Has the OTA been released officially? - Motorola Droid 3

Judging by what I'm seeing on some of the forums, it seems as though people are upgrading officially through the System Update option. However, mine continues to tell me that I'm up to date. Could someone advise me on the status of the OTA?

As of right now its still telling me I am up to date through system update as well.

I'm not sure it's been officially released yet, people just got info from here showing that apparently the official version and the leaked version are the same number. I can't verify this as I haven't updated or checked the versions myself, and some folks said the official release might have some other changes included so I'm still waiting. I don't want to get stuck and miss out on something.

From the Motorola web site my understanding is the only OTA update was for special test phones. The soak test hasn't started or you would have seen it posted on Droid-Life as they usually have it as soon as the email has been sent out.
I read there was a problem with the D2G Exchange encryption or something and maybe that is either using resources or the D3 has the same problem. Don't know but I'm guessing something is up or it would have been out by now.
I'm not updating my phone until the official version is out.

I appreciate the response everyone. I, as well, would like to wait for the official release rather than be hasty and install the leak.

$5 says the leak will be the exact same as the "official" OTA. I installed it the first day it was posted. XD

Does anyone know if the leak fixes the data roaming problem? My co-worker got his Droid 3 today but cannot use data since we live in an extended network. Bummer for him, but I'm trying to help fix his problem if I can.

Should be able to turn it on in settings. That is what I did. The setting did take a few times for it to stay active, but not had to reactivate the setting in a few weeks.

Phone doesn't see upgrade available

I am running 5.5.886 and whenever I check for updates it always says the phone is up to date. Is there any way to force it to discover the available update?

When the update is pushed to your phone you will see it. It isn't pushed to everyone at the same time. It is done in batches.
I have been checking for the update on my phone constantly since yesterday. The waiting is killing me. Hoping to see this solve the data connection issues.

I just switched back to my Tbolt until the update comes through.
I too, am still waiting to get the update, running 5.5.886 and having connectivity issues as well, Verizon replaced my first unit when i started having this problem, but the new device still has the same issue... Hope this update fixes my $300 calculator.
I completely understand a scheduled push release so not everyone gets notified at once. But why make it so difficult for those that want to upgrade now.

Disappearing update
Interestingly, I got a notification to download my update. I told it to download, attached it to Wifi to let it download. IT completed...and disappeared. As in it did not run, and it is not located in the /cache folder (hidden or visible).
Has anyone encountered this?
I am stock with 43v3r rooted, no frozen or deleted bloat. Didn't find a reference in the search or my Googlefu sucks today. I appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Nm. Appears it would not run until I got to a good on-network signal. Then executed and updated properly. Still not sure where the file was hidden though...

Which will we get: JB or $100?

http://androinica.com/2012/09/motor...ers/?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=pulsenews
The most interesting part of this for me was the upgrade promise... "If your device cannot be updated because it degrades the user's experience, Motorola will give you $100 to purchase one of their newer devices"...
Which do you think we'll get?
I chose the red pill... Now I'm in the mAtrix and I know Kung Fu... in HD!

It's up to AT&T, for me at least, to release it promptly.

See: ATRIX HD kernel changer in original Android development section... it's for AT&T phones, so no promises it won't screw something up, although it shouldn't.
EDIT: After a second look, it looks like it will only update the kernel, but not the system. :/

Soak tests are kind of a test phase for updates that may (or may not, depending on bug reports) be sent out OTA for everyone else. A few (hundred) people sign up to get the pre-release, and report bugs if any. If very few, or no bugs are reported, the software update is pushed to all users of the device.
My tab's Flyer than yours (unless this is posted in a Flyer thread... Then it's just as Flyer...)
http://android-gz.com
Soak tests are pre release tests of future official software updates.
Sent from my MB886 using xda premium
Soak tests often end up being the final release that goes out over the air, so I like to think of them as release candidate testing.
The current update soak is limited to specific IMEI numbers for people who signed up and were selected to test and provide feedback to Motorola.
Is it still possible to sign up to be a tester? I somehow got into the samsung dev channel when I was researching phones but that doesn't do me any good now...
Also I would bet we see Jellybean before most other phones, but as it's focused more twards tablets it might be a while. Still nice to see updates coming via the soaks though so maybe they are more on the ball than most so maybe this year. But then again AT&T has to have their hand in it too...
I'm sure well get JB. Problem is I'm sure we wouldn't see it for at least a year or so....
I'm for one hoping you guys get jellybean but wouldn't hold your breath with anything Motorola says after what they did to us og Atrix users. Just wrong.

From what I am hearing, the OG Atrix has issues with the specific NVidia chipset. NVidia is not providing ICS compatible drivers. (hence when there are issues with ICS/JB even with the Cyanogenmod build for OG Atrix)

I'd find that suspect as the Motorola Xoom uses the same Tegra2 chipset as the original Atrix.

Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk
Probably a minor update. Haven't heard anything on Elevate unless Sprint is keeping htc out of the loop
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk
Last rumor that circulated said the update for 4.4.2 was going to be around 01/24/14 +/- so if I was a betting man I'd say it is a minor update to fix the issues with the 12/18 update. That and the HTC site that they say provides "real time updates" on OTA development says sprint is still in the integration phase of the 4.4.2 update (certification through carriers and google would need to go pretty fast to make it out by wednesday). I wouldn't put too much trust in HTC elevate though, the entire site seems to be a "pat HTC on the back" community.

It's interesting to see they keep doing this type of small updates instead of go for the big deal. Unless they are addressing some serious problems(like security issues,) they should test the heck out of their one release and make it solid, instead of pushing one and the other just trying to fix the bugs in the fix they just released. it's a PR nightmare to me for these kind of activities.

I joined elevate by follow a link from here, and found it little use. I can't find any valuable information, but just a bunch of people discussing pointlessly. Anyways, HTC is a phone manufacturer, not like LG or SS with all the material, parts, a lot others. So I doubt they can come up with anything revolutionary. They have better software functions, that's true.

It could well be that in their testing these small Sprint features are breaking the OTA and that these features need to be updated just to enable the OTA.

I have been pestering at&t customer service about it as frequently as I can. Maybe once a week.
The chat guys are really nice but they admit they dont know anything about the update. They admit it has been released over 3 months ago (by samsung to at&t) and that they have to sanction it first. They also say "i dont konw, might be never".
I got a chat guy for AT&T to admit that 4.4.2 for S4 was released 2/26/2014
So if it was this recently, note 3's update is probably coming soon.

The title really should be changed.
1: it is misleading and makes people think it has been released
2: it has not been released so this "discussion" is exactly the same as the rest all over the forums.
3: it is a question in the OP asking for an ETA. Not really allowed and nothing has been said or heard on when it comes out. It gets released when it gets released. And since it is a question, it belongs in the QA section.

Doesn't matter to me. I just want to know what difference will it really make? Is this an update just to keep the users happy and make them feel like HTC got their back?
I'm not knocking them or anything, because I certainly don't see myself choosing another manufacturer any time soon...but why claim that 4.4.4 changes were baked into 4.4.3, then give it to use anyway?
5.0 is more worth the wait than that 4.4.4
