I am running 5.5.886 and whenever I check for updates it always says the phone is up to date. Is there any way to force it to discover the available update?
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
When the update is pushed to your phone you will see it. It isn't pushed to everyone at the same time. It is done in batches.
I have been checking for the update on my phone constantly since yesterday. The waiting is killing me. Hoping to see this solve the data connection issues.

I just switched back to my Tbolt until the update comes through.
I too, am still waiting to get the update, running 5.5.886 and having connectivity issues as well, Verizon replaced my first unit when i started having this problem, but the new device still has the same issue... Hope this update fixes my $300 calculator.
I completely understand a scheduled push release so not everyone gets notified at once. But why make it so difficult for those that want to upgrade now.

It's been posted in another thread here in the forums, but don't worry - the update is going live tonight.
I just received my update.

Yup, the update is now pushing out across the land.
Happy updating, everyone.
Just got my update this morning. Forever root method worked.

I read somewhere that forever root still works.

Disappearing update
Interestingly, I got a notification to download my update. I told it to download, attached it to Wifi to let it download. IT completed...and disappeared. As in it did not run, and it is not located in the /cache folder (hidden or visible).
Has anyone encountered this?
I am stock with 43v3r rooted, no frozen or deleted bloat. Didn't find a reference in the search or my Googlefu sucks today. I appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Nm. Appears it would not run until I got to a good on-network signal. Then executed and updated properly. Still not sure where the file was hidden though...

Judging by what I'm seeing on some of the forums, it seems as though people are upgrading officially through the System Update option. However, mine continues to tell me that I'm up to date. Could someone advise me on the status of the OTA?

As of right now its still telling me I am up to date through system update as well.

I'm not sure it's been officially released yet, people just got info from here showing that apparently the official version and the leaked version are the same number. I can't verify this as I haven't updated or checked the versions myself, and some folks said the official release might have some other changes included so I'm still waiting. I don't want to get stuck and miss out on something.

From the Motorola web site my understanding is the only OTA update was for special test phones. The soak test hasn't started or you would have seen it posted on Droid-Life as they usually have it as soon as the email has been sent out.
I read there was a problem with the D2G Exchange encryption or something and maybe that is either using resources or the D3 has the same problem. Don't know but I'm guessing something is up or it would have been out by now.
I'm not updating my phone until the official version is out.
I appreciate the response everyone. I, as well, would like to wait for the official release rather than be hasty and install the leak.

Does anyone know if the leak fixes the data roaming problem? My co-worker got his Droid 3 today but cannot use data since we live in an extended network. Bummer for him, but I'm trying to help fix his problem if I can.

Should be able to turn it on in settings. That is what I did. The setting did take a few times for it to stay active, but not had to reactivate the setting in a few weeks.
just wanting to know if anyone with legit wifi hotspot is having issues with staying connected. it seems i can only stay on a couple mins. then i have to manually restart the hotspot. plus, half the time, when i turn off the wifi hotpsot my phone reboots. the only success i have had is using usb tethering. flawless and fast. just not happy with other issues. anyone having the same things happening? Edit. Verizon said to try a couple things and if they don't work wee will try a new phone.
Anyone have this issue?
Was your phone previously rooted?

I had rebooting issues only when being rooted.
i'm having issues
I always have with wifi and the marektplace only. Don't know if that helps but I downloaded the superuser update from the marketplace and fixed my wifi for about half a day. It works on the internet fine so i don't think i've having the same issues as you mine only doesn't use wifi on the marketplace. Must be some binary thing.

Had the issue before rooting. Had issue after rooting too.
I had this issue when I unrooted my phone.
There were a few apps not working right and causing me problems after unrooting.
I backed up my apks, then did a factory reset selecting to format my internal media area.
I lost all my settings, but I never had that problem again.

P3droid released a mod to keep root on any updates.

and I hope that works, I did the exact same thing..
So, I am fearless.. Where can we get the update?
Have they actually gotten the update with a stock Bionic or did they find it online and decide to install it?
As far as I've seen, the current leaked OTA is 5.5.893....5.5.892 was being tested by the Motorola Field Testers and today a small update to 5.5.893 was released so I assume the Motorola Field Testers are now testing 5.5.893.
I wouldn't install anything till we at least have confirmation that it is the actual OTA...otherwise you might not be able to get future updates.

