SAMSUNG GALAXY S flashing stock without usb - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way i can flash the phone to another rom without using usb?

Hey, you might want to give us some more information.
Wich rom are you currently on?
You could download a rom wich is based on stock samsung roms, like F1 innovation etc wich is flashable trough Clockworkmod recovery.
However, i've encountred some problems with bootloops and such when ive flashed stock over cm7/miui.
But you can give it a try, be sure to make a nandroid backup
* chances are that if you flash a stock rom, you'll have to flash back to the rom you were on before, before you can restore the nandroid backup succesfully.
Otherwise, Odin has come with an app in Market, havent tried it out yet doh.
Hope this helps you!

Preparing HD for Waranty Return?

I have to send my HD back to UK from Australia for repair (because my Wi-Fi fails to turn on most of the time).
I bought it from handtec.co.uk and it had the Orange_UK_1.14.405.3 ROM preinstalled (Unlocked).
However, since I bought it I have flashed if several times using HardSPL but I didn't backup my original ROM first.
Question: If I re-flash it with Orange_UK_1.14.405.3 ROM from this site then remove HardSPL do you think they will accept or reject my warranty claim?
Or is there some other method I should use to prepare it for warranty return?
Thanks

Better safe than sorry... If you put back the original rom and the original spl, both of which should be somewhere in xda, I don't see where they'd be able to tell... I know of no other method for preparing a handset for return.
When I sent my polaris back to HTC USA, the lady I spoke with said it was fine to leave the custom rom on it, and I did, and nothing was said to me because it was there. I guess it depends where you're sending it back to...
--Jesse
because of the data protection act they wipe the phone so they probably wont know that it has a different rom and even so they arent allowed to boot it up properly to find out.
as said before better to be safe than sorry because you dont know how you can trust these days, over eager employee looking for a promotion could try it out - and get sacked for it - and then you fail warranty?
D
I was just wondering what is the differencec between the orange UK ROM and this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=466040

And can someone help me to prepare my phone for the worse case?
I just get my HD for two days...
still looking around and reading alot to choose which coked rom that i will try
1st... but after what happened to our friends here it make me more carefull
so can someone tell me how to make a backup for my stock rom?
is it can be downloaded from HTC website , i allready look there but i cant find...
or maybe just can show me where i can read about this.....
thanks in advanced
The Link I posted above is the htc stock one, I also bought it from handtec and delivered. How do you know if it is orange? as there is no mention of it when you check the rom version So I assume it is HTC stock.
had same worries and found original orange rom
I had the same worries before putting on hard SPL on my device so looked on XDA for the rom and found it. the wiki for hard SPL will tell you exactly on how to reverse it and you should be able to return all to factory settings. Here is the link for the HTC stock rom from ORANGE: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444158
On the same subject, what is the best way to backup a complete carrier ROM on a TOUCH HD before installing a custom one?
i wanna know that too.. im with o2 germany and theres no default rom to be found here =( so i have to save my rom off the phone before flashing to be on the save side. but noone is able to tell me =( or at least noone does (in other threads)

Hi nighty,
I had the same problem, O2 device and warranty incident. You can find the German O2 stock ROM 1.14.207.3 in German-speaking boards like ppc-welt.info or pocketpc.ch, but you'll still have the wrong ROM version displayed on the boot screen (RGD screen). I don't know why this is the case as nobody answered to my questions too
Hi nighty,
hatte das selbe Problem, O2 Gerät und Garantiefall. Du kannst das dt. Original-Rom in deutschspr.
dayum -.- imo it should be easier to READ (-> backup) the rom than WRITE (flash) it, i guess its called READ ONLY MEMORY for a reason
but i guess i have to be pacient until someone can explain how to do so before i can flash

dumping a stock rom is a simple process if you ask a rom chef or a very experienced user. but, since I personally don't do any of that, I would find it as difficult as anyone else having to churn through pages of search results and instructions.
So I started where you and the others wondering the same thing should have started: with the Search button. In a few seconds I found many topics searching on DUMP HD|BLACKSTONE ROM, and after a few minutes, found the actual application called pdocread in the wiki.

[Q] There Is Any One-Click Root For Milestone?

Hello,
I saw that many Android devices, like Desire and the G1, have the 1-Click root feature. Since I don't want to flash any ROM on my device, because the last time I tried to do a flash was on an iPAQ(not the one that I have now, but was the same model), it bricked. Since that, I promised that I would never flash any ROM on my devices, also I don't want to loose all the contacts, photos, videos, applications and other things that I got on my Milestone. So, I want to know if there is any 1-Click rooting tool for the Motorola Milestone.
Best Regards,
Nathan Paulino Campos
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
it works on the milestone.
Thanks very much! I'm going to test it now. Also, that topic should be pinned
Hello,
I'm using Easy Root on mine.
And thanks to it, now I'm using too: Titanium Backup, SetCPU, ClockSync, drocap2 for root users, and BusyBox.
Regards.
Don't forget to take advantage of Wifi Tether
Yeah, rooting let you free to do anything you want!
The other root util is http://blog.23corner.com/tag/universalandroot/ (it does even provide a widget for soft rooting and unrooting).

