No games....no viruses found?!
Any help?
It could be a driver issue. Any web cams installed? Any incompatible drivers could be the cause of it.

Is there a installation cd that came with the webcam?
-We do what we must because we can; for the good of all of us, except the ones who are dead-
Re-install.
Not because it's the hard (lazy) way to troubleshoot, but because it's the fastest way to diagnose the problem. A PITA i know, but there's a good chance the issue will be resolved. If not, it helps narrow down the problem.
A fresh install is like a change of bedding. A pain to do, but a pleasure to enjoy later!
What is the error on the BSOD? IRQL<1? Bad pool caller?
The best advice I can give you is to isolate when it happens. It may seem "random" but usually there is a common denominator if it is a driver or hardware issue.
Okay
No it didn't come with a CD.
Bought it for $5 on Amazon.
And will check the error next time.

You take it to a computer repair shop so a professional can do it. Seriously, if you don't know what you are doing, don't do anything. I work at a repair shop, and it annoys me when clients try to fix **** themselves and mess it up even more.

These things can generally be diagnosed pretty easily provided its not a 0x124 code.
I would start by checking your event viewer (start/control panel/ administrative tools/event viewer). Check administrative events to see what errors are showing. If there is a bunch of stuff there that you dont understand. You could make a quick custom view to check for hardware errors( right click custom views/create custom view and for source select whea-logger).
If that's too confusing, there is a program that is free that does a pretty good job of finding bsod culprits
www-resplendence-com/whocrashed
Ive used it quite a bit at work(im a tech).
If you are going to reformat and re install make sure to back up all your keys and software info. This is a good program to give all that to you.

It sucks to have to pay someone 65-85 an hr to work on your pc. Its usually not something very difficult to fix and reformatting/re installing your os now days is a very simple process if it comes to that. Especially if you have recovery discs or a recovery partition on your hd.
Id imagine your somewhat technically inclined if your on this website in the first place.

Does anybody know if the Thrill roms, have CIQ?
as many of you know CIQ, can track everything about your device,
and i mean EVERYTHING, so i was just wondering if anybody knows if the Thrill roms being develop here have CIQ in them.

iv read through the news, the thing lives in kernel. Sense and Touchwiz and others may have active carrier IQ parts in them for better tracking...

make sure to back up and read up before you remove it. the att version seems to be required to let the phone run on the stock rooted rom. i just bricked mine after removing it. And to kick me while i'm down, it wont boot into cwm so i can recover my phone. sh*t sucks.

With battery removed hold vol up button and plug phone into computer. You should see a few things installing. Your phone will not actually turn on the way you know it is worlkng is by the fact it connects to the computer. You may need to download a few drivers from the baseband flash tutorial first. Once everything is installed correctly you should be able to install a kdz. That might fix you up.
Is it safe to assume since the Doomed Froyo rom offers a custom kernel then it might be CarrierIQ free? Shouldn't this be a standard request on all new roms in the future?

Yeah I am double posting
Carrier IQ doesn't really matter anyway. Your carrier sees and stores everything you do with or without it. Everything you do goes through your carrier first so if you think removing carrier iq does anythjng to protect your privacy you are sorely mistaken
Oh one thing you can be happy about is ATT only keeps your texts and call records for 5-6 years.
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda premium
Not sure, but if this in the init.rc is what I think it is, I'm going to strip it in Thrillz kernel V3.
Code:
LGE_CHANGE_S [CIQ] 2010-10-21 : adapting patch files
service iqmsd /system/bin/iqmsd
# user system
disabled
on property:service.iq.active=1
start iqmsd
on property:service.iq.active=0
stop iqmsd
# LGE_CHANGE_E [CIQ]
Though Urabewe has a point... If the carriers want the info, they can put it in the Ts&Cs, and skim the info anyways......
Your location, texts, calls, where you made the call from and more are all stored on your carriers servers automatically whether your phone has ciq or not. There is no getting around it and, get your tin foil hats out, the feds DO NOT NEED A WARRANT TO RETRIEVE THIS INFO. THANK YOU MR. BUSH FOR THE PATRIOT ACT

I couldn't agree more. It's one of the worst pieces of legislation ever made. It's insulting to those who actually like this country to call it the "Patriot act". Just sickening. Welcome to the USSA.
More on-topic, I wonder exactly what it takes to neuter ciq? I know that the phone company has all my txts and phone calls and can sniff packets for all my data usage, but ciq is FAR more insidious than that. It allows keyboard logging. This means that they can have the user id and password for anything that I've logged into from this phone. Granted, I have nothing to hide, but I feel that it is my right to hide it anyways. To be secure in my private papers and effects, etc.
I guess I'm really glad that I hadn't gotten around to porting truecrypt for android yet. It would be completely pointless if there's a keylogger on the machine.
-q
I have more proof.