I am running Gingervolt 1.3, with blitzkrieg 2.1 & ICS Responsiveness and over the past few days every time I send a message to anyone they receive the message 3 times. I have not installed anything that would change the messaging (as far as I'm aware) so I'm not sure what is causing this. I talked to Verizon and they are "looking into the matter" but in the meantime it's very annoying because my phone just bombs people with messages when I send them anything.
Has anyone seen this issue? More importantly is there any way to fix it?
I'm curious if this is something even related to Gingervolt or if this is something that is happening in Verizon's hands, their systems or something else. When I look at my message log, it shows the message only being sent one time, even though they get it 3x.
Would reflashing Gingervolt 1.3 possibly resolve this issue?
I had this problem a couple times a months and months ago. Both on a stock phone and then on Revolt. Both instances it was a problem on Verizon's side and they fixed it in about a day. For the life of me I can't recall what they said was going on though..
For the life of me...
I cannot think of a single thing that has changed on my phone in the past few weeks. I have downloaded a couple FAOtD from Amazon but that's about it and I removed them once this started happening, it didn't fix the issue.
I talked to Verizon as I mentioned above, they sent the issue to their "specialists" so I now have been given a 48 hour window for them to resolve the issue. I don't really have much faith in them because this is the second time they have said their techs would fix it, but no results yet...
I really need to figure out what is going on here because I am driving everyone I message nuts with all these duplicates.
Are you using the stock messaging app or one from the market?
In the past few weeks I've been receiving between 3 and 17 of the same messages randomly... blame Verizon, I am. Seventeen!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
This is from the stock messaging app. The one that you get when you flash Gingervolt 1.3.
Mine started doing it today. I just reflashed the gingervolt 1.3, blitzkreig 2.0 and dread ginger.
And I am using goto sms.
Before this morning, I did not have this problem.

Grab a replacement app and freeze the stock. If it keeps happening its server side, if it stops the problem solved, yeah?
I went. The vzw store for a separate reason and asked them abiut this texting issue. The folks at the store confirmed it is occuring but only on Revolution phones. They also said that no patch/fix is ready yet.

The ICS Verizon is using is the 246 leak. The MD 5 matches so you can pull the leak put it into your external SD card . Boot into recovery and flash it yourself. Instead of waiting for the OTA.

I got my soak test OTA yesterday they should release the push for everyone in a couple of days. I was on GB for a week and it sucked. It gave me a whole new appreciation for for ICS.
You can also download and manually load the 246 leak in stock recovery. It's the same file.

Yeah it was rough. The data drops were horrible. Part of the way the soak test goes is that you cannot flash to stock or factory reset your phone after your phone id has been added to the recipient list of the OTA. I wasn't sure when that would happen so I went back to GB the day I got the invitation to join.
Now I know there will be a second announcement the day before the soak, after which you should not flash-to-stock or reset your phone anymore. Good to know for the next soak!

Yeah! My phone is getting the update now. Can't wait for JB! So glad they made that announcement. One got "stuck" on 905 for about a 3 days.
Got the OTA this morning. Phone is very sluggish. Doesn't seem to be any way to switch between 4G and 3g. My imap email is now blank and I am unable to download Chrome from the play store.
Switching from 4g/3g is a must for me as 4G causes static in my Tritton headset. I I use the native mail app for work, so basically this update was a bust.
Also I had chrome on one of the earlier leaks, why can't we download it now?

You are right, I take back the sluggish part. It is now running pretty well, besides the issues that I mentioned. I swear I was able to download Chrome on .232, and not being about to toggle 4g/3g is HUGE for me.
Woke up and checked for updates. Got official OTA ICS this morning! Installed and now doing a Factory Data Reset as many have suggested doing. I'm in Vermont.
I can download the OTA update but it will not install. Please help! I am rooted but have done a factory reset. Do I need to remove Bionic Bootstrap. If so I can't find the .apk anywhere in my system files.