CyanogenMod?
Why don't flash a CyanogenMod? If you have sock rom, you'll get much more than just root access.
Man, did you realised the last post before you is more than 2years old?

Install clockworkmod recovery on galaxy tab

I've found on xda the clockworkmod for tab. I've a umts phone enabled, nolocked, italian galaxy tab but when i try to install the mod i could choose only verizon, att and t-mobile tab. Wich one i have to select ?
Thankyou

I have an Irish Tab and it would like a nice customization for the upcoming St. Patricks.
Please..
I wish since a few months, there would be CWM for German Tabs
The second I wish, no EXT4!!! The Condition for almost all Roms is this, and two times I tried, my PCs were damaged, so, why not offering flexible methods to flash the newer Roms? Like Roto do?
The solution is the following:
1. Root your tab as described in the sticky
2. Install the apk that unlocks the bootloader (It can potentially brick your device if youre not 100% aware of what you do)
3. Buy the “euro bootstrap“ app from market. Its made by kush and will install cwm.
Note: there is a lot of negative rating on that app because:
If you install the app without unlocking the bootloader, your device will not reboot and you have to flash your tab again.
If this helped you, dont hesitate to hit the thanks button

(i'm italian too)
just flash the koxudaxi kernel and you will have CWM.

EXT4 doesn't do anything to your PC...I'm sorry but you need to read the notes more carefully. It's as simple as flash the EXT4 kernel in odin.. reboot and let CWM do the rest. You're doing something totally wrong if it messes up your PC twice.
Hi Mikroft,
I did it with an ISO-CD, which was described as savest....
So you tell me now, there could be another way, EXT4 Kernel with Odin?
Did I understand you right, that flashing this Kernel do a EXT4-Partition to my SD-Card?
Can I pay in another way for this Bootstrap?
Per PayPal or other Payments?
I hate this Payment-System via CreditCard, and Android-Market would be more powerful with flexible Offers of PAyments.....

Search the forum, there's an instruction how to do it with ADB. Risky though, you can brick your device.
Bout the market stuff, not sure about paypal, there's an issue I'm having with the market in general, the purchase being associated to your "main" email is annoying...
thx, I first read this thread bout heimdall-flash
In answer to various questions here... try CF-Root.
CF-Root's are stock kernels with added root and busybox, and come with ClockworkMod3 (RFS version, not Ext4 conversion needed) out of the box.
and where can i find this cf-root?

My Phone is Stuck at Samsung Logo

I just flashed semaphora kernel with Odin3. I also see that it cannot mount sd card.
What shouls I do?
I have an i9000 which was bought in France(orange). I also just flashed the stock firmware before flashing the semaphore kernel.
Please, help.
Reflash another kernel. Otherwise you have to flash a new stock rom.

Right.
Or think about flash Cyanogenmod 7!
I think you accidentally might have tick on reparation while flashing semaphore !! reflash it being careful. If still not working re-download the kernel and try again.
Detailed method given here

use the tutorial to boot to stock firmware, this should put your phone back to original settings....
wipe everything from cwm

[Q]Firmware for mini2

Hi, i can't find a good firmware for my S6500D. I got into bootloop a long time ago (1 year) and i decided to repair it. I flashed a random firmware and my phone is like crap even at 1.1 ghz. I can't find an universal S6500DXXLD3 firmware, that was the best if i remember corect. Thanks ^^
Well, seeing that you are from Romania and you have the same carrier as I do , I would recommend this one..
https://www.dropbox.com/s/5anvp1y3u0sjrne/S6500DXXLC4_S6500DXXLC3_S6500DORLLC2_HOME.tar.md5
Edit: I remembered why S6500DXXLD3 was so important , you need it for Peter's Rom right ? everyone seems to try that nowadays probably because of the lag present in most cm versions for our phone. If I remember well , I tried Peter's ROM on this firmware and it worked great.

Well ..if you want speed I'd say ..stick with stock gingerbread ...if you are as disgusted of gb ui as I am go with cm10 (i use the 12.26 version, which is also the last one) , in my opinion it's faster than cm10.x and cm11

Try getting it to recovery mode and wipe data/factory reset.
Optional: Flash cwm.
If you can't get to recovery, try getting it to download mode , then disagree with the terms (press volume down key) and try pressing recovery combination fast (VOL+ + VOL- + HOME)
One more thing , I'm curios , where did you buy your phone ? Orange store or sites like emag, cel etc ? Because this is the stock rom for Romania(Orange) ..and I never had any problems with it.

Of course , you can send me a PM anytime . I know it's kind of weird to speak in english seeing that we are both from the same country , but the forum has a English only rule .
