Hi guys can some one please help me..
I bought my Galaxy ace last week with gingerbread 2.3.4 (India) in it. i had taken backup using CWM 4. then i updated to CWM5 and installed " CyanogenMod 7.1-cooper-KANG-RC1 Android 2.3.7 (upd: 12.10.2011)" on my phone. i almost liked this ROm but this ROm eats up my battery very fast.. so i decided to roll back to my official ROM which i had backed up. but when i restore the phone it gets stuck in Galaxy ace screen.
Please help me .. how do i restore my backup.
there were no errors during the backup nor during the restore..
Please help..!!
in cwm do a full wipe and then try to restore backup --> never tried this but somewhere read it works...
if this doesn't work then flash ddkq6 firmware from sammobile.com with odin.. install cwn and rollback backup
try the first one ... second one surely will do it

it has been asked many times ...search forum ..... it is not restoring because cm 7 uses ext format..and stock uses .rfs.... so u have to convert .ext to .rfs before restoring ... this can be done with ext manager ...( comes with cf-root)
Press thanks if i helped.
Wait. Whatever you do, Making a nandroid backup of your stock rom won't work, it tends to create a md5 file mismatch, a few times, and don't ask me how.
Well, I hate to break it to you, but, just use ODIN all over again, load a stock rom, and things should be as light as rain. But then again, you'd revert to that crappy standard recovery, so flash that with cwm, once you're done ^_^
Ooh, and if I helped, click that shiny 'thanks' button, then.

well i don't think ext4 manager will work on cm roms even if they are running ketut's kernel as ext4manager checks the kernel you are using..... never tried it ..ketut might have made it to work on it but no one is gonna change fs to rfs on that kernel
hey i know the last option is to flash thru odin .. but is there any other way to restore it thru CWM.. please let me know..
and ya one more thing i m following this thread to falsh thru odin " http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242925 " Please tell me whether is it correct and safe..

Hi @amitkhetan69...
Sorry to break it to you this way but you are not getting back to stock from custom rom without a full Odin re-flash of stock rom...
Have you tried @Jusada's IceCream Sunday2 (Extreme speed) rom...? Use this rom with a good script that has the ability to manage system resources (check my sig for scripts (V8.5 etc.)). These scripts give excellent battery managment along with many other top drawer tweaks...
There really is no need for you to go through the headache of returning to stock (unless your returning the phone for whatever reason).
FYI : You will need CWM5 to flash any CM7.2 rom... CWM4 will brick ya phone flashing 7.2 rom... "DONT DO IT" CWM5 only for 7.2 roms... I see that you have CWM5 but this could be just incidental to your situation hence my warning (in case you did'nt actually know)...

Bro, this is because CM7.2 RC1 that you are using is having an ex4 filesystem where stock roms have rfs filesystem. In order to resove this problem, ive made a guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606336
Only go uptill STEP 3, if you wish to retain your custom recovery and root.

NANDROID Backups DO WORK. md5 mismatch errors occour when you rename the backup folder. if you want to fix them, here is the solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606047
I myself restored my stock firmware using nandroid backups countless times.

i changed to the 6.2 stable version, and it all stayed the same.. what should i do? i don't want to lose information.. do i have to do wipe install?
thats what you get with customs roms thats why i went back to stock jpy 2.2.1
You need to make backups before installing any rom, stock or custom. If you're on a custom rom with clockworkmod, make a nandroid backup and a titanium backup before you flash. The nandroid backup will come in handy if anything goes wrong and the titanium backup will get all of your apps back with the new firmware even after a wipe.