My results from 4 CarrierIQ detectors. I'm running DoomedFroyo V1.0.1
I got 3 yes, 1 no:
Voodoo Detector-Yes
Kintoo Detector-Yes
Bitdefender Detector-No
Lookout Mobile Security Detector-Yes
I would love to test the new kernel wit ciq removed. Maybe I'm just grasping at straws, but could this crapware be.part of our battery issues?
For what it's worth, I know that the carriers have all my text and call data and can sniff packets. It's a stretch to say I'm okay with it, but there's not much I can do. A keyboard logger, however, is TOTALLY NOT ACCEPTABLE. In addition to that, I am not okay with carriers sending snooping data about me over a metered connection that I pay for. Hell no. Spend your own resources on spying, at&t. Not mine!

+1 for Seekdroid
Haven't had to put it to use thankfully but if my phone ever does get stolen, I feel bad for the poor fellow who gets his hands on it... Very powerful app! Can remotely track the device, activate an alarm if you've lost it at home, lock the phone remotely and even do a full wipe, all from your web browser. Currently inside my house and it locates me to an accuracy of 4 meters... And the BEST part, IMO, you can HIDE it from the app drawer on the phone itself!
And as mentioned earlier, Antivirus is not needed. 99.9% of apps that come through the Market are safe.
Thank you all. I am aware that there are hardly any viruses out there for android devices, but i am currently in the midst of trying.. keyword: trying to root my phone, and i dont want to put any viruses from the files i download from the PC, onto my beloved smartphone, so once again thanks guys
and if any one has some free time and would be willing to guide me through the process of getting rid of bloatware (ive already rooted my phone, and backed up everything i just dont know what to do next) i would be willing to ship 10$ =)

FYI common sense doesn't protect you from things such as exploit and web script based infections.
I personally use Lookout. But honestly its not something you need to worry about too much, yet. But I'm sure its going to be a problem next year. Play it safe and only install apps that have high install counts on the market and high ratings.

Well, unless you are doing A LOT of side loading (installing non market apps) from random sites or are using pirated applications there is absolutely no need for anti-virus on a linux based system..
You as the end user are 100% in control of what apps gain permission and using common sense by looking at what permissions your giving said applications is up to you to decide.
The only virus I've heard of was found in china and pretty sure it was a side loaded application and it would steal data like phone numbers and e-mail addresses and the person was selling the information to spam sites.
Like I said though, if your just downloading apps from the android market your fine.

Your right, android already does that. Unless someone writes a script/exploit to get around asking permissions for root since the browser doesn't run as a root application. Android has very high security when it comes to web browsing. Remember, we are talking about linux.
In my opinion the best protection is a firewall, DroidWall does the job well.

We had lost lots of developers like Nik, l0st.prophet because of their handset upgrade. These guys are willing to work on IncS development but unfortunately they don't have handset. I have seen many people willing to donate money and even spare their handset for development work.
Looking all these, I have got one idea.
Can someone take initiative and provide remote access of his PC and IncS for development work to these incredible developers?
I am not software guy or developer. So, I don't know path forward...somebody needs to explore.
but if it is possible, we will be back again in the era of development.

But, I have seen many technical support with remote access, so I just wanted you guys to think and respond if feasible.
If you feel not possible, we can drop this idea.
If the phone is in fastboot and hooked to the computer, you could give full access to your computer, so someone could use it as if he was at your home. But, I fail to see the greatness of this idea.
I have an IncS and I like-it, but I'm a realist. This phone as had better days, and, soon enough, it will be time to jump on newer and better technology.

Lol.
This thread didn't make sense anyway. So, nothing is lost.
I've DJ'd in the past and I'm looking to start making my own music. The thing is, I can play the music but I haven't got a clue about the technical side of it. I'm sure you think this is the wrong forum to post in but they're so many geniuses on here that I thought I'd ask. I'm looking for a PC software with plenty of samples so I could start learning from the beginning. Any help would be great thanks.

There's fl studio for music but that requires a quick and dirty windows mod that involves deleting system 32.

www.Gearslutz.com , baby!
Thats all im gonna say. You can get the app in the Google play store.
You wont find a better forum for your question. Its my other home.
Also since youre looking for a great place to start for your genre id say two things:
Free? Go for Audacity. Google it. Its open source 100% free software for pc I think mac too. IGNORE THE HATERS.
People say its crap but cmon man its not meant to be studio quality.
If you want to spend some cash buy a cheap daw that comes with logic or cubase.
As much as people rip on it Audacity is a great tool to learn from.
I personally prefer pro tools, and use pt10 with a digi003 r+.
Its a great set up.
But seriously gearslutz ftw.
FL Studio is the best for beginners and users that don't need a better software to make music like Spectrasonics Omnisphere.
a friend of me uses fl studio
sony xperia ray
ics 4.0.4 rooted
stock rom
There's in iPhone app for it. That works the best for noobs.
FL Studio (Formerly Fruity Loops) or Audacity (free and very easy and simple). FL Studio is immensely more advanced then Audacity, but for quick montage and simple editing, I always use Audacity.
Or if you're really serious with this, Cubase is the way to go. It's fairly expensive (if you buy it), but it has pretty much everything you could want, even if you go professional. The Mac alternative is Logic Pro.

Well, he is 79...
Things like that happen all the time. He called me in full panic once that he had a virus. "My screen went black and there's this flag moving around!".

I'm assuming "delete system32" was the solution for that problem according to google.
