanged up on my Win7 PC, is this the issue of CM9 ? or Did my SGS's SD module got screwed up?
any help would be appreciated thank you .

Sorry guys !!
My sd card got screwed it's the same on windows too & another ext sd from my phone's working properly @ 3MB/s, my SGS is alright .

MIcro SD Woes!

Hello all, I recently upgraded to the ATT Fuze and then installed an AData 8 Gb MicroSD card. The issue is sometimes the phone will not detect the files in the card. So if I restart my phone everything works fine and the phone sees all files in the SD card with 80 mb used. If I restart again the phone takes a long time to view memory of the storage card and then shows nearly the entire 8 gb used. File explorer show the folders but none of the files in the SD card.
Anyone see this issue or how to resolve it. I have already replaced the phone once. SD card works perfectly when used in a laptop.
Please help
Wrong section or do i misunderstand?
I am sorry if it is in the wrong section. Which section should it be in?

SD card broken? Wad the?

hi all~ last night , i turn on my phone and there's a warning saying sd card broken please format , i 've encountered this problem two times before and i just formatted it because the SD card was rather empty that time and i thought it would be fixed after i format it , but now after downloading a ton of songs i can't afford to redownloading them , so is there a solution and why is this happening?i now use an old 2GB memory card and all is fine so far ..
specs
rom:GDX v21
memory card : 8GB class 10
kernel:stock

My sd card is killing me !!!t.t

hi all ,when i 1st used a rom (any rom )there must be a friggin ton of problem ..so when i updated to GDX v21 i expected trouble, so yes it's a little buggy but i fixed / the problem just went away ..so theres just one problem which is a true , but then this problem is just presistant and i can't fix it ...=( so heres's the problem , the sd(8GB class 10 ) in my phone will say it's damage please format , so i did , but then the whole phone restarts without fixing the problem , so i tried 2 more sd card a 2gb class 6 and a 8gb class 10(?) micro SD card they all started fine but then it encountered the same problem , i faced this problem a week ago and i cant fix it , yesterday the memory was abler to be read and then today it says SD card error again.WTF??? i tried factory reset but it's still there use CWM and wipe dalvik and battery stats , no resolve i cant flash cause my sd card is dead , imma using PCC to flash my phone later but is it cause of SD card problem or isit my phone sd card reader is buggy?
details
-SE w8

-problem -SD card unable to read (says SD card is damaged) tried 3 diff sd card but all same
-well maybe a little off topic but my DSP manager seems to lags the phone badly when i turn on equalizer for speaker
Is your sd card kingston? I have the same problem, and found out that there is a compatibility problem with kingston 8gb.
SE claims to have solved it with an update but this is for stock rom users. So not me. I don't know if anything can be done and if any of our fantastic (slurp slurp) developers could help.
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
mine is apacer 8GB ...it's so dam annoying i flash back to stock but still have problem i flashed like 6 times now and it's finally ok...can read sd card so far...but still going to the retailer and asking for a refund if the problem occurs

Not able to confirm again ...
There's a 8GB Kingston Class 4 in my X8 which is working perfectly fine since the last 7 months (GDX v021 on Stock Kernel).
However, as there's been another one posting about SD card problems who also has a Class 10 mSD ... I would rather say the phone seems to have a problem with Class 10 Micro SD cards ... given my Class 4 and some Class 6 (if you search the X8 section) work flawlessly.

so i tried 2 more sd card a 2gb class 6 and a 8gb class 10(?)

The 2GB Class 6 _should_ work, given we have some posts around where people use a Class 6 mSD successfully.
But, as I said above, I would be cautious with Class 10 mSD's as there not only yours which gives trouble.
for some reason my phone is a magnet for trouble ...
I spoke to the guy that sold me the card and he told me to go by the store and try with either a kingston 8gb class 4 or an apacer 16gb class10 (that's what he has in store). I guess i'll try the kingston but i'll be away for a week so I'll have answers next week.

Same here mate. Perhaps we shouls start a club.
haha yea...we are really poor souls =(
damn it i tried my sister's sd card ( just to confirm my problem ) i connect it to pc and all is fine ...then i click turn off usb storage and it says blank sd card ...i guess i cant confirm it's the hardware problem
Just as a related note now that I checked back...
The other guy who had about the same SD card problems was using a Verbatim 16GB Class 4. Seems as the X8/W8 is somewhat picky when it comes to the brand (manufacturer) of a SD card and the related class.
As I wrote in that post - either try the card in your phone right there in the shop (if the clerk agrees to it) or strike a deal that you can return the card in case you have severe troubles due to compatibility issues.
as always thanks BJ! you helped me so many times! so yeah i called my dad to send it to the repairman but i doubt it's the sd card problem since the other 2 i tried also failed to read ...it could initially until i restart the phone or connect it to usb then it will get the warning..i suspect its the hardware problem

u r making a partition by which way? if u made it ext2 so rest of them will be available as a sd memory and other memory reserve for apps. install link2sd that will show u if u r in GDX install root browser and find sdext u will know everything

[Q] 8GB card is not working on my x8

Hello everyone.
Well my question is regarding my sd card, i have a 8gb sd card in for my xperia x8, it was working fine untill yesterday when i tried to listen to music and the whole phone froze. from that moment on the phone is not reading the sd card, i even installed froyobread (nice rom btw) but still the sd is not reconigzed in the phone.
The sd works fine in my pc, i can open it and everything but i cant format it (says that windows could not perfomr the format), i tried a 2gb and a 4gb sd in my phone and they work just fine.
What do you think? is a sd problem even tought i can read it in my pc and my camera? do you know any program to repair/format the sd and check if it works again in my phone? could it be some kind of problem with my phone that dont allow it to read 8gb+ sd cards?
Thx in advance
oh and the micro sd has no "lock" thingy xD