Hi all,
My dad has a galaxy s. Since the stock samsung firmware is pretty bad, I installed darky's ultimate rom v10.2 on his phone, about a week ago. I have a galaxy s2, running miui, and my dad liked the interface.. so he asked me: can I have that too?
So I said, sure! I wiped his phone with clockworkmod, and flashed the miui zip. (After backing up darky's firmware offcourse)
But.. after about 1 hour of usage, he didn't like miui anymore, so he asked me if I could restore to darky's rom... so.. I went to clockworkmod, and hit the restore button. Unfortunately, it gave an error, saying something about "can't restore boot"
I tried it again.. same error.
Luckilly, I had another backup, of the stock rom, before i flashed darky. So I tried to restore that backup..
I don't know what happened, but clockworkmod doesn't work anymore. Everytime i try to do something, it keeps giving errors about unable to mount this, unable to mount that, bla bla bla.
And the phone wont boot..
However, i'm still able to access download mode.
So i think it's possible to restore it completely, but can you guys give me some advice? What should I flash with odin, and can you provide a link?
I'm really hoping for a quick respond because my dad is not happy with his phone being "dead".
Thanks in advance!

Are you sure Miui is not based on something other then samsung? Maybe you should try and flash a stock firmware (e.g. 2.3.4), then root for CWM, and restore that way?
Ok, you have to know:
For MIUI you just need a GB-bootloader as base and you can easily flash MIUI through CWM. But MIUI (and CM7 too) don't use the RFS-filesystem as Samsung-based ROMs (they use MTD/yaffs2 as the Nexus). So you can't restore Darky easily.
But you can do this:
- Reboot into download mode (3-button-combo)
- Flash any Samsung-based stock-FW with Odin
- Flash any kernel which fits your GB-firmware and which includes CWM
- Restore your Darky-backup through CWM
For stock go to http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/odin-darkyrom-10-2-resurrection-gt-i9000.4272/
Download and follow the steps in the thread, voila, recovery done
If u wanna go back to Darky's u can check Darky's ROM 10.2 Resurrection. But just for a clean install i would flash a stock JVQ first and then install Darky's.
Thanks for the reply's everyone, gonna try it this evening, when i'm home

Yes - that happened to me also. My first "bad" experience with flashing
from what i read CM7 running ext4, stock runing ext3 right?
so now i'm back with stock running froyo, i still have my backup files on with sd card. Do i root and install rom manager then install Back2Ext3, and final running restore? will this restore back to my original state since i backup using cwm to backup.
thank guy
yes, cm7 uses ext4 system mount. i just use a zip file which i flash from recovery if i need to get back to ext3.
here it is btw if you are on stock froyo and want to restore stock gingerbread (if i understood you right) you dont need to use back to ext3 again, just restore your back up.

Restore stock backup from CM needs to flash an ext4-backto-ext3 zip with cwm, what a pity you overwrite cwm with stock recovery.
Now you should try to rescue your phone with SmartFlash, finally consider nvflash method.

If you mind, try Django Manouche, Custom but stock based ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410662 . I tried many CM and MIUI roms but always ended restoring Django back
I returned to Gingerbread from CM9 with stock safe team overcome files... My tab works correctly, but I can't install Firefox...

Italy 2011 May 2.3.3 P1000XXJQ1 P1000OXAJQ1
I haven't TIM version, so I think I must install 2.3.3... Is it correct??? Can I istall 2.3.6 and remove all TIM brand???

Agreed. Sorry to ask, but you successfully flash CM9, and successfully restocked back to GB-Stock-safe -- that's not an easy task.
But you can't get firefox running? (I'll try to download firefox with ICS AOKP and with 2.3.3. open asia version my friend has and let you know).
GB-Stock-safe IS 2.3.3 JQ1, so there shouldn't be much difference 'Italy 2011 May 2.3.3 P1000XXJQ1 P1000OXAJQ1'
So if you can't get it running on GB-Stock-safe, you may not be able to get it running on P1000XXJQ1 as well.
EDIT: Firefox is still on BETA while android is already on jellybean??? -- wow you are really a loyal fan of Firefox.
Firefox on 2.3.3 and CM9, downloaded from google play, started up nicely. --If you restore from titanium backup, you might want to redownload from google play store.
If you move from CM9 to gingerbread, many apps restored from titanium backup wouldn't be able to start correctly.
With GB from team overcome I can't download and install firefox from play store, because my version isn't supported... But with original firmware I downloaded it correctly... Why? Maybe team overcome modified some stuff...
I liked chrome in CM9, but with 2.3.3 I can't install it unfortunately...

