[Q] Market Access Unroot - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have new phone which is Galaxy Note. I don't want to try root at the moment since rooting is not mature enough yet.
My previous device is already rooted and it has Oxygen ROM.
Here, how can I access Market without country restrictions? I want to see Market of US. Is it possible to achieve it by the usage of VPN?
Thanks

if you already logged to the market you'll have to clean market's cache and maybe log off.
Then use a VPN and re-login with a USA ip address and it might work.

To those who tried this, any feedback please?
I am getting impatient waiting for the official update to arrive here in Kuwait. Since I can not post this in the development section, I am posting it here.
My tab is not yet rooted so that will be the first thing to do if I will go through this process.
Thanks.
I also live in Kuwait and tried to update it through Kies but there were no updates available. Has anyone else received the update through Kies in Kuwait or the middle east?

If you're ready to move from Stock to ROM and you're looking for a ROM with Arabic full support then I advise you to go for the OVERCOME with its last release ICARUS.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074759
For rooting, you'll find on the install guide the link to the rooting thread. After rooting, you should select the full wipe option.
If you're not sure about any step post your question and you'll get the adequate support.
I'm not at the point where I want to run custom roms. Last I checked, you lose 3g capabilities - IE you have 3g data but 2g phone or no phone at all. Or, you have 3g phone but no data capability. Unless that's changed, I supposed I'll wait a lil longer for the update from Kies

I bought my SGT1000/3G last March and since I flashed the custom ROM on the beginning of June, I felt like I got a newnew Tab. On top of this we're enjoying a new update every 2 to 3 weeks. Any update from SAMSUNG take several months to come. Also my Tab is working fine and enjoying features that are not available on the stock ROM.
If I have any issue I'll never defend such choice.

Hi! Thanks for the reply and the suggestion is actually appreciated. I have been reading that thread for a few days now (not continuously, though) but I believe I am not yet ready for that at this time.
Eventually, I will update / upgrade into that ROM / kernel.

[Q] Rooting Rogers Galaxy S Captivate( Some questions)

Hello! First off thank you for taking sometime to help me out with a few questions about rooting my new Samsung Galaxy S. I've been itching to root it ever since I watched some lag fix videos in aw as to how much better the phone seems to perform, before I do go through with it I have a few questions hoping to be answered. Also last thing my device is up to date with Froyo 2.2.
First off I will be using this : (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682) to root my device, will this work fine?
Second questions is if I root my device and a gingerbread comes out as an official update can I go about updating it normally through Kies?Same goes for google updates like the new market update. (I am not interested in changing the ROM at the moment)
-Will Kies still recognize the device normally as I use it for importing music and such.
Lastly which lagfix should I use? Voodoo? It seems that Voodoo is meant to work with the GT-I9000 or does it work with the captivate too? Or do I use the oneclicklagfix on the Market?
Thank you so much for taking the time to help me and if there's any thing about the phone you need to know please do ask and Ill gladly provide you with extra information.
Thanks again!
Ibby

[Q] Please help me out guys!

A friend of mine asked me to root his phone for him. I personally have a rooted and ROM'ed Samsung Epic so this is not exactly new to me. My first question is what is the best way to root and ROM this phone? After searching around my head is spinning a bit about this. For my Epic I was able to do a one click root that also installed CWM. After that I was able to use Clockwork to flash new ROM's and kernels.Second the reason he gave me for wanting to root was to be able to have WiFi tethering. Am I going to need to install a custom ROM for his phone or is there an app that will give him this feature once we have his phone rooted? Thanks in advance for all of the help!
Quickest, basic answer...
For Root... [APP]SuperOneClick v2.3.2
For the tethering question, he will have to check out a Rom that offers it as one of the options (most do). Don't ask what Rom is recommended, he will have to make the choice depending on his preferences to the specifics offered in a Rom. There are plenty of choices here... Captivate Android Development
Your right about the ROM so I removed the question. I guess I was looking for some recommended ROM's that were stable and everything worked. Thanks!

[Q] Help: JB has ruined my phone. Need ICS back!

JB is freezing my phone, my shift kept no longer functions and half the things don't work. I tried to factory reset and it still has all of the same issues, none of these happened during ICS. Please help, Verizon customer.

and there is no guarentee buying a stock phone will have ics anyway, droid 4 originally came with GS. 2.3.6
There is no way to go back to ICS.
The Mobile Hotspot app works just fine under JB as it did under ICS and GB. The SQL database hack still works, at least it still works on mine, my wife's and my sister's D4's.

Why can't you use the hotspot app? If you are rooted, you can make it work, no problem.

Steve.

I am not rooted, or familiar with that process, I didn't want to brick my phone, what is this SQL work around and does it require being rooted? And what are the dangers involved with rooting? Also, is there a concise guide to rooting a Droid 4 or the SQL workaround that can be linked?
Well if you want to sbf your droid 4 to stock JB rom the file just got posted up today

First off, rooting will void your warranty. As a user in the UK, that warranty was of no use to me anyway, but if you are a Verizon customer, then it's something to be aware of.
If you are happy with that caveat, you should be able to root your phone using the Razr Blade exploit available here... http://vulnfactory.org/public/razr_blade.zip
To get the hotspot working, you need to follow the first two steps here... http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-4-hacks/208266-how-wi-fi-tether-droid-4-a.html (the item number may differ, the important thing to look for is the Entitlement Check entry).
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Steve.

There is a thread for the international version but what you need to do is get an apk that changes your "custom" status to "official" then you will be able check for updates. I do believe this thread will get you started. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2383484
If you have deleted any apks then it may mess up any updates you take. Or go to sammobile and look for 4.4 firmware for your phone and use Kies to install.
The 9005 can receive it's latest update thru kies, or by going into the settings menu, tap general tab, and scroll down to about device, then system update.
I have only change the md5 file with kies not the rom....I wanted to make the phone rooted not to change the official rom...can I correct this problem with my updates without change the official rom from my phone??? Or is there any app to do that???

I am not sure I understand what you are trying to do.
Are you trying to gain root?
Are you trying to upgrade your firmware on your phone?
Are you trying to change something else on your phone?

I see.
The other reply that I made with the link in it. Follow that link and install what it tells you to install.
After you install it you can make you phone show an "official" status which will allow you to check for updates.
I do not know where the guy in the YouTube video got his firmware.
There is firmware available for the SM-9005 at www.sammobile.com but they seem to be country and carrier specific, I do not know as I do not have that phone.
You may be better off getting instructions in this section of XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3?nocache=1&z=7992070960968063
Good luck and be careful not to brick your phone.

You will probably lose root. It will not reset Knox to 0×0.

Sir I think you're looking for opinions on what to do and that's not what xda is here for. You're not even in the right sub forum for your device. We can talk forever about the pros and cons of custom roms over official releases. If you're worried one bit about knox counter, then do the official release. If you're comfortable with modifying your device and you can follow directions, I recommend you focus all your attention to this sub forum for your device here! The omegadroid link you attached can be found here on xda! I highly suggest you read through the 3000+ posts that users like you made. That might make up your mind for you.