Hey, even i shifted from cm9 to gingerbread with lot of pitfalls and difficulties.. now i restored my apps using titanium backup.. whenever i open my menu i.e my app drawer the restored apps are not displayed... when i exit and open the menu again they are displayed... what is wrong with my tab ?
now i have a problem..
i rooted my tab using cfroot which installed the clockworkmod version 3.0, then i made a backup of my stock rom i.e gingerbread 2.3.3 using the nandroid backup method i.e going into the recovery mode and manually making a backup..
then later on i flashed cm9 onto the tab. since i was not so pleased by it i thought of flashing back to the stock rom using the recover option in the recovery mode..
when chose that option, everything went wrong.. Note , i did not wipe any cache, or user data or dalvik cache.
whenever i tried to boot my tab, it was stuck at the boot screen..
now i have installed a stock rom of some other country and have both the backup i.e backup of stock rom and cm9 as well...
My question is that whether i would be able to get back my backed up stock rom and how ??
Secondly, how to perform a complete backup of rom and flash back to it in any case ?
Please help.. !!
thanks in advance..
3 facts, that I know
- you cannot use Titanium Backup to restore to different OS, ( from ICS to GB was what you did), it is meant for same OS version
- to return to non MTD rom from CM9 MTD, a full restock is required, that means flashing GB from with pit file and repartition checked,
- Overcome recovery can't take reliable nandroid backup. CM9 one is OK. I never tried cfroot one.

As i said that I rooted my gt-p1000 using cfroot. it installed clockworkmod v3.0. I took a backup of my stock rom. Then later on I restored the stock rom from the recovery mode.
everything went fine, and the restore was complete. but when my tab started to boot, it was stuck at the boot screen.
Later on i performed a full flash using the odin method.. repartitioning...
Then i performed restoring the stock rom again which i had backed up before.. just this time i wiped user data/factory reset and wipe cache partition and this time the restoring worked fine..
my question is that.. i saw videos on youtube about getting a backup using the clockworkmod. they went in the mounts and storage section and wiped data, system and dalvik cache whereas i just wiped user data and cache partition from the main menu... What difference did it make ?? Did i did something wrong..
Note: i have restored my original stock rom which is working fine.

Hi guys,
I just need some short advise:
My dad flashed CM10 nightly a few days ago.
Before that he had a stock froyo rom (i don't know which version exactly) but with root and CWM.
Flashing CM10 worked but he had same bugs (baseband deleted, reboots every 10 minutes), so he flashed CM9 stable hopeing to get these things right. but it didn't, baseband was still gone. So he decided to restore his nandroid backup and go back to his froyo stock.
but that ended in a total disaster and the phone won't boot anymore. it is stuck at the white "Galaxy S" screen (before boot animation).
My dad said, that he tried to restore his backup a 2nd time. but he got many errors including "unknown volume for path /data"
He is a little bit frightened that he could brick his phone completely so he asked me for help.
Well, I don't know what to do besides flashing a stock gingerbread rom + kernel +baseband/modem with Odin.
Am I right with this? Or do you guys got some other advise for me.
thanks for help
try factory reset must done after restore
are you sure?
shouldn'd this be done before restore?
by doing a wipe, I would need to do 2 restors in order to keep my apps..
As the partition layout of CyanogenMod and stock are different, and thus stock partition layout is needed, you have to flash stock using Odin with pit512 and partition enabled. After that restore should work as well.
Besides: If baseband is missing in CM, try to flash a CM modem.
